    Ok, here's a little something I've been working on;
    An Elevated Rail over Monorail overpass;

    [pic hosted off-site]

    EI;MRPic5.JPG border=0

    Still needs some more work though, mainly with the Path files. Right now the ride is a tad bumpy 17.gif

    Looks great! Can't wait to see more overpasses....

    Here's a completely different question. Since your so good at modding; can you put something different than grassland under the tracks of elevated networks?

    Ok folks;
    Attached is an Elevated Rail over Monorail Overpass mod. Consider it a beta version, though I don't think there should be any problems with it. Unzipp the file and place the mod file as is in the same folder as the Network Addon Mod file is. If you do not have the Network Addon Mod, then this mod file may work for you but I can not guarantee it will.

    Next time the Network Mod is updated it will include this Overpass. The look of this overpass is pretty much final, so don't expect any visual changes for it.
    EDIT: I forgot to mention; to build the overpass; just draw one network type over the other and it will build automatically. Just make sure you drag the Elevated Rail far enough from/to either side of a section of Monorail.

    xannepan;
    Doing that would basically require starting from scratch, since it would involve having to use the Bat . Something I'm not really keen on doing. I'll keep what you've said in mind though for future overpasses. It's a good idea for sure.

    Hi,

    I've tried out the beta version that's in the mod section and I think its a great start (good job to everyone who is working on it 19.gif).

    I have a suggestion for a change that's not related to interchanges or anything, but rather functionality that I miss from DM's Transit Supermod when I tried your mod out:

    - Vehicle Automata Lifespan Range (time vehicle automata remain visible): Upped to max, 255-255.
    - Pedestrian Automata Lifespan Range (time ped automata remain visible): Upped from 0x2-0x4 to 0x10-0x50.

    Ok ok, I know I'm being a tad nitpicky, and I really don't know how hard it would be to incorporate, but if you could add this in, even as an option, I'd be in heaven with the Ultimate traffic mod. 4.gif

    Thanks for listening!

    Here's a [new] one that some might like;

    the Train here has a nice, smooth, ride on the overpass. Smooth enough not to awaken travelling sims9.gif2.gif. This too will most likely be included in the next update of the Network mod [when it is updated].

    As for the suggestions that people have made recently; As usual they will get taken into consideration for/when the next update is done.

    Just one question with the new Addon Mod. I built a city with the new mod and when i go to click to query roads to see the pathfinding for sims going to work, it shows that pedestrians are using the roads way more than cars. It seems the sims want to walk very long distances to get to their jobs, and in some cases walk almost across the map on a medium sized city. I used Network Addon Mod_ TrafficPlugin _4 which has the most accurate pathfinding. So is it to do with this one. I tried the Network Addon Mod_ TrafficPlugin _3 and sims still seem to walk far. I have taken all other pathfinding mods out so there are no clashes.
    Cheers

    [As per Installation Instructions]; Apart from the ...TrafficPlugin_1 file, the other TrafficPlugin files [2/3/4] all have their speeds/capacities/maxcommute increased. So to answer your question; yes it is to do with that file. Next update some changes will be made though; this'll include some more options as far as the TrafficPlugins are concerned, so hopefully there'll be more of a variety for people to choose from.

    The trainoverpass looks really good! Nice and smooth. The EL-train overpass looks more doubtful though. Isn't it possible to make the monorail raise like 50% and the EL-train lower 50% when crossing? Instead of only making the EL-train raise over the monorail 100%?

    Would it be possible to make overpasses for this style?

    /idealbb/files/Rail

    /idealbb/files/Highway

    If not, that's too bad...I still miss sunken highways 1.gif

    If that's not possible, can the length of the train overpass can be doubled? The change in grade is really steep. More like the slope on the el-monorail overpass would be great 44.gif

    Sure, it's possible. You can do it now, but you still need 3 tiles on each side of the highway network and there's an ugly hump on both sides. The hump problem is fixable by replacing the first sloped section, which is curved, with a straight sloped section. But then it looks ugly when you lay it out normally.

    If someone can create a new overpass like this, with both an overpass and overpass intersection, I'll do some rough renders of Viaduct Rail. I just have no idea what steps I would have to go through to turn ANT Network into Viaduct Rail. Can someone summarize?

    Personally I'd like to see the ANT become a super 2 type highway. It seems to fit the qualities of being a one lane (in each direction) highway to me. I'm not sure how much modding is involved though, so I don't want to push this idea too hard.

    I'm looking forward to the next update since there'll be all these great new intersection options. The monorail and elevated rail overpass will especially help since that can be the most annoying thing sometimes 5.gif.

    Wow ... I've just reread this entire thread and all I have to say is:

    1. It's incredible how many people cannot understand or comprehend or even take the time to read a freaking readme file. Not to mention the posts on the thread above them, because a lot of dumb questions have been asked more than once already.

    2. You guys seriously rock and are doing a fantastic job here. Keep up the great work - I hope to see this mod go all the way to a fully-functional new network.

    3. Is it possible to copy the textures from the street texture mods and reassign ID references in the new ANT mod to reference these textures instead of the default road ones?

    4. I love that el-train-monorail overpass a lot, but like somebody else said already, I would also like to know if it would be possible to make the lower network dip and the upper one raise a little. The only other thing I could say about that would be to make the supports integrate a little better, but still, it looks amazing.

    5. If I could choose one thing I'd like to see be an additional network, it would definitely be a sunken (one-lane?) highway. However, I remember the issues with the underpasses and doubt this would be possible 100% ...

    The best thing about these recent developments is their flawless integration with the rest of the game. No lots cluttering up the menus, full functionality ... I appreciate your work every time I start up the game.

    Oh, yeah. One more thing. Would it (ever) be possible to integrate a RH-style bridge choice box for different things? Like say you make multiple styles of overpasses for ... say, rail-over-road. You drag the rail across and you get a dialog prompting for styles ... possible? Plausible?

    here's some more [new] items

    [pics hosted off-site]

    This is an Elevated Rail over Elevated Highway overpass [something added to the base as per someones request].

    This is a Ground Highway to Onewayroad Transition.

    These will be in the next update, which, will hopefully be some time this weekend. I will also try and include some of the other items/requests that people have asked for thus far [regarding the Traffic/Automata].
    Regarding the ANT network though; I have been trying to discuss with a few people what to do with it exactly [i am not overly good with Textures, if I have to make them myself]. It can be converted into one of a few different options, but whatever the option it will take a bit of time, it all depends on what exactly is done to/with it. So for now, I would like to warn people that the Overpasses & On/offramps should preferably not be used for the ANT network, as chances are they may be removed at a later date.

    And lastly,  just a note/reminder/shoutout; unless those of you good at the Bat can model [properly] some Overpasses/Interchanges & whatever else; then I'm afraid some requests won't be done. These things take time to make [from beginning with something in BAT, to the end with the Rules/Paths/etc], and at the moment there is really only myself and Redlotus who have a significant involvement with this. So if you would like to help out in some way, then either PM myself or Redlotus for more info.

    I didn't even understand what the point of ANT is even after reading it... all i just understood that you cant build things around it like a highway and is faster. And even you can do those overpasses etc. i thought that we could place normal highway overpasses on it! he should make the explaintion clearer!! (i actully thought it was a 1 laned highway...)

    P.S can you make a dual carriageway highway??

    Ok folks, an update;
    Seeing as how parts of the site are down at the moment [& have been for a little while], I've decided to host the file myself [for now anyhow].

    Once it's downloaded, be sure to open the README file [& go from there]. There is more than plenty enough information included with the mod to explain/answer any/most questions that people may have about the mod. Also, several changes & additions have been made to the mod; which should/will hopefully please a number of you.

    I feel the elevated rail should go under as well. I'm not too particularly keen on the yellow/black supports for it either, but the other network add ons are very good. I've been wanting highway to one ways for ages to sort out stupid sims.

    I'll see if I can answer some questions people may have asked;

    Regarding EI overpass; basically a decision was made. If it were made to go under; or if it were made so that monorail was partially lowered [for its overpass]; there would of been a considerable amount of extra files.
    For every one of those grid squares in the game; there is usually about half a dozen different files [it varies a little]. So the more complex, the more complicated these things are, the more files there'll be. Not to mention the efforts involved time-wise. And as far as decorating these overpasses go; well at the moment there is a little bit of a limiation with that [of which I'm not even bother going to get into].

    @Thalassicus; that first pic; it should be possible to do. It would most likely have to be plopped from the Roads Menu though. [the reason for this is; if there are several types of Overpasses for a given network, then having a Menu button for the Overpass may be needed]. For that second pic though, that's already possible. The fact that the game handles how it's built though, is not really something that can be controlled [we can't actually stipulate how an overpass should look given different Terrain heights/depths. That would be something controlled by the exe, and for very good reason].

    @ardecila; if you could be more specific about what it is you're wanting/trying to do, then PM me.

    @Vatt3; thinking of it now, I thought about having the EI & Monorail actually just intersecting with one another, without the overpass. But thought that may not really look right.

    @Equinox: [onpoint] >>3. Yes, but part of the problem would be that additional Texture files would have to be created so that it can be used for when ANT diagonals are built. Otherwise you'd just end up with invisible tiles, either that or you'd end up with a mix of Street/Road looking textures for the same [ANT] network.  >>4. Read 1st paragraph up top, I've mentioned part of the reason why it is like it is. >>5. Possible, perhaps. I am still trying to look into how its appearance should be changed, if at all. But since I'm not really good with Texturing/Drawing, I am really having to depend on others for this [i can integrate/implement Textures into the game for it if people make them].....as for your last item goes; Don't hold your breath, exe controlled I would think . If several different overpasses were made for the same two networks [say road/rail] though, Menu buttons can easily be made for the different overpass types or something along these lines to handle the aspect a bit better [the Menu buttons would most likely be placed in the Roads &/or Highways Menu].

    @xiziz: That is an interesting Idea you have there. It's most likely not possible though [the Underground Networks, subways/waterpipes, are structured a bit differently in the games files, to say the least].

    @kahinyeh: Point taken. I have actually made some changes to the documation regarding that, so hopefully it will be easier to understand. As for dual carriageway highway, I doubt it, possibly exe controlled.

    @Morhavoc: what can I say, can't please everyone all of the time 20.gif. I realise that people have different tastes etc, but unless more people help out with some BAT models of this stuff, well then it's a little hard really to do what everyone would like.

    Hopefully this answers anyones/everyones questions.

    I am just the person for stupid questions, that's why I'm gonna ask this: if I install the new version of the mod, should I delete the folder with the files of the old version in it? Just wondering, I haven't found any info on that anywhere.

    I made sure I covered this aspect in the Installation Instructions 19.gif. But yes, older versions of the mod should be removed, otherwise conflicts may arise causing some apsects not to work as intended.
