    Hello to All!

Again it's update time. This time I'll show some pictures I made for the Simforum Village Competition that I couldn't show due to the sheer amount.

But as always before we start:

@Larks2242: Thanks for the compliment my friend! More pics in today's update! 2.gif

@dfnva: Thanks for the compliment my friend! 1.gif

@jacqulina: Hi Jacky! The small one is doing fine using up his father's remaining nerves ... Hope you like the additinal shots, too! 1.gif

@Benedict: Thanks for the compliment! The covered bridge(s) are hard to set for me, and I am especially proud that this one fit so well. There's another pic in this update! 2.gif

BTW thanks for opening page 33 - the last page before the four digits are beginning! 10.gif

@Simsamerica: Thanks for the compliment and welcome to Urland! 1.gif

BTW: The SC4D Thematic competition is up an running! And I am sure we'll see tons of marvellous pictures there!

But now let's go in medias res and start:

Update 12a: A little bit more of Leonhardt

I'm not commenting a lot today - most is said in the update before! 2.gif

    Pic 12.1: Another Overview

    An overview from another angle

Pic 12,2: Around The RR Station

The railway station and the Sudetensiedlung. It was a lot of work for Dozer 07 but eventually it was worth it! 1.gif

Pic 12.3: Around the RR Station 2

I like that mix of farm, forest, residential and commercial/industrial.  48.gif

And yes, that is a level crossing ... 21.gif

Pic 12.4: Around the RR Station 3

    Pic 12.5 Sudetensiedlung

    The Sudetensiedlung from another angle.

Pic 12.6 Skt. Leon and the creeks

The serpentine and the Qualch going down to the valley.

    Pic 12.7 Skt. Leon

Still one of my All Time Favourite Churches!

    Pic 12.8 The Old Bridge

The first time I found an adequate spot for this nice bridge!

Pic 12.9: Between Qualch and Sittersbach

Pic 12.10: All Along The Qualch 1

I didn't wanted to let the fields go untill the creek so I created a small forested valley.

    Pic 12,11; The sportfield

View from the other side of the Qualch

Pic 12.12: All Along The Qualch 2

    I just love that one!

    Pic 12,13: In The Forest

Not far from my parent's house a stable is situated almost the same as here!

Pic 12.14: In the Forest - Closeup

A closeup with some small important yet most of the time overseen details ...

    Pic 12.15: Leaving Leonhardt

And with this closeup we say Good Bye to Leonhardt. More villages are to come, and there is still the SC4D Thematic competiton ...

    Have fun!

Glad to see the old church still gets an outing now and then. I like where you have placed it too. Anyway enough of that I'm going to take the time to read this CJ from the front.

    Hello to All!

No, this time no update, just a teaser and a question. I am about to prepare two updates for you from a map under construction, only one corner is presentable, and I want to know which one you'd like to see first ...

    But before as allways:

TmiguelT:  Thanks for the compliment! 1.gif And I'll do my very best to continue like this!

mntoes: Thanks for the compliment and welcome to my humble CJ1.gif Glad you liked how I used your old church!

OK, now for the teaser and the question. On one of the first maps on my recent region a lot of areas ... well ... are in dire need of a severe redo despite the fact that the main traffic arteria is ok as it is now. However one corner turned out rather nice:

    T01: Overview

So, where do you want me to start:

    A

Hainingen, a small village, some industry, some farms and a nice railway station:

    T02: Hainingen

    or

    B
suburbia. lots of homes in a rather standart street layout, quite some farms and wood and a little bit of railway:

    T03: suburbia

The choice is up to you!

    Have fun!

    Another Teaser ...

Just a little sign of life from me. The next update is going to be A: Hainingen. To shorten up the time a little bit from my works in progress:

    Teaser Pic 1

    Teaser Pic 2

    Teaser Pic 3

Another map, and Maxis Highway instead of railway. 21.gif No RHW - don't expect too much progressive changes from an oldfashioned donkey ...

Some Texture(s) and lot(s) are going to be changed but I like how it turned out here.

Answer will be following - it is 3:30 am here ...

    Have fun!

    Hello To All!

Sorry that I couldn't do my update before Christmas but my short one just didn't let me do anything in Sc4 ...   and in the little remaining time my wife wanted to have something from her husband so ...

Anyway here I am - not with another teaser but with a full blown updates which is only part 1 of 2.

BTW - in case you don't know, the Trixies are out. And well, I am a little bit proud for winning the "Best Rural CJ" - Trixie for the second time  ... 43.gif

But as always before we start:

@dfnva: Thanks for the compliment! 1.gif Hope you like today's update - only railway no ploppable water ....

And congratulation for the Trixie! 35.gif

@shanghai kid: So you are going to like today's update! 2.gif

    @Nardo69: Shuddup!

@Benedict: Well, I never was one of the fast guys ... 15.gif Hope you like the new update my friend! 2.gif

@ironicepitome: Here it is - also from another tile, the tile from the last teaser still needs a lot of LE works 14.gif

So, let's go in medias res and do ...

Update Nr. 13: In and Around Hainingen, Part I

... which is the first update after my second "Best Rural CJ" - Trixie ...! 10.gif

    Pic 13.0: Overview

Overview and surrounding of Hainingen. Haining is a part of the map / community of Petershain.

As you can see there's quite something left to do on the right and lower edge  of the map ...24.gif

Pic 13.1: Overview over the village

The village itself is dominated by the Scharff & Rizz Papiermanufaktur, a evry old and traditional paper manufacturer. The company was one of the reasons the railway line was built as the transport with horse cars to the nearby river harbours became too expensive and slow in the second half of the 19th century.

    Pic 13.2 Hainingen

Next to the paper factory you can see the Jakob Daniel Eiswarengesellschaft, famous not only for their Bourban Vanilla icecream but also for their Bourban flavour icecream ...

    Pic 13.3: Industrial District

The industry never expanded across the little street. In the early days it was the necessary railway connections in ladder days the birds that raise their children in the small wood across the street.

    Pic 13.4 Industry and Farming

Even today agriculture is very important to Hainingen as seen here.

Pic 13.5 Industry and Farming II

Rather symbolical: the main road of Hainingen ends up in a dirt road for the farms and a small street for the factories ... and behind the forrest is literally nothing!

Pic 13.6 Industry and Farming III

Pic 13.4 Industry and Farming III

I like these irregular shaped areas as they do make nice little woods that are home and hideout for birds and insects that don't find a place in today's "clean" agriculture.

Pic 13.9: Railway and FArming III

Nice difference: The dirt tracks before I painted them with the RRP flora ...

Yes I know, some texture work is necessary at the Maxis field. The entry pre signal leads us directly to the ...

Pic 13.9 Industry and Farming IV

... entry signal of Hainingen with some suicide cows.

It has a pre signal that shows if a train has to stop or may run through. Especiall yon secondary railway lines it isn't always necessary.

Pic 13.9a Industry and Farming V

The same area like 13.8 but from another angle and with the RRP textures. I just like the shades of green here! 1.gif

Pic 13.10: Road and Farming I

Pic 13.11: Road and Farming II

The side strip of that road was one of my first tries to use the RRP. Even though I prefer the Green Rye Grass by now I still do like the layout!

Pic 13.12: The Village and the Road

The main road of Hainingen connects the village to the main road that runs next to the village.

    Pic 13.13: Leaving Hainingen?

The railway leaves to Grafenauberg and the Hydro Power Plant (you haven't forgotten, have you 2.gif )

Next time I'll show you some tips and tricks.

    Untill then:

    Have fun!

    And of Course:

A Big Thank You Very Much to all those who nominated me! 35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif

And another Big Thank You Very Much for my second "Best Rural CJ" - Trixie! 39.gif39.gif39.gif39.gif39.gif

Great update and nice stuff with the wide radius railway puzzle pieces. What texture do you use to prevent the default 'dirt' texture underneath the tracks?

I also liked the update with the highway, for some reason it reminded me of the mountains of Pennsylvania.

Congratulations on your Trixies... your rural areas are amazing as always.

I should use STR once... it looks very nice, and I think in some setting it makes more sense to use that. Especially when there's extremely low usage. Would be nice to see a train on this, but who am I to complain 3.gif pretty pictures as always!

Over at the German Simforum Picture Competition I had a discussion wether close ups or overviews are more demandinf. During the discussion I promised to show the surrounding map of this picture:

    0bb72f87163d2993eb6701e.jpg

after it is out of the Competition. It lost in the 4th round (HoF there needs 5 rounds, the picture has been in the SC4Devotion Picture Competition, too but failed in the first round) so to keep my word I'll show you a

    Construction Site Report

As I explained this is a construction site report and not a regular update. Because of this there are tons of empty spaces as well as lots of unfinished places on this medium map which is now used not more than 20% total. Untill you'll see a full blwon update a lot f problems of all kinds have to be solved here ...  30.gif

And I am slow. Why? Well, some love Zoomlevel 2 or 3, my favourite one is Zoomlevel 5. I just love all these small details in all the Bats and props and textures and ... the things I have to plan and layout and plop by myself. Maybe this is the reason why I still do Sc4 as my hobby...

    CS2.01

The left lower corner of the map. The spot of the competition picture is marked with a yellow rectangular.

    CS 2.02

Someday this is going to be a bigger village. The railway lines makes it way in a 180 degree curve around the village in order to gain height. Except for the railway station and some level crossings the railway lines goes up all over the map.

    CS 3.03

A view in the direction of the other lower corner of the map. I started building the map from there. These overviews are fresh, I made them during my last SC4 session!

    CS 2.04

Some where further down in the lower right corner of the map you can find this small seddlement where two creeks come together.

    And - because I love closeups:  9.gif

    CS 2.05

Pinewood, high voltage line and edge of the wood. I am far away from being satisfied here - the pinewood doesn't stand Nardos Naggin' ... 21.gif

    CS 2.05

A closeup to the road at the left corner of CS2.04. Its not that easy to integrate FAR pieces adequatels in RRP and MM tree forrests but for now that's halway acceptable ...

    CS 2.07

I am neither a BATter nor a texture heroe but if the "delivered" textures don't fit then they are made to fit ...

There's some finetuning necessary here, too, but overall, well,  could've been worse ...

That's for now - Answers & replies tomorrow, the next regular update soon here.

    Have fun!

Cool "update"! Well, I also prefer close-ups because 1) you can show little scenes with a big effect while you don't have to have the whole map ready yet 3.gif 2) as I said, small scenes use to have a big effect. But if I don't like the way a scene looks from far away, then I don't like the detailed scene as well. So it's hard to answer what is more demanding. Hehe.

But as for your rural scenes, they're lovely as always! Amazing details once again.

    Some Late Replies:

Ok, tonight during the update I couldn't do them so here they are:

BTW - Have you noticed? Two Milestones are approaching:

    1. The first four digit post number

    2. 30000 views ....

    1.gif

Benedict: Thanks for the compliment!  1.gif

Well, as I wrote in the update I am rather dedicated to these little things. They allways fascinated me on Sc4 - have you ever looked at some of the Maxis R$ lots? There are some true Gems among them you can only discover in Zoomlevel 5!

Simbourgeois: Thanks for the compliment! 1.gif

But if it's me making you dream about nature it's you who make me dream about the utopia of nice towns ful of live!

Korot: Thanks for the compliment!  1.gif

PhilsCafe(1): You definately should! I do love them however I use both STR and DTR. Doing one doesn't mean stopping the other ....

    Nardo69: 18.gif

PhilsCafe(2): That's my way of thinking, too, even though I like these kind of big scale CJs, too, that cover whole regions like the fantastic works of EJC  or Mr. Beer.

ComputerGuy890100: Thanks for the compliment!  1.gif

Kusajika Yachiru: Thanks for the compliment!  1.gif

Actually I am inspired by my home country (Southwest) Germany but some things I do are rather universal - maybe because they come from the heart?

Great update. And in response to your comment, the small details were the initial inspiration for my cj, and the reason I am still playing the vanilla game - all those tiny details that I am still discovering keep me interested.
