Very nice stuff Bernhard. I love the rural style but I must admit, your urban shots are great. I like the way you use rail and rows of trees as a divider of sections in your city. Makes sense now that I see it in action.

Amazing update Bernhard. Great historic explanation. I really like the look of Vorstadt. I agree with Darmok. It does have a working class feel... Great details along the railroad tracks!

About the term 'suburbs': According to Wikipedia , there are different definitions, depending on the country. In the US, I think this term is ususally used for residential communities outside the city borders, closely connected to a certain layout... but maybe an American can tell you more about this subject 2.gif.

I'm looking forward to next year and another update of Urland.

    Hello to All!

And welcome to the first update in 2006 ... wow, quite some post there 48.gif44.gif ...

Fairlane500: Thanks for the compliment. 1.gif
In fact IMHO any air attack by whoever to whoever on civilists in wartime or even worse in peace is terror, massmurder and genocide. Even though I know their terror only the pics and the memories from my parents and grandparents.
As a matter of fact I am German and I am doing a German style CJ so I don't want to and cannot ignore the wars of the last 150 years. I just try to show a small pic of modern Germany with my CJ ...

meinhosen: Great to see you back here! Glad you like how I continued and I do hope to see more of your great work in the future!

chocolatemax285: Thanks for the compliment! As you can see we stay in the Nordstadt in this update, hope you like some more of it, too!

Micah: Thanks for the compliment! Although we will stay in Gleiwem

You know what!... my sister would be the kind of person to do exactly the same as in My Big Fat Greek Wedding I'll have to be very carefull with what she's telling me now! 18.gif
Thanks for the link, I've found it, and already used it in Bruinen Fjord.
I really liked that update, more so the riverfront! The whole thing has a really true worker town feeling! And those winter shots are great!
    Very good one my friend!

Beautiful work my friend.  The first pic is great, I think the wildflowers really set it off....I also really like pics 15.29 and how it appears that the farms start just on the outskirt of the city, although it would appear that someone is up to no good out there near the rail....I see the spotlight from the police helicopter shining down2.gif  The snow looks great, especially in pic 15.31a although I'm sure that palm tree over by the cemetary wasn't too happy about it2.gif

    Always great stuff Bernhard.....

Those New York row homes look nice in this setting. I had them installed for a while, but they seem to mix better here in a European look rather than with the other American style row homes that are available. The snow looks great (I finally figured out how to get the snow to cover the sidewalks... just needed to take out cycledogg's terrain). I like the view of the final bit of Flegginger Allee also--seems like an appropriate look for being close to the autobahn.

Maybe you've gotta ask slann who the Christina character is in RL. I'm quite sure she's an actress... maybe it's her, maybe you know an actress then 29.gif.

I really like that update Bernhard. Flegginger Allee looks very nice, also the industrial sector (I also like it dirty sometimes... industry-wise). But my favorite picture is the 'Autobahnanschluss'. It shows your great attention for details (the commercial-residnetial mix, the flora and jeronij walls).

    Take care my friend.

    - Phil

utora: Thanks for the compliment! I hope you enjoy the rest of my CJ (including my quite famous tutorials...), too! 2.gif

Kwakelaar: Yes, nightlight and snow do make soem effects!
In this update I go again in the rural settingsm hope you like it!

Darmok: Since I had quite some DejaVu while watching the movie (my wife is a Turk ...) I thought I should warn you .. 2.gif

dhoppeii: Yes, I do have some crimes in Gleiwem

Great pics, indeed 19.gif But how cold it is there during winter time ? And how long it lasts usually ? 'cause I don't like places which are tooooooo cold 28.gif Brrrrrrrrrrrrr

But in summertime it looks great, so scenic... but with a modern touch. One can really see that farming is intensive there.

    Keep it up 44.gif

Great use of those Dusk Trooper trees Bernhard! They add a lot to the soccer field setup, we can easily imagine the parents sitting under those big trees while watching the game!

Those railways pics were great, especially the last night pic, where we can see the train station at night!
And the winter pic of the same sector is very informative, I like how you made not only two but three tracks wide to deserve that short section.
How did you manage to have that kind of billboard standing between two tracks? Is this a special lot you modified?

    Good one my friend!
Take care and be carefull with your wife traductions 18.gif

    Bernhard,

I've enjoyed seeing your pictures of farms complete with the lines of trees and how they appear with your towns. Very realistic. Also your towns and cities look very realistically European.

    Hello to All!

Sorry that I let you wait a bit ... the permanent lack of time that prevents me becoming a second SimGoober called RLS has quite some stamina ...

GreekMan: Thanks for the compliment! 1.gif

Simbourgeois: Nice to see the builder of one of my favourites CJ here in my humble Urland ... 43.gif

The Winters are not soo cold .. normally rather rainy than snowy but in January and February you may get up to -15 degree and 15 cm snow for 3 or four weeks normally ...

About the farming, I guess Gleiwem

Woah!! That water tower night/winter pic is simply incredible! love it! 36.gif
pic 15.56 is also great with the use of diagonal street, the road over railway overpass.
Also liked the lat pic (4 pics in fact) of the railway bridge original way of showing it, it's kind of a kaleidoscopic effect!

Great work again my friend it was worth the wait! 44.gif

Take care and enjoy the weekend!

I really liked this update, very good rural citybuilding, which is also very pleasing to the eye. Bornheim as quite an interesting mix of buildings, I think it is well put together.
And the presentation of the images look supurb.

Oh and about the AH, I have sort of a personal vendetta against them. It used to be the best chain of supermarkets in the NL, but nowadays they are only expensive with less choice and bad quality. This is ofcourse nothing but a subjective opinion.
