DEAD DEPENDENCY GUIDE

What to do about dependency files on the STEX that are dead links or locked for administrative purposes.

This thread explains where they are now and how to find them. It's supposed to be a help to help yourself. It also gives information on updated files that are important.

Note: This thread is first and foremost for information, not for discussion. However, suggestions and feedback to make this information more informative and helpful are always welcome.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Why are dependency files missing/locked on the STEX?

A: Some creators of STEX content have started to update their old work. By doing that, they are also updating the dependencies and re-packing them into Dependency MEGA Packs. Since most of these creators are BSC team members, their updated creations and dependencies can now be found on the BSC Lot Exchange (LEX) over at sc4devotion.com.

Q: Where can I find the MEGA packs now?

A: Most of the MEGA packs can be found on the LEX, although not exclusively. For more information, check out the

LEX Dependency List to find out where the most common dependency packs are now. Or see the Resources section below for more information.

Q: How can I find a certain dependency?

A: It is recommended to check for an updated version of your favorite STEX download on the LEX or STEX first. Especially the BSC is re-uploading their work to the LEX exclusively. You will find the latest version there, together with the link to the correct dependency packs used.

If you are still completely lost, you can ask here. Chances are good that somebody can help. But be patient and make sure to search first. If you do that, people are more willing to help.

Admirable effort. Hope you have success.

When I moved all of my content over to SC4D I created a master dependency list. If you want any deadwoods' lots, go to the SC4Devotion LEX. If you want to know all my dependencies, go get the DEDWD Master Dependency List (https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=557). Or search for deadwoods on the SC4D LEX and page through until you find it.

I wouldn't download any of my stuff here as I haven't gone through the 99-odd readme's to update the dependency links.

Ok, I have fixed the first post now... unfortunately a good portion of Barby's list of links fell victim to the cyber-attacks. Oh well... I think it should still be helpful.

I don't know if this is the proper place to ask but just one quick question.

When I download from the stex would it better to start with all files and start with the oldest files first and work up through there to make sure that I have all the dependecies I need and they are updated as move through newer and newer content? I hope I phrased that right.

I think the best thing would be to download those items that you think you might use. Then check the download instructions or a Readme file that may accompany the download to see what dependencies are required. If the dependency can't be found on the STEX, try the links above (in the first post) to look throught the LEX Dependency List. Many older file names are listed but link to the updated files. Simply downloading newer files may not overwrite those that were updated, and you might wind up with a lot of extra items in your plugins. Just a thought...

No I didn't mean downloading every file, I meant when I start browsing for files I want should I used the all files category and then start with the oldest files first. LOL Theres no way I could download all the files. Sorry for the way I worded that. I am very selective about what I download.

You know this request is over 6 years old right? I mean, that would have to be some patient waiting :D.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

    Automated Notice Message

All posts after 1 March, 2026 @ 01:37 GMT were lost in the site crash.

We've added this message thread divider in every topic across all forums for what were then active threads. (We decided active is if the most recent extant post (from the backup) was on or after 1 January, 2026.)

This divider serves as notice that the conversation was interrupted. Answers and further discussion which used to be here have been lost. Keep this in mind when replying. Our hope is to rebuild what is missing.
