Excellent presentation of ideas, its good to see a Journal that strips everything back and start in the smallest possible way. A keeper, archesrule29!

Indeed- well, at least I hope. So long as I don't do something stupid that sets the CJ into a position where it's not development that's being displayed, but instead just setting out a slew of "Keep on waitin', boy!' messages.

    aleko

Yeah, I'm sorry for keeping you waiting in that. I suck.

    simtastico

Most unfortunely, this one doesn't have many. Sorry. You may now punch me. In the face.

    waiyeap90

Yup. I wonder if I can take this into the future....

I suppose that would cross 100 pages, though.

    jacqulina

    Thanks!

    jjune4991

    Okay, I will.

    lalginho

    Thank you very much, Lalginho.

    etherian

Thanks. Eventually, you'll be seeing a great many things from the Loughlians.

    yoshiisland

Thank you, I'm glad to see you replying again!

    kiwi n grapes

    And you're gonna get it.

    cypherus

Yup, the only problem I see is crowding...

But I think the Loughlians will find a way around it.

    lucky7

Thanks! Everyone seems to like the concept.

    fern244

Thank you very much. Y'know, the original name was Fourley. Sounds more like a sour bread of sorts.

Okay, on to the actual CJ! (I suppose that's my catch-phrase.)

The Loughlians have begun to realize- they aren't the only ones who like an abundance of food. The newly expanded farms have become very popular with local wildlife- not exactly a good thing, as that means the abudance of food at the farms are gone- the wildlife has eaten it all. So, the Loughlians began to think of ways to defend their crops. At first, patrolling around farms seemed to be smart. Then of course, some animals felt threatened by the patrolling Loughlians, and therefore some serious injuries occured. Patrolling was also tiring at night, so people had less energy to harvest food. So, another idea came up. Why not build something to block the animals from the food? Why not build something that always would be there? Why not build a fence?

    LoughleyVillage5.jpg

The idea caught on instantly. Soon, after gathering enough fallen logs, the Loughlians had officially built a proper fence. It was very effective. Soon, the moose, llamas and bears stopped eating the Loughlian crops, and once again, the Loughlians could feast- and not have to share with wildlife.

Also, as you can see in the picture, there have been further improvements to the new Loughlian house design. Spare logs from the fence project have were placed and tied to the wooden frame, and it shows- the Loughlians are really making progress.

Loughlians become innovative and learn from error! If it was me I would hunt the moose and llamas. The bears...Not soo much.

Heh, actually that'd be a smart idea! I mean, sure they've only got spears and haven't got the slightest clue what an arrow is, but I can imagine they'd really enjoy the extra meat!

    jacqulina

    Thanks!

    ON TO THE CJ!

The Loughlians are beginning to hit an point in their civilization where things are moving much faster. They're hitting a time where productiveness has kicked into overdrive and everything is moving extremely quick that everything would appear a blur. The Loughlians are hitting a time of innovation, invention and change towards how work is done. And that age would all start with the completion of the first Loughlian house with standing walls.

    LoughleyVillage6.jpg

Once it was finished, the builders were caught in a gust of relief. They had completed the building. It stood up to its purpose. As people walked inside, they felt much less claustrophobic than before. And it all began. Out with the dome shaped building, in with the straight walled building. Also, inside the building was the first fireplace. The fireplace was made directly in the middle, and partially surrounded to prevent the spread of smoke, but also to allow new wood to be put in.

If the new building design had not amazed the Loughlians entirely, then the next thing to come would. As one Louglian was inspecting his spear by holding it upright, he accidentally dropped it while inspecting the bottom for any bugs gnawing at the wood. The long side of the spear's tip fell on a small sapling. The Loughlian watched as the tree fell down and he realized, if this were to be done with other trees, then gathering fallen logs would be of the past! He soon told other Loughlians of this, and soon a specially designed tool was created for cutting trees. The Loughlians proudly named it an axe.

    LoughleyAxe.jpg

And then came another matter. When the elevated storage tower was being created, workers reported of a mountain. Hunters and foragers were quick to confirm that. But why is it here? Why are we here? Soon, the two questions merged into one answer- we are here because of the mountain.

    LoughleyMountain2.jpg

The Loughlians thought the mountain had created them, to see what Loughlians would do. Loughlians thought they were required to be grateful to the mountain, and maybe it would return the favour by good harvest, and more animals. In the end, the Loughlians had created a religion all about praise and gifts towards the mountain for gifts and praise in return.

Thanks! I think they won't be staying primative for long, though!

    ON TO THE CJ!

Last week, the Loughians were testing out a truly amazing invention- a fireplace. Sure, Loughlians had set fires in homes, but they always would billow smoke into the houses, causing suffocation forthe residents. Therefore a chimney would be cut into the houses, and the houses shaped like domes to force the smoke into the hole, or as they called it, the chimney. The only problem was, the holes at the tops of houses were far too small to keep up with the added smoke. So, the obvious solution was to make the holes bigger. But that allowed alot of rain to enter the house. So, houses remained fireless.

Then, recently came the invention of the fireplace. It would trap the smoke, therefore preventing it from entering the living area of homes. The smoke would exit from a hole in the top, with the same diameter as the fireplace. It was considered genius. The Loughlians felt a grat amount of joy when it would be tested. Then suddenly, on the night of the test, joy was replaced with horror.

    LoughleyVillage7Fire.jpg

As the flame was lit, an ember flew from the open end of the fireplace. It flew straight onto one of the walls. The wall instantly caught on fire. Then, the entire building was engulfed in a towering flame. In less than 20 minutes, the entire building was set into ruin. The Loughlians were in utter shock. It couldn't have been the fireplace catching on fire, for it was made of clay, something they knew would not catch on fire. Then, they considered a loose ember flying onto one of the walls. This became the popular theory.

Indeed, just don't cut it out and place it on your monitor! That would be quite painful.

ON TO ZE CITY JOURNAL ACTUAL!

After the disaster of the newly developed building, Loughlians were shocked, and after identifiying the problem, set out to solve it immediately. Loughlians had no clue a single flying ember could be so destructive. They were scrambling to find ways to block any more loose embers. A stone or clay gate would be too heavy, and a wooden one would catch on fire. The Loughlians were totally stumped, creating outrageous ideas such as finding ways to make walls of water, to have a group of individuals constantly fan the flames back in, spinning the fireplace around at a rapid rate to make the fire dizzy, to prevent it from spewing embers. They were all truly strange, and quickly rejected. But then, one Loughlian exclaimed, "The mountain is angry at us! We should thank it more often!" The Loughlians, all buying into the theory that the mountain created them, were quick to accept this theory. And so, the Loughlians would now use prayer to prevent an ember from burning down their house.

         LoughleyRuins.jpg

         LoughleyVillage7.jpg

After the Loughlians accepted religion as the answer to preventing the burning of houses, there came the cleanup of the debris from the fire. Nearly every villager pitched in to pick up charred pieces of hide, and possibly recover a few supplies and morsels of wood which the fire had not consumed. The Loughlians finally got to the point where the only thing that would say there was a fire here was the fireplace and soot.

Loughlians used an axe to cut up the clay. As the Loughlian with the axe struck the fireplace, he noticed it was unusually hard. Very hard, in fact. He swung his axe at it again. No effect. He swung it to the point he had only taken out a tiny bit of fireplace, yet broke his axe. The Loughlian was shocked. Why wouldn't the fireplace break? He had a great amount of people axe, kick, punch and wrestle the peculiar fireplace until it was only rubble. The Loughlians all kept pieces of the strange fireplace. Great ideas of usage came up, the most popular being a building material. And why not?

great CJ, I love it, this reminds me of my anthropology class

but regarding the mountain, seriously, I would have picked the sun, or the sea, not o piece of rock. it could have been only a holy place, (like the native australians praise certain places)
