In the middle of a vast, endless sea lay a small island. This island was quite hospitable for wildlife, hence animals of all shapes and sizes grazed upon the rocky island, soared through the blue sky, and filled the clear ocean.

Yet with a land of such hospitality for the wild, a much stronger and intelligent species would come to the island, to explore the land, to tame the seas, and eventually, fill the island.

Soon, they mastered the arts of contruction, foraging, hunting, and began their camp. A set of two primitive dome buildings constructed out of clay and sticks were built, and very soon, they were populated by a small tribe of ten people.

A good start in a classic SC4 region representation :} I think it's not too easy to create a well balanced CJ this way - from a small camp to a big city. Let's see how it will be!

Thanks. Believe me, alot will. Really. Alot. But nothing like the first 15 minutes of Saving Private Ryan. Nothing like that.

Unfortunately, the computer I use is a shared computer. I could put something on my D drive though, but then it wouldn't work, for it must be unzipped into your plugins folder, which is on your C drive which the computer uses when there isn't enough RAM and my computer is... mildly laggy.

    criquette

    I guess it
may be a bit difficult, but a bit of good planning could solve that.

    geronimo

Yes, and cavemen they are! (Well, technically they're wigwam men, but you get the picture.)

    kingtitan

    Okay, thanks for your support.

    schulmanator

Well, let's just hope it doesn't wind up like my other CJs!

    38.gif

    Now, onto the actual CJ!

It is a time of great development for the small village of Loughley. New houses have been built with expert speed, and they are quite strong. The village people have been sent into a quest to keep warm, and in the end came with a groundbreaking discovery: controlled fire. After discovering this, decided to have one at a designated spot where it could keep everybody warm at night.

    LoughleyVillage2-1.jpg

Here is a picture of the campfire at night.

    LoughleyVillage2Night.jpg

As you can see in the picture, there is a teepee like building to the left of the rest of the village. This is a building that is soon to be a storage area for food, water and clothing storage. It is made completely of fallen logs, and the man who scaled up one of the logs to tie them together with a deer hair rope claimed to have seen a huge mountain.

Very nice start , I personally love the concept of moving through time and seeing places develop. I used to do that with my last Cj Preston. Lovely photoshopping.

I really love your storyline! I don't really mind the Maxis trees and water, because you have a good use of BATs and lots. I'll be back for more, you've got me hooked!

Thanks! Well, that's the good part of having Photoshop CS2!

    bbfan02

Thank you. It took... relatively long to make.

    mrjakeswar

Actually, I did. But you really don't want to see them up close. Really. You don't. Plus, the campfire tends to change from grass to concrete whenever you scroll. Sorry!

    shingure

Thank you! But I do think the fire is a bit off... anyway, I can tell you the town will evolve from simple wigwams and huts. (Yay! Maybe they'll get out of the stone age!)

    smarty218

Okay, thanks for the link! I'll try it out!

    suplado!

Thanks! I'll tell you right now, the huts will get even more diverse!

    jhrnemo

Okay, thanks! (It seems to me that not many people are fond of the default trees and water!)

    jacqulina

    Thanks, jacqulina!

    super_monkey

That's the concept I had in mind... thanks!

Now, onto the actual CJ! (I love saying/typing that.)

When we last left the Loughlians, they were beginning to build a great amount of housing and shelter. Now, they are continuing to build the previously seen storage building. So far, a small platform has been constructed for elevated storage. More claims of seeing a huge mountain pops up. This sparks a great level of curiosity among the villagers.

    Here is a picture.

    LoughleyVillage3.jpg

Also, a few of the Loughlians have began construction on a new kind of hut. The large dome shaped houses of the Loughlians, according to them, weren't very space effective. So, to answer this, they planned to build a house with totally vertical walls, so more could be put in one space, thus allowing it to house more people. Here is a picture of the construction. Just to tell you of the scale, on post is the about same height as a full grown human.

    LoughleyVillage3DifferentAngle.jpg

Now, there is also another event of note to put into this update. A truly genious citizen found it quite time consuming to forage for food. As opposed to looking closer, he wanted to make it closer. So, with that, he foraged for some plants on the ground, uprooted then, then replanted them in the village right next to the hut where he resided, after clearing the area of all grass. Henceforth, the farm was born!

This CJ is definitely going into my favorites. This sort of thing is always fun to follow, I love how you're starting out so simple; the discovery of fire was interesting, gives us more of an idea how much these people are growing. The farm part is great too!

I agree with Benedict, the picture size does add some sort of a nice touch for some reason. I'm not sure why, lol! It's nice to see a CJ that's nice and simple, with no fancy graphics, or fonts, colors, what not. Wonderful storyline too! Hope to see the village continuing to advance from huts to homes!

Wow. Two months without an update. I really have to get on SimCity 4 more often. Anyway, no, I haven't forgetten about Loughley, so don't fret. (Well, that was corny. 45.gif)

    LoughleyReplies.jpg

    benedict

Yes, I was going for an even picture size on all of the images. It gives it a bit of an organized look in my opinion.

    yoshiisland

Thanks! Strangely enough, even though I was planning to have fire already discovered, I couldn't help but notice the lack of a campfire, thus I slapped that part in.

    aceofspades

    Thanks!

    jrhnemo

Thank you! I was going for that... keeping it simple, while letting my CJ hold a certain style.

    IN ANY SENSE!

    On to the CJ!

The Loughlians have contiued upon a great many things. For one, the Storage Tower has been put into commision, holding a great amount of objects. The only problems the Loughlians face are birds, now. No more bears looking for a midnight snack, and seeing their stores as the best option.

Along with that, the construction of the new house has contiued. The villagers are quite enthusiastic about this new design, so more have pitched in. So far, only a few, pieces of the wall are up, but soon the Loughlians will have them finished. But it seems the roof is in question. So far, the brightest idea anyone has come up with is to make it flat, and use sticks and tree limbs.

Here is a picture of the village in its current state.

    LoughleyVillage4.jpg

The Loughlians have also found the idea of bringing berries and plants closer to the village a brilliant idea. An so, the villagers began to expand on the idea. more an more Loughlians are beginning to farm as opposed to forage. It saved time, thus making the amount of food greater. So to amplify the qualities of farms, the Loughlians decided to expand the currently existing one.

    LoughleyVillage4Farm.jpg

Also, it seems the farms are becoming a favourite with children- and animals.
