2. Be polite. Please post civilly. Speak to others as you would if they were standing in front of you - the anonymity of the net is not an excuse for poor manners and jerk-like conduct.

> Polite is often mistaken for nice.  But I'll admit that I'm not always polite.

8. No talk of politics or religion allowed here. If you feel the need, go to http://www.simcitycentral.net/ . They have a forum for that on their board.

Im not sure if they enforce that number 8 there. If they did, half this site would probably be banned. I think what they really mean is you cant force your beleifs on someone or try and bash someone elses beleifs. They don't care if you are having an intelligent polite discussion on politics or religion.

but God isn't a logical thing,

This particular analogy was contemporaneous. The walls of Jerusalem had a very narrow gate, called the Eye of the Needle. In order for trade caravans to use the gate, the camels would have to be unloaded first because they wouldn't fit while they were loaded.  The underlying message was that a rich man would have to 'unload his baggage', so to speak. Not necessarily become poor, but rather lose the pride, arrogance, and lack of compassion that riches tend to bring a person and humble himself before God.

Yes, God is logical. If God is the root source of logic, then He must practice it as well. Logical thinking is not at odds with religion; regardless of those who disagree.  Eastern influences have bred the logical facet out of Christianity in favor of vague mysticism. Professor John Robbins did a lengthy series of lectures on logical thinking and how it relates to Christianity.

but all of this is kinda off-topic, my apologies to those offended.

Back on-topic...

So...did he use Shake-n-bake?

Thanks for pointing that out.  You're right Christianity does adhere to logic more often.

I always feel attacked when God is questioned, because I feel people think Christians are illogical wackjobs.

O well, rule number 8, haha, I don't know if they can be a civilized, intelligent discussion of religion.

We are testing to see if that rule can be relaxed.  The new wording would be something like "Religion and politics can only be discussed if people discuss the issues and not each other".

So far, results are mixed.  Some days, people manage to discuss the issues and not each other.  Other days, not so much.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

They certainly do not enforce § 8 here.

Well, if you're going to discuss religion, you'll have to question anyway. And why do you feel yourself personally attacked? I question God all the time, as I find those who write about God, his Son and their insubstantial friend The Holy Ghost, as well as those who translate, incoherent. If you're an American, is it because it's more rooted in the public than in Europe?

If you look closely you can see a "666" on the red nose of that evil beast!

Anyone who takes the Bible litterally, can't take the whole thing litterally, as it plainly says it is not all literal.

Well now you have me confused. 42.gif

Apparently this poor man was a bit confused too. Maybe he figured microwaving would do enough damage to ensure that the hand could not be surgically re-attached.

Speaking of literally... I wonder if the guy literally did see a 666 or 616 or whatever sign on his hand or if he just looked at his hand and knew/thought that in his mind, his hand had done something wrong or caused a sin or whatever and therefore decided it was evil and lopped it off and microwaved it to further excise any demons in it.

And speaking of demons, there was a case the other day here in DC where marshalls went in to evict a woman and found four dead kids. Turns out, she says they were posessed by demons and "died in their sleep". She was charged. Kids had been dead for weeks.

Guess a lot of people are seeing demons these days, no?

The poor guy was probably just really, really hungry, and he had nothing to eat. Hey! it's what I would've done. Do you know how gut wrenching tose things you Americans call pizzas are? 3.gif

My father is an elder at a local congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, but my mom is a catholic. But yet, they love each other very much and respect each other's values and morals and are still married!

I've started to follow my dad's beliefs now, and I am an Unbaptized Publisher(major step towards baptism)

Anyways, we believe that the Sun will not burn out in 5 Billion years, that the Milky Way Galaxy will not swallow in on itself in the so-called Mega Black Hole, or that Gravity will pull the Universe into The Big Crunch.

If you look closely, scientists and historians who appear in documentaries like those on History Channel, Science Channel, etc. always change they're theories, and they don't match whatsoever.

The man is clearly deranged.  How long have Christian church bells been ringing out "No-hell, No-hell, No-hell,..."
