I am deciding between A and C, for some interesting reasons...

A -- because it's midway between the developed areas, and all you need to do is to either expand (if the lot is already in place) or construct (if otherwise) the airport, along with a highway and a rail/subway system to connect them to the cities. Another advantage of A is that you can build a ferry system to and from the airport because your region seems to be connected with canals and waterways, which will be an excellent form of alternative transport to the airport (modeled like Hong Kong Airport -- see http://www.hongkongairport.com/ and click on the transit connections link to China). The disadvantage, though, of A is that being a little far from the commercial areas, it will take travelers at least 45 minutes to an hour to get to the cities, in which you need to build an ultimate highway system to bring everyone to work.

C -- since you already have 3 airports in place, you can let the aircraft fly to lot C because it's easier to do things. It is close to the commercial areas, meaning less time commuting needed for airline travelers. But, potential challenges for C include: a complicated highway system that will take those living in the northern and western region more time to commute to and from the airport because of distance; needs a large-scale ferry system to connect the airport to the rest of the region; and it can be more challenging to build on a reclamation area that can potentially give you problems while constructing a long runway towards the water!

I'll give you some ideas on a water-based airport (airports that are situated in the middle of the water), if you ever want B or C (these airports are also available at Wikipedia):

> Hong Kong International Airport (a.k.a. Chek Lap Kok) -- http://www.hongkongairport.com/

> Japan's Kansai Airport (Osaka) -- http://www.kiac.co.jp/en/

> Japan's Chubu Centrair International Airport (Nagoya) -- http://www.centrair.jp/en/index.html

> Macau's Taipa International Airport (Macau SAR, China) -- http://www.macau-airport.gov.mo/en/index.php

I hope I can really help you decide a great airport for your region... 4.gif

I'd have to say A, 'cause it looks like the closest you can get to urban areas with nice flat land. I impatiently await construction of the airport soon!

Have you ever considered trying to add/make a space port like that Jenquai one in I forget which system (except adopted for land, naturally)? It's visible in the intro though, at around 25ish seconds.

On an unrelated note, I wonder what a V'rex region would look like. 4b1b6!

EDIT: Such a spaceport could be modded to serve as an airport. Furthermore, I'm assuming you want to keep something tied to space, considering the name is "Greater Terran Region".

I say C. It is located closer to the GTR but A is a good spot to.

    Update time!

I have a large update in store for all of you!   44.gif  Also, over at SC4D, The Greater Terran Region has become a Bestseller Mayor`s diary, a big milestones for CJ`s over there!  (100 replies or more)

Thanks everyone for voting!  The results are in!  I took sample polls from three areas and there was a clear winner in each.

    The GTR @ ST's results:

    uinhj.jpg

    ST chat results:

    Clipboard01awd.jpg

    The GTR @ SC4D's results:

    Clipboard01df.jpg

    Total:

    FINAL.jpg

It looks like site A is the winner!  The construction of Terra International Airport in this location will begin shortly!

But enough about the stats. Now its time for some pictures!   4.gif

    Picture Information:

    NOTICE:  Please Read!

Before I post some pictures of my cities, please know that I strive for the best quality of my images possible.  Every picture from here on-in is not photoshopped in any way, and is taken directly from the game to show you exactly what I see in the game.  The only editing done is converting the .PNG file to .JPEG.

***IMPORTANT***    Also, please know that my pictures are COMPRESSED, and are NOT RESIZED! When you resize a picture, a ton of the image's quality is lost, and is shrunk to comply with ST's picture size limits.  Compressing the image retains the quality, but looks terrible when squeezed to comply with site limits.

But, I have found a loophole in this problem.  Each compressed picture displayed will be linked to the actual uncompressed, true image.  All you have to do to view the image in its FULL RESOLUTION (1920x1200) is to simply click on the compressed image displayed in this city journal (800x500).  The reason that the images are not 800x600 is because I present my pictures in widescreen (16:10 aspect ratio), making the image much more appealing for the human eye's stereoscopic vision.

If you have any questions or comments about how I display my images, feel free to post a reply.

The GTR's road network is expanding at a unprecedented pace in order to encourage growth away from the dense urban centres.

A zoomed out shot of a new RHW running parallel to a lake.

    Inverness-Jun30001216501273.jpg

But the region's mass transit system is expanding too.  New hubs constructed in the outskirts of town were made to handle inter-regional commuters.  A new trans-regional bullet train network will zip sims all over The GTR.  Here is a shot of a bullet train bridge being constructed.  The highway above runs parallel to this network.

    FernisBay-Jul31001216309354-1.jpg

In the city of Escape, a new pair of Y-junctions dramatically decrease the time it takes for commuters to reach the Mar Sara Bridge and the main district to the north.  This should also counter the abandonment problem in this area which is mainly due to long commute times.

    Escape-Mar15401215910403.jpg

A cluster of one-way roads provide direct links to various areas of Escape's southern CBD.

    Escape-Mar4401215910292.jpg

Where two new RHWs meet, a new RHW interchange needs to be made.  The terrain in this area will make it challenging to construct a full interchange here.

A few moments later, work on the main overpass has already begun:

Lastly, I will leave you with a zoom out of Site A; the site you have selected for The Greater Terran Region's new airport.

Well, that does it for now.  I hoped you enjoyed this update!

There always seems to be plenty of transportation improvements and expansions going on. Nothing wrong with that at all. 2.gif The new RHW interchange looks like it's going to be a tricky situation. And yeah, that empty land is just screaming to be built on! 3.gif

Patricius Maximus:  Great to hear that!

Cidwm:  Wow, thanks a ton for your comment!

-For leveling, I use the slope mod that comes with the bullet train network most of the time.  There are other slope mods you can download on the STEX.

    Jim1994:  Hey, thanks a lot!

-That bullet train bridge is a rail (bullet trian rail) bridge, but its under construction.  Track has not yet been layed.

ky72x:  Yep, it comes second-nature to the GTR!  It is going to be a big job to construct that interchange, but with that comes development!

068664663:  So am I!  Thanks for the comment!

beebs:  Thanks a lot!  Neither can I!

    Update time!

I have another video to show!  So grab grab a chair, pop that corn and enjoy!

Following the success of the UDI videos I have posted before, this one is set in The GTR's downtown core and takes a ride on a wide Multi-RHW.

A Youtube video box should appear below.  If you can't see it or are having problems, follow the link below it.  Make sure you turn up your speakers!

    I hope you enjoy it!

    Best,

    -Haljackey

Love that milti-lane RHW, warms me to the core every time i see it.

I had a good laugh when you had to cut your way back into all that congested traffic to get into the middle in side lanes. haha 9.gif

The video looks great. I like the multi-RHW. I've seen it in snapshots before.

zangle06: Regions are not permitted on the STEX. Also, I'd advise using better grammar in your posts for greater clarity.

Hey there! What a nice vid man. You are a good driver, I don't usually last that long in the udrive mode...I just hit random cars and my car makes booom so easily lol. At least you could drive for 8 minutes and 20 seconds! I also love those scenarios, like the new interchange placement. Its going to be amazing to see how an interchange appears there.

And I look forward to see what does that tile turn like in the future airport developement. Good job dude
