edmonton_stinks: Thanks!  You can link them up without ending the collectors, but it does take quite a lot of extra space on either side.  Here's a real life example:

    http://maps.google.com/maps?q=toronto&t=k&hl=en&ie=UTF8&om=1&ll=43.718753,-79.499506&spn=0.003916,0.010042&z=17&iwloc=addr

-And yes, it is on wikipedia!

Smarty218:  Thanks a lot!  Y-stacks are cool!  I wish they didn't abandon the one for highways though...

vivydu29: Thanks, thanks!  Its busy and beautiful!

suplado!: Glad to see you back!  Thanks for the comment!

kj3400: 3 updates, that's right! Its okay if you miss them tough, we all have lives...  Yep, that one is on wikipedia.  Thanks for the comments!

d_man18: I am basing it off of the 401.  I use transfers to get traffic to use the different routes, there was one on the first picture of the last update if you look closely!  It takes time to learn this stuff, I'll tell you that!

jacqulina: Thanks!  Your feedback is always appreciated!

dfnva:  LOL!  Its mainly there for eyecandy, but its a good point!  The reason the signs are blue is to differentiate them from the express lanes.  The new toll highway also uses white-on-blue signage.

-I am not from Toronto, but it is a only a few hours drive away (I live in London).  All I need to do is take the 401 directly there!

068664663: You can find the HOV Lanes here:

Hamish: Thanks! You can find the HOV Lanes here:

    Update time!

Its time for another region update! (Thanks to voulpiotis for the request!) A lot of work is being done on city expansion, but the population hasn't changed much.

I presumed as such for the blue BGS's. Looking at the pics of Rte. 401, it's very similar to I-270 in suburban Maryland just outside of Washington, DC, with exits onto the local lanes in between the actual exits and such, except it looks like there are more lanes on Rte. 401.

    So many skyscrapers...

The only problem is that you can't emulate the 401 ingame because there are no exits to the left, or entrances to the right. Otherwise, it'd be no problem.

dfnva: BGS's??? What does that mean? 42.gif

kj3400: Thanks a lot!  You may need to wait a while for the region to be filled! 3.gif

    Smarty218: Sprawl? Where?

-Current region population stands at around 10.8 million residents.

edmonton_stinks:  LOL!  Actually, there isn't manyleft-hand exits on the highway, and I am aiming to make them safer by having them on the right.

hamish: Yep, Its big!  I hope its not too big...

    Update time!

Here is a new look at some city development.  Also, the new Casino is now finished as well as a shrine!

I hope you enjoy the pictures!

    Picture Information:

    NOTICE:  Please Read!

Before I post some pictures of my cities, please know that I strive for the best quality of my images possible.  Every picture from here on-in is not photoshopped in any way, and is taken directly from the game to show you exactly what I see in the game.  The only editing done is converting the .PNG file to .JPEG.

***IMPORTANT***    Also, please know that my pictures are COMPRESSED, and are NOT RESIZED! When you resize a picture, a ton of the image's quality is lost, and is shrunk to comply with ST's picture size limits.  Compressing the image retains the quality, but looks terrible when squeezed to comply with site limits.

But, I have found a loophole in this problem.  Each compressed picture displayed will be linked to the actual uncompressed, true image.  All you have to do to view the image in its FULL RESOLUTION (1440x900) is to simply click on the compressed image displayed in this city journal (800x500).  The reason that the images are not 800x600 is because I present my pictures in widescreen (16:10 aspect ratio), making the image much more appealing for the human eye's stereoscopic vision.

If you have any questions or comments about how I display my images, feel free to post a reply.

The last remaining open land of the city.  The new hotel/casino is now open on the left, and a new shrine to the right.  This shrine is where the mayor gathers his truly awesome power...  Meh, just joking, but it does serve as some nice open space that the public is calling for in this area of town.

Could there be both left and right-hand exits? I know most exits are right-hand only, but the left hand ones would be very useful for linking up RHW-8's.

Nice development! The hotel and casino are fantastic.

A BGS is a big green sign, i.e. the guide signs on freeways. That's why I hesitate to say Blue BGS on the C-D ramps.

edmonton_stinks:  Yes, but you would have to space your RHW/highways apart and use one-ways instead of the MIS for now.  It would be a useful toll indeed!

Shingure:  Thanks!  If you want a tutorial, I just posted another guide in the RHW thread here at Simtropolis.  I also made the Multi-RHW guide a while ago and I show a ton of examples both here and in the "Show Us Your Interchanges" Thread.

-If you still need help, don't hesitate to PM me!

kj3400: Thanks a lot!  You bet thats what the mayor does!  He really does enjoy playing Blackjack and Texas Hold'em!

dfnva:  Ah, you learn something new everyday.  I hope you enjoyed the update!

suplado!:  Hey, thanks!  Its not all the roads, eh?  The buildings look cool too!

Schulmanator:  Wow!  Thanks so much!  LOL, I love this stuff so much I should make a career of it (picking my major right now).

Smarty218:  Yay!  (I didn't even notice, LOL!).  Glad you liked it!

jacqulina:  Thanks a lot for the comments, I hope you are enjoying it!

    Update time!

I have a special update you on this, the first day of March.  If it wasn't for that leap day yesterday, it would have come sooner 3.gif!

Anyways, its time to take a look at the city to the east of Downtown: Mighty Mouth!  This update will contain some info and some pictures of the city.  It is 100% developed, and its dense!

    City:

    http://aycu30.webshots.com/image/43749/2001819620364535698_rs.jpg

Transport: (Yes, I have a new transportation mod installed!)

    http://aycu22.webshots.com/image/46981/2001815436247500684_rs.jpg

    City stats:

    Residential population: 565,938

    Commercial: 785,350

    Industrial: 0

As you can see, this city is NOT a bedroom community, and a huge employer for the region!

Now, on to 10 pictures of the city!  I hope you like it!

A major railroad station in a picture dominated by the huge skyline:

    http://aycu25.webshots.com/image/46864/2000835142794774753_rs.jpg

An "old school" RHW serves as a small expressway that provides a direct link with Downtown:

    http://aycu36.webshots.com/image/47315/2000860836329896545_rs.jpg

A major junction on another RHW as well as another insane interchange to the right:

    http://aycu36.webshots.com/image/44355/2000878966995584167_rs.jpg

Tunnel entrance.  The RHW goes underground through much of the city, similar to Boston in Real Life!

    http://aycu15.webshots.com/image/46014/2000830947910957354_rs.jpg

A highway curve near the shoreline.  A bullet train line also curves itself through this rich part of town:

    http://aycu22.webshots.com/image/43741/2000829574187541922_rs.jpg

Highway and rails right on the shoreline.  There was no other place in the city for an artery, so it had to be placed here.

    http://aycu27.webshots.com/image/47186/2000859362789313238_rs.jpg

    Seaside skyline.

    http://aycu01.webshots.com/image/47600/2000855253897548257_rs.jpg

Beachfront and a tunnel entrance.  The highway stays sunken on one side as the wall to the left protects the rest of the city from erosion.

    http://aycu09.webshots.com/image/43968/2000859189128895399_rs.jpg

The beach.  Oddly enough, the skyline is dominated by the Maxis skyscrapers!  The RHW serves as a great connector to the beach!

    http://aycu27.webshots.com/image/46466/2000861263156445372_rs.jpg

Wetlands surrounded by interchanges further inland:

Anyways, thats 10 photos of Mighty Mouth.  I hope you enjoyed them and more are to come!

Let me know what you think of this coastal city.  Remember this isn't a port city, but a huge place of business!

gabry85:  Awesome, thank you!  Glad you like the beach; its different, eh?

Patricius Maximus: Thanks for stopping by!  Thanks for the reply, glad you like the highways!

    Update time!

Here is another showcase of the city of Mighty Mouth.  As you can see, it has a lot more mass-transit and water than Downtown.

I hope you enjoy more pictures!  (I now try to limit my updates to 10 photos each to make it easier for people with slower connections.)

    Pictures:

A nice smooth slope and interchange near the Mighty Mouth Bridge: a long suspension bridge that links up the two sections of the city together.

    http://aycu29.webshots.com/image/46628/2002900942475241679_rs.jpg

Further down the connecting highway, a very unique t-bone interchange and intersection exists.

    http://aycu13.webshots.com/image/46132/2002960590566379121_rs.jpg

This highway has a lot of bus traffic, eh?  Many commuters take the bus to cross the bridge.

    http://aycu05.webshots.com/image/47204/2002908317587829686_rs.jpg

On the other side of the mouth is another graded decent to the shore:

Back on the mainland, there is a large rail/bullet train transfer and railyard.
