Well i listen to so many bands that i don't have time to mention them But here's some, very different styles, everything from blackmetal to ambient.

Alice in Chains, Porcupine Tree, Boards Of Canada, Isis, Kyuss, Queens of the stoneage, Anathema, Dimmu Borgir, W.A.S.P, El Caco, Kreator, Ulver, Type O Negative, Klaus Schulze, Biosphere etc etc etc

I don't have a problem about people liking dimmu though

yay somone else mentioned them.. COHEED AND CAMBRIA . one of my all time fav bands. finally got to see them earlier this year which was a really great experience. listening to their new alb alot .. i had my reservations but its growing on me lol...

band im listening to at the mo, which my friend showed me to them, is CARTEL. very different to coheed.. but different is good...

Picking a favorite entitles; picking a style and sound, that has influenced me, as well as the Music industry as a whole.

 

Then we must, break that down to specific genres, that take differing directions, style-wise and mood-wise.

 

My favorites are:

2. AC/DC

3. Beethoven

4. The Who

5. Chet Atkins

 

In that order.
