    thanks everyone!

Yeah i am from chicago, currently the far north side neighborhood of Rogers Park, and ride the train to work in the loop, gives me tons of inspiration, so many amazing urban landscapes around here.

look for more pics soon, i have a sweet port, industrial city i'm eager to show.

    Wow, just wow.

I think if you had showed people a city like that just two or three years ago, people would have never believed that it was even possible to make something so awesome in SC4. Keep the inspirational stuff coming, I always get so many good ideas from your CJ's and I'm always left thinking, damn it- why didn't I think of that... Rock on AK!

You sure deserve those trixies aleking, this was one of your greatest updates yet. The sunken rail system looks like the one in my cj, Brooekshire. You've done a fantastic job building this city. The canal and the bordering subrban houses look great. The high-rises in the downtown creates a great urban feel. The condos blend well on the rest of the cityscape, and the diagonal apartments are very unique. One thing that really stuck out is the elevated rail. The stone supports go well with the houses and I'm impressed you managed to hide any jagged edges.

PS Could you tell me where you got that rail texture?

    Keep it up!

    my god, you are amazing....

the arrangement, the gradual decrease from high-rise to suburban house, sunken rail, it's all perfect! just take your trixie for 2008, and save us a whole lot of time.

I'm sick.  No really, I am.  My face is an unnatural green color...of course, that could be from jealousy.

Just answer me this, AK: why the hell do you have to be so good at this game 46.gif?  I have yet to figure this one out.  And it's every single picture; if my eyes had a mouth, it'd have no teeth from all the candy you feed them (that makes no sense...oh, well 34.gif).

Actually, there were a couple of things that...ahh, stood out in these pictures, let's say.  In the update on 1/06/08 at 2:40 p.m. (CST), you posted that picture of the Elevated Rail with the new filler scenery.  I haven't exactly figured out whether I love it or not.  I see it right next to the road and it looks awesome... but then I look at the north side of the picture and I see the rail next to those apartments.  I don't know...I like both the apartments and the rail, but the scale of them seems a bit odd to me.  The rail looks like it goes half way up that building...but maybe that's due to the angle.  I don't know...and anyways, it's no fault of yours either way.

The second picture of that update...heh heh...I made a few of those brick textures to use as walls in the LE...except mine have beach sand at the bottom instead of the urban tiles.  I like that picture, though...I really like that picture!

But it was seeing your next update that really made me sick.  Because, well...it's just that awe-inspiring.  Here we are again with your masterful mixing of building styles...Asian, European, and American all together.  And verily I say unto you, it has never looked better!  I mean geez, man, even all of the parking lots on the buildings face the right way!  The rails are awesome, as well...love that picture with the elevated rail going over the ground rails out of the station, and that (Victorian?) El-rail viaduct might be the first example of an elevated rail that actually fits in a suburban residential area.

So yes...I'm freakin' sick due to jealousy.  And I'll puke on your shoes.  Then get down on my knees and bow to you, Sir King.  Masterful, simply masterful 44.gif!

    Ewww...now there's vomit on my jeans! 14.gif

Great update as usual. I like the new retaining walls you're using. They work better in an urban environment than buddyduds.

Yeah, one of the biggest issues i have with the new textures that go under the el-rail are that they are dependant upon what grows next to them, you can't just plop what looks best, but i must agree, the scales looks a bit off,  I'm thinking for now they're best utilized in urban areas with highrise, which is why it looks better in downtown, then i had the probelm where you couldn't really see the concrete underneath the rail because the highrise would block the view, so i tried to place plazas on one side to make it visible, i'm still patiently waiting for buddybuds latest, then i can really get going 4.gif

    thanks buddy, Alek

oh and those rail textures are from japanese BATer NOB you can find the link in the japanese BAT guide thread, the best part is the mod comes with grass textures (see previous updates) and stone.  His site also has the walls seen above and the sunken rail station.

    No porki?

awesome city. good to see ya branching out 3.gif Nice job with all those glass london skyscrapers too, they are fricking awesome. Although i don't agree with safeco in a european city. The people would just walk by, spit on it and say "im too proper and stuck up to watch this BORING american game. Im going to watch a fascinating game of cricket over a nice cup o tea".

damn, you better be from chicago like i think you are, or you might be pissed 3.gif

lol, yeah i'm from chicago, i thought about putting a nice soccer stadium there, but meh, that's just too cool of a bat, maybe i should change it to make it more realistic though.

And there is porki! your just not looking hard enough, closeups to come later, thanks and glad you appreciate the change in pace.

Great work again. I can certainly see why its taking forever to make. Top notch work takes a while! haha. On a nearly unrelated note, that blue circular disk in pics 1 and 2 looks distrubingly like something I designed in my architecture class a year or so ago... my prof didn't like it, but I still think it looks good. lol. Keep it up.
