Pedriana's Plants and her monopoly

I love SimCity 4's various quirks and antics, seriously.

Anyway, everytime I've tried to build a farming city lately I keep getting nothing but the ugly Pedriana's Plant farm buildings regardless of farm size. I've tried different building styles, different farm sizes, and other such stuff and I still get only a load of Pedriana. The only thing I can think of that would affect this is my I-AG demand being shot through the roof.

If I get lucky, MAYBE I'll get something other than Pedriana once in maybe 12 Pedrianas or so, but that's still lots and lots of Pedrianas.

Is there anyway to delete/kick Pedriana completely out of my towns or, barring that, any way to make the other farm buildings like Jez Knight Acres appear? I don't have stocks in Pedriana, for crying out loud. >_>

I didn't realize this problem was an epidemic worthy of a mod. o.O

Thanks for the links, I'll try it out and edit this post later with the results. =3

EDIT: It worked. No Pedrianas in sight. =3!

For more variety check out "Rural Variety Pack" Its here on the stex, just type that name into the keyword search. It gives you more farms. There oldies but goodies. And yes I use the mod to keep out the Pedriana's.

Also, there are a lot of custom farms or farm buildings on the STEX for you to download, and also on SC4 Devotion.

I had been using the mod for quite sometime and Pedriana never appeared. Recently in my region I have began focusing on the rural areas surrounding the city and Pedriana has started showing up again. I checked my plugins and I noticed that it was missing so I reinstalled it and now Pedriana is still being built. Does anyone know if this mod conflicts with anything else?

When you get the Pedriana thing, remove it (just the building, not the whole farm) and zone light residential. You will get a mansion or something if you're lucky (use the older architectural styles) and it looks like a farm house. For employment, keep one or two Pedrianas, and add a small village with shoppes. You can also dezone the Pedriana and rezone farm over it, it might come back as something different.

The Pedriana family is a filthy stinkin rich family who owns conglomerates out the butt hole on Sim City 4. They even have their own Mega Mansion on the game. Really, you'd be lucky to even have them invest in your city. I'll admit, they do get annoying after while though.

That's strange. In all my cities, Pumpkin Acres has the monopoly on farmland. I've seen Pedriana develop just once!

Ah, I just discovered the reason for that. One of the top creators for SC4 has the last name "Pedriana". It's the same case with all the buildings. They somehow have a name related to the creators.

haha yes, also Barthelet Stables and the Barthelet Corporation come from Luc Barthelet, who worked at EA and became the general manager at Maxis when EA bought it. He helped them out of debt and directed them to even greater success. 2.gif

Hmm. Where did my post go?

I will now reattach the picture that wrangled up this old thread...

Just another example of why I love the Pedriana's Plant Killer mod.

Too bad. 2023 is here. Newbies infested with pedrianas like me will like this topic.
