The Pentagon Project

Over at SCC, someone brought up a request for The Pentagon. I don't think anyone has ever attempted to do the Pentagon for SC4, and as I also think it's an awesome building, I decided to take a shot at getting it into the game. Especially its huge size makes it quite a challenge.

The building will sit on a huge lot of approximately 25x25 tiles!

Here are a few pictures of the current progress. As you can see even the largest lighting rig is too small to fully light the model. I'm probably going to split it in 4 for the final exporting.

Here's the front facade a little closer up:

As you can see I've started work on the other sides of the building. The sides of the building are very similar so I can do a lot of copy-pasting (or cloning in 3d studio max jargon), yet there also are lots of little differences that I'll try to put into my model as much as possible.

Also did the walkways on the roof today:

I'm trying to learn how to make B.A.T.s so I was wondering if you could send me one of your B.A.T. files so I can see exactly how it is done. All I'm going to do is kind of dissect it so I can see how you made it. If you can do that for me it would be greatly appreciated. If you do send it send it to Kopaka554@yahoo.com

Wow!! That is amazing. I was waiting for someone to make the Pentagon forever.

I can't believe how fast you got to this point. It looks almost done. It looks incredibly realistic from what I can tell. Its beautiful. I can't wait until its at the Stex. Excellent work. 44.gif

P.S. I think you should make some sort of refrence to 9/11/01 with the lot.

This looks AWESOME, but I have a question.  Aren't there five levels to the Pentagon.  What I have heard is that the Pentagon is a triple five building.  What that means is that the Pentagon has five levels, five sides, and five acres of land in the middle.  Wait, are the other two levels in the basement?

You are correct; the pentagon has 5 floors, but that figure includes the basement.

Thanks all for your wonderful comments! 9.gif

I started on the inner courtyard. Since I couldn't make out what was in the center on the reference photographs I use, I put a swirly statue/fountain in there. I'm considering making the grass texture a bit darker... I think it looks a bit too neon coloured at the moment.

Looking great Oppie. While we are on the subject on military/defense buildings, how about the CIA headquarters in Langley, VA? That would be another great building.
