I'd say the Wii sold the best because it has huge appeal to people who normally aren't that into video games. Everyone and their grandmother wants one. They're still hard to find despite having been out for two years.

You have to admit the graphics for the SNES are still pretty good though. quote>

For its time, definitely. No PC in 1991 was anywhere near capable of what the SNES was. Still, by today's standards (which it is, admittedly, unfair to hold it to), it's graphics are very old-fashioned.

When I was first introduced to video games they didn't have any kiddy games.quote>

"Kiddy games" existed before games with blood and gore did, so I don't see how that's possible.

Heck, I was a six year old blowing people's head's off and stealing cars on GTA 3,quote>

I'd question the responsibility of letting a six year old kid play Grand Theft Auto... but if your parents let you.

Also, you're dating yourself here. Grand Theft Auto 1 didn't exist yet when I was 6. 31.gif

...actually, if you're young enough to have been playing GTA3 at 6, that means you can't be any older than 12 now, which means you're not legally old enough to be a member of a forum. Hmm...30.gif

and some of the best games ever are rated "M" to.quote>

Never said there weren't good M rated games out there. The Duke Nukem series comes to mind in particular. You ever played Duke Nukem 3D? It's a classic.

But the rating doesn't make or break the game.

And for the fourth time.................I MEANT THEATRES!!!!!!!!32.gif I'm a member of secret website that changes names every 2 days, and yes it is SO ILLEGAL.............SHHHHHHHHHHHH41.gifquote>

If it's not a legitimate use of the system, it doesn't really count. If we're talking about pirating movies before they come out, you can do that with a computer, too. Why would you need a PS3 for it?

The Wii has HECKA problems. Mine always frezzes and randomly turns off AND the light on the disc thingy keeps turning blue and flashing even when the systems off. quote>

You just got unlucky. Mine works flawlessly.

The 360 ain't backwards compatible.quote>

I was under the impression that it could play some but not all original XBox games.

Still, that's poor design. There's no good reason why it couldn't be completely backwards compatible. Microsoft screwed that up.

Every person I know that's had a 360 has turned it in due to the red rings so I don't know what they're doing at microsoft. They should have stuck to computers. Violent games like GTAIV is what makes the world go round...... just kidding!!...quote>

Too bad you had so many problems with that Nintendo system, normally we as consumers don't pay money for problems.

When I made the point of problems with the three systems in general: it was problems that were (or are) so numerous that there was a threat of recalls.

The problems that I stated were mentioned as recurring problems from these news sources: CNN.com, Reuters.com, and videogamecentral.com.

I have yet to hear of a common, recurring problem large enough to be seen as a potential recall from the Nintendo Wii.

Have a good day.

Diablo_del_bano: some will work but not all

Ahmedg492: The PS3's online play isn't that bad my only objection to it is you can't play two player online. You're probably the only person I know that doesn't like Brawl's online play..and I applaud you for that. 44.gif

Shadow_Assassin: On the first half of that comment..........ENGLISH PLEASE!!!!!! I know BT isn't that practical but it works. Who's talking about illegal file sharing? If you've been a member of the site since before 1998 it's not illegal!!!3.gif I don't know does it make it acceptable?? I have a two Terrabyte external hardrive..you don't expext me to save 300 GB's of movies and such on a PS3 do you??? I'm admitting the motion sensing thing on Call of Duty 3 is kind of stupid and I know sony threw that in there to cpmpete with the Wii. That was a good post man. You ever consider going into writing for a newspaper??

haljackey: That was an awesome post by S_A

Yoshiisland: It's not illegal if you've been a member of the site since 1998, which I have been.3.gif.

Godzillaman: Some games are backwards compatible on the 360 not all.

Duke87: That kind of makes me mad though, I've been playing video games since I was 5 and now a bunch of *****s are coming into the video game world (no offense). I still like the graphics for the SNES  though, no matter how good the PS3's are. Oh you know what I mean, like all those games you plug into the t.v. or the ones for the Wii like carnival games or Wii play. Who said my parents let me play GTA 3......I was at my cousin's house. I'm older than 12 dude. True, rating doesn't make or break the game unless it's an awesome game that's rated "A", but that's very rare. You would need a PS3 for it if you want to watch it on Blu-Ray quality and on a 42 inch high def T.V. I probably did get unlucky with the messed up Wii, but ya know s***t happens. Some XBOX games work on the 360, but not all. Which made my desicion to get the PS3.

Harken: I didn't know CNN reported on video game stuff but whatever.

Add me to the list.

Actually, I don't like online play, period. The idea of playing against anonymous strangers is not appealing at all. I could go up against some master and get my ass handed to me or I could go up against some idiot who doesn't know what they're doing and have no fun. Or worse, I could go up against someone who's cheating. Maybe it's a tad old-fashioned of me, but I can't play against a human opponent if they're not sitting next to me. The thought totally creeps me out. I need to know who I'm up against.

Who said my parents let me play GTA 3......I was at my cousin's house.quote>

Your aunt and uncle let you play it, then.

I'm older than 12 dude. quote>

Either you're 12 or younger, or you weren't playing GTA 3 at 6 years old. That game came out in 2002. Six years ago (6+6=12). Being generous, if you were 6 when it came out fresh (in May of '02) you could maybe be 13 now. But you certainly couldn't have been 13 when you joined in April.

So in some way, your story isn't checking out.

A quick question SimCity related: does Maxis put SimCity on PlayStation 3?

I know that it is on the Nintendo DS Lite, and possibly the Wii, but I do not know if it is on the other consoles.

Thanks.

I would just like to add a few things here:

- Hideo Kojima recently said that anyone who claims that making games for the PS3 is totally wrong

- Sony put the PS3 in the market as a multimedia machine and now the PS3 is reasonably priced (

Dragonsblade79: The 360 ain't backwards compatible.

quote>

It is. You can play most original Xbox games on a 360 w/HDD. There is software on the HDD that makes it so the 360 can play the old Xbox games. Do your research.

Sorry, but it seems you missed out a few... words... there.

My point still stands, many developers choose to develop for the 360 because they're too lazy to sit down with the PS3 code and figure out how it all works. Also, Microsoft provides all of its documentation for the 360's code to developers, no questions asked. In the mind of a developer, think... who would be best to go with, considering money, chance of recouping costs, user install base?

Actually, they're not much more expensive than normal DVDs. There is a small additional cost, but when it comes to per-GB, Blu-Ray's cheaper. The only real cost is the actual DVD drive itself - but that's fast becoming a non-issue, since a normal Blu-Ray disc player is around $300 now here - and DVD players are around $150 or so.

I bought my PS3 as its future proof as many games such as MGS4, Gran Turismo 5 etc. would never fit on a 360 and so in the future the PS3 is expected to have more games just on that basis. MGS4 is like 30GB big and 360 discs only hold 8GB. I don't hate the 360 I just prefer my PS3 mainly for MGS4 and LittleBigPlanet plus I'll get MAG, Heavy Rain and Gran Turismo 5 when they come out.

I have an Xbox 360, but the other consoles are good as well...

If you want the best performance out of a video game, I suggest buying a PS3.

If you want to play with your friends online for a good time, an Xbox 360 is for you.

If you have children or fat kids in your family, the the Wii is perfect for you.

--There is really no right or wrong, it just depends on what style of gaming is best for you, in my case, it's hanging out with friends on Xbox Live

I have a wii and a pc right now, and really enjoy both. However, I believe a lot of the newer games will work better on other platforms than the PC, b/c I would need to get a super-computer upgrade, whereas the other platforms don't ever need those (I don't think)

The wii is really unique though; I feel like it's comparing apples to oranges. For those that enjoy family games, the wii is the way to go. But if you like action/other games then the other platforms come into play.

You threw out/ somehow got rid of your old systems?  Shame on you!  3.gif

One savior is actually the Wii!  The Virtual Console has a huge selection of retro games and its growing every week!  You can download classic games from just about every old system on there!

For example, I have Mario Kart 64 (N64), Sonic The Hedgehog (Sega Genesis), The Legend of Zelda (NES), Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (SNES), and Bomberman 93 (Turbographics 16) for my Wii.  And those are just a few of the games I've downloaded.

Trust me, its worth it.  After the cost of the Wii, games cost $10 US at the very most to download.

Best,

-Haljackey

I've got a wii and an xbox, the wii being my first game console I got it the Christmas after it was released, (I only got it because the shop assisstant my mum was talking to about the wii got us to skip the queue, which makes feel guilty when I heard someone asking for a wii who was waiting in the queue of about 5 people and there was none left)

When I got it I spent the whole day every day for a week and a bit and then the novelty wore and my brother started using it, I still go on it about once a week, but when I got a 360 2 years later(It cost

I had a 360 for two years. I played the good old H3, COD4, and many other games, but sadly it broke two weeks ago 15.gif

I definitely think it is by the best system though.

I still love my ps3 and with Heavy Rain coming out in only a few months and so many other great ps3 exclusives and multiplatform games I don't really need another console,

I'm gonna keep my post here short:

I will choose Xbox360 as the number 1

It's cheaper then the PS3, has only a little less graphics, has better online functionality (IMO)and got a general good range of games, I also prefer it's controller more.

Second comes the PS3, I would only buy it as a Replacement for my PS2, as a Blue-Ray player and for the occasional Exclusive. (MGS4 and some other games)

The Wii is at the bottom, but that's because it's made for Cassual and Non-Gamers, Also the graphics are sub par.

The only thing it has is the controller... not much for me...

XBox 360 yes of course the best for me. It did break once, but i sent it in for free, got it back in about two weeks and then started playing it fine again, and it still works after being fixed. Plus the graphics that can be put on this console makes the games fantastic. Half-Life 2 is by far one of the best games for it. Though I want to find Lost Planet for it..

Well..I've had the Xbox original and 360 ever since they came out and was pleased. The original Xbox was the sh*t until the next gen consoles came around. I purchased the 360 about 18 months after it was released to make sure they fixed all the bugs like RRoD. Worked fine and was impressed...at first. After about 18 months of having 360 the games got old and there wasn't really much I could do with the console even LIVE was getting boring. I HATE Halo! It's extremely frustrating. Everybody steals everybody's kills even after you have spent 32+ rounds knocking down shields. Another reason I HATE Halo is that its almost exclusively played by 13 year olds with no sense of teamwork. Teamwork has always been good on Call of Duty 4/ WaW regardless of age.

After looking all over Youtube and Playstation.com I became pretty interested in the Playstation 3. Spent about 40 hours researching and decided after a couple weeks of sh*tty pay at Subway to check the PS3 out at Gamestop. I asked a good deal of questions even the ones I knew the answers to just to make sure. I liked hearing that the system was built to last. (only about 5% death rate) Also found out that the PS3 is more efficient. It takes up less power, makes a lot less noise, and doesn't overheat easily. Plus everything was internal. No weird looking power boxes with tangling wires behind your console.

The only thing that I didn't like hearing was the amount of space some games on the PS3 take up. The associate at Gamestop told me MGS4 would take up 8 GB...8 GB!!! I was then kind of skeptical about buying one and looked around at the games for it.

In the beginning there was absolutely no games for PS3, at least not a reason to buy a PS3 when you have a 360. But after looking around I was interested. They had all the good games 360 has (besides exclusives..which suck anyways on 360. Gears of War 1 and 2 were the exact same) and a few that looked like decent rentals. After that I decided to try out the demo console.

I realize the console was hooked up to an HDTV but I was impressed with the graphics on the games regardless. They were definitely better than the 360's (which was also on an HDTV) and the games looked more fun...less boring...less Xbox. Then I began looking at the system main menu (before you put in a game) and really liked it. It was designed like a computer, not a video game console. I was like "Yes!.. this will definitely take over in a years time" and went to the register and purchased 160 GB Playstion 3 "Uncharted" Bundle for $499.99 plus tax.

The price was steep but with everything the PS3 has to offer, the best deal for Blu-Ray, a great system menu with plenty of customizable features, and a variety of different genre games, it's well worth it! I have sold my 360 (under the table for more $$$) and don't regret it at all. The PS3 will take over the "Console War"...its only a matter of time.

The choice you could make depends on criteria... For example How old are you! You live with your parents or alone! You care only about games or you want something multifunctional...

For example I am 31, I don't live of course with my parents, I have my own familly and at the first site I wanted a blue ray player but the differences between a blue ray player and the PS3 on price was about 50 euro so I definetelly choose PS3. There was no option for me to buy anything else then PS3....

If I was 15 I wouldn't care about blue ray because I wouldn't have a 1080p TV set, I could probably choose with another point of view...

Even though some games you can play them on the computer. Isn't it??

It's also pretty good for using as a photo album, especially with the new photo presenter program it just got updated with, it sure as hell impresses my mom. 3.gif

The thing with the PS3 is that it's just so much more than just a game console. It has got a internet browser, you can watch videos on the net, you can watch movies by inserting them with memory chips, you can watch blu ray movies, you can show entire photoalbums for family, friends and relatives, which is pretty handy if it is in the living-room, and of course, it is a game console.

And get this, in the long run it is actually CHEAPER than the Xbox, you need to buy less things to make it work online, and there's no fee for the Playstation Network.  (PSN)

Xbox may be cheap in the start, but you have to buy and subscribe to stuff just to get it online.

The fact that you have to buy an network adaptor is just ridicolous.

PS3 may have a steep price in the start, but once you have it, you have it. No fees, no nothing. All You might sometimes have to buy is the HDMI cord, though.
