Since I think there are several Pinoy Batters out there or some people who love batting/building Filipino Architecture. Here is a thread where we can showcase our Bats.

That Batisan building looks good! A bit of texture tweaking, but good! And it would be appreciated if you were to be kind enough to upload them to the STEX.

I really like that roof of Batasan, but have little problem with the scale of it... How big is it supposed to be? It looks like not too big building blown couple of 100s %. Judging from the photo I'd say it is (up to, but not counting) roof is about 10m tall, given accommodation to the game anti squashing approach it could be some 13-max 15m. But in game it looks more like 30. Also the thickness of the walls... well I'm not sure if it suppose to be that way but it also adds to the impression that there is something very wrong with scale.

its a hall for congress so i guess the size is just about right, could use a little proportioning though as the top of the parapet should be a little lower? say the height should be 1/5 of the width?

one thing thats a little off though would be the parapet and the two center columns, tehy should be flush (the 2 columns should not protrude) instead the center part of the parapet (between the two columsn should be offset to the inside) 9.gif

oh, and could someone please teach me how to make bats? and the software i need to make them? im kinda ok with CAD (plans) but i havent tried 3dsmax 15.gif

wayway- You can make your buildings in CAD, export as a 3ds., then import them into Gmax or 3ds max. Then you can do a simcity export. You will need BAT installed for gmax, and BAT4max installed if you are using 3ds. To find out how to use gmax and or 3ds max, try the "BAT essentials" tutorials in the omnibus.

ill try to read through them

so the CAD file should be 3d right? arrrgh, ive little patience in that but ill try 9.gif

what about the scale? coz say i make a mall thats 200m wide by 180m deep, should i make it as such on Autocad? how would that fit into simcity or as a bat?

wayway-Simcity tends to make buildings squished, i forget the exact number, but usually people make the height about 30 percent larger i think.

Well-currently, it isn't.  I have to fix a few bugs in my A320 model before releasing any A320s to the public.5.gif

Simfox: I made the roofing a little taller than the roofing of the real one but definitely the size is not really an out-of-this-world size (lol). The walls is I intentionally made some of them a little thicker. I'm not really making an exact replica of it.. I kinda base the bat on it and with a little touch of my style.. hehe  9.gif

Waway: ok no problem.. You should download Building Architect Tool, Gmax and Max2Bat(or Bat2Max.. well anyway, if you intend to use 3ds max)

Dusktrooper: whow! my BAT Idol.. *I'm not worthy!*

Wow, my piece headlined this thread. I'm honored9.gif! Thanks gt...

I'm also happy to see that there are others interested in this subject. I took up batting mainly to supply my own cities with pieces I wanted. I'm thrilled there is a demand for this type of work.

I'm mainly focusing on two types of projects:

    1) Iconic filipino commercial/residential structures like Jollibee and SM, and civic landmarks

    2) More generic structures that "feel" filipino. If anything is missing on the STEX  it is more gritty urban (and rural for that matter) buildings like you find in Southeast Asia. Basically I would like to create more scenes like below:

    flipcommercebldg3.jpg

Anyway, here are some of the projects I'm working on or want to work on:

    SM Mall (in development)

    Sari Sari stores (in development)

    Quiapo and San Augustin churches

    NAIA airport

palengke (open produce, meat, and fish market)

Manila City Hall and the Post Office

A set of Spanish Colonial homes

A set of commercial buildings like above

    videoke bar

    Manila Hotel

More malls, like Glorietta and Mall of Asia (the most requested btw)

More filipino restos like Chowking, Max's, Shakey's, and a larger Jollibee

    A baywalk lot

A set of historic spanish-era buildings like those found in Vigan and Intramuros

    Chinese Cemetery

    LRT/MRT stations

    Hotel Sogo2.gif

    and of couse Jeepneys!

This list is not complete and very ambitious, but I've got to do something in my spare time. If anyone has specific suggestions or favorites from above, I'm happy to try to do it, just try and include a good pic or two. One thing tho, I'm less keen on doing skyscrapes because I feel there are tons of really great ones already on STEX. I have my own thread on this forum and will post updates there and save this thread for final pics.

Wow this is getting long, anyway I'm happy there are others out there who appreciate the architecture of the Philippines and willing to spend the many many (did I say many?) hours batting them.

@jpops, thats exactly what i need 9.gif buildings that capture the gritty urban life in most philippine cities 9.gif buildings youll find in the streets of sampaloc and quiapo and avenida 9.gif

if only i had a clue how to make bats 15.gif so sad, im an architect and id like to do bats but my spare time isnt that much 15.gif and the only program i use is autocad (so i guess its no use for batting? i dont do 3d kasi as i only do working drawings on autocad tapos i photoshop them lang for the presentation)

Waway: hmm.. Maybe I could give an e-book about 3ds max 7. Anyway, Gmax is *I think* a poor man(or simplified) version of 3ds Max. I'll try to find a site where I can upload it. 9.gif

Here is some update.. I'm off to my second BAT project.. Here is a little update (Well, it is actually a late update since a lot has changed since I uploaded this pic)

Here is the link of the real building: LINKie

With thinks like thickness of the walls making replica or not isn’t really an issue. Things like that strongly affect perception of size and scale. With walls that think and without other strong visual clues this building looks like a tinny one blown to gargantuan scale! I believe that wasn’t your creative intention! Anyway what’s done is done! But I just hope you’ll take these things in account with you new works!44.gif
    Take care and be creative!

pilotdaryl: yes I would like to do NAIA, but that's going to be a while down the road (unless of course someone else does it in the meantime) It takes me 2-3 weeks to complete a project so my wish list is just that.

gt: cool building to bat! Do watch the scale tho. It may just be the preview render, but I'd suggest that the real building when translated to SC4 is a 2X2 lot. So i'd probably use the following scale:

24m long, 20-24m wide (Depending how sqaure you want it) and 3.5-4m tall per story. Just a suggestion. Looking good in any case.

jpops: *Ding!* *Ding! *Ding!* You know what? You hit the jackpot! It is almost the same size and stats as what you just said(well, posted)! and yes it will be on a 2x2 lot too! You have some telepathic powers or something like that. Professor X? Is that you? lol. 9.gif
