Look's like I am back to playing my favorite computer game.

After losing all my previous cities, and plug-ins to a computer crash a year or so ago I finally decided to load things back up again and start playing. This CJ will be similar to my Glen Harbor CJ with plenty of custom lotting including rail lines, ports, industrial areas, etc. This will be a no frills CJ as I don't really have time for fancy graphics, newspapers, etc.. Extensive lot work requires experimentation and detailing so there is not much time left for me add graphics and story lines.

I am using a much smaller region this time with plenty of water and some mountains.

The map is Fuscienne by tijn21.

Fuscienne_thumb.jpg

As usual I first started by creating a small industrial sector and port. I also plopped a couple of commercial buildings to create some jobs. Nothing special yet as I will be customizing plenty of port lots for the coastal areas, customizing rail lines and sinking some highways. I also plopped a cash park to give me money for sloping rail approaches, bridges and roads with the game's mayor tools.

Right now the coasts in the city of Acropolis are a bit smoothed over and I will be forming them better as I go along. I'll post some region views after I download the region census.

Right now I am experimenting a bit with the El rail to make it look like ground rail rapid transit in certain areas.

Here are a few construction and terra-forming shots to get things rolling along.

01-02: ~ Construction of  The Acropolis Rapid Transit (ART), Eastneck line and a sunken freight line above

acr02yc8.jpg

At first I was using Deadwoods under rail shops BAT to sink the rails but after transit enabling files trains would stop at each lot creating a log jam . I then decided to have the lot foundations surround the rails to make the line look like a ground level rail. Here are some shots of how things are shaping up.

01-03: ~ I doubled up the height of the fences so you can't see under the rails anymore.

Here are some pics of areas that are nearly finished.

To be continued ~ imageshack servers seem to be backed up at the moment.

Good start so far.

Looks like you're using a nice selection of custom content, some I don't think I've seen before. Where did you get the apartment with bay windows in the last picture in the lower left corner? It caught my attention.

Looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone!

Image Shack is still down so I loaded them up at photobucket. Here are the rest of the pics.

01-08: The Maxis Seaport will be replaced eventually.

    Acr09.jpg

01-09: This is what the El line looks like with a higher fence. It looks more like ground rail now I think. What do you think looked better ~ higher fence or lower fence?

    Acr10.jpg

That's it for now. I am going to try and finish up the Eastneck line later this evening. I'll respond to all your posts then.

Thanks for the input and suggestions so far!

Time for a small update but first I'll respond to all your posts.

GMT ~ Thank you! Its an honor to have you as the first response.

homeandaway  ~ Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you again.

gshmails ~ I am getting good use of you underground parking garages. Thanks for such a nice contribution to the game.

    waldner ~ Thank you!

archesrule29 ~ Thanks and I hope you enjoy following along.

jrhnemo ~ Thanks. Its good to be back!

patriots_1228 ~ Thank you. I think I might have downloaded one of your "crappy" BATs. I am not sure though. Maybe you'll see one pop up.

Hanson784 ~ I think the building you are asking about is the SHUR Worthington Arms by jbsimio.

    Worthington_Day.jpg

penguin007 ~ Thanks. I have been spending the last few days just downloading stuff. This time I am holding off on the super-tall skyscrapers and trying to find as many mid-risers as I can.

Sim_Air  ~ Thank you. I hope you enjoy what is to follow.

bigcityNY ~ Thanks. The fences are Maxis props for the solar power plant. I am just adding them to the lots that are next to the tracks. The roads next to the tracks are transit enabled lots I'll post some pics on how I did it later on.

John94538 ~ Glad you like it!

jacqulina ~ Thanks. What a fitting title you now have. Its nice to see you still hanging around!

FissleBread ~ Thanks for the suggestion. I am using a midnight moon MOD that makes the water glow at night but might try something different.

    GreekMan ~ Thank you!

Sim_Air ~ Thanks. I think its the beautiful bat - Seoul Apartment by kimdomyung   that makes it

    look great.

    dralin321 ~ Thank you!

arkray7 ~ The lots are regular lots. I just set the threshold to zero and chose a desired foundation in the lot editor.

Xperian ~ Thanks for your input. I think they look better as well but was not sure.

OK now for the brief update. The Eastneck line is coming along nicely. Here are some shots of finished areas.

i dont kow much tbh but rather than goto the trouble of making the lowered areas etc why not just use glr, and to go to el you have the normal ramp for it and also onslope to el rail, for example off of an embankment onto the normal el. just a thought.
