I hate to say it, especially since we've done pretty good without it, but it might be time to hold real elections for the delegate spot (and maybe one or two vice-delgates) and consolidate power within those nations. At the moment, Audland is barely holding on to the seat, with several nations only one endorsement behind. It has made it difficult for anyone to hold the Delegate position for long in the region, what with everyone endorsing everyone else. I admit, I'm guilty of doing the very same. Just a thought.

simzebu: I noticed that, on the map, my nation is still represented by the old flag. I changed it to the current one several months ago. It's not that big of a deal. I just thought I'd mention it.

El Burro: Speaking of flags, that's a pretty bad-ass flag you've got there!

page flip? Yup.

I don't know if delegate elections would really help. Whoever won would still only have 6 or 7 endorsements. And elections can be hard to organize, especially if nations start going inactive, which happens every once in a while.

Another idea would be to re-found the region with an independent nation, similar to what they have in the International Democratic Union. I can post over at their off-site forum, and ask how they handle theirs, if we want to know.

This would allow us to have a founding nation and not have to worry about it dying. If we had this, we wouldn't need to worry about a password.

If we chose to refound, we may want to sketch up a quick constitution or mission statement, as a formal way of deciding on issues like, do we let the friends of ST members into the region? (example, newcomer SITRP never claimed to be a member of ST, just a friend of Greater Garland/The Big Z) Do we allow members of SC4Devotion in if they aren't ST members?

I think I remember from when we discussed this a while ago, the answer to those question was no. So I think it might help to have that in writing.

Anyway, that's my ten cents.

EDIT:

Here's the new, expanded region map, with some more spots.

Feel free to request a spot.

I suppose you're right about the election issue. That's probably why we never really needed it before. It only would really be effective if we had a whole lot of people in the region, like over 100 or something.

I think, however, it might be wise to set some of these issues in stone anyways, even if we don't start a new region. Establishing set criteria, approved by a majority vote (we have enough to at least do this), for admittance into the region might help us protect the region from the threat of invasion.

I'm pretty sure he was pointing the finger at you to direct any possible suspicion away from himself.

Here's a couple rules I've come up with that I believe should be included in our constitution:

PUBLIC DISSENT

Any nation that attempts to create public dissent within the region, regardless of reason or intent, shall face permanent banishment from the region.

ADMISSIONS

In order to gain admission into the Simtropolis region, a prospective member must have been a member of Simtropolis forum for a minimum of three months. Admission is also availiable to members of the SC4Devotion forumprovided they meet the same three month minimum period of enrollment on their forum in addition to joining the Simtropolis forum if they have yet to do so.

If anyone has any objections with any part of these rules, or can think of additional rules to be added, please feel free to post them.

I think that sounds great. I'm all for ratifying this into the constitution.

I agree that this should be the Constitution of the Simtropolis Region, I have no objections and I like the three month minimum rule. There is one last rule we could implement in the constitution, because of the concerns over UN Delegate elections.

Elections

Members nations of the Simtropolis Region who are also members of the United Nations must decide which nation should become UN Delegate, Endorsements should be added or withdrawn depending on the Delegate's performance and whether a challenging nation for the delegateship is capable of the responsibility. There is also a 40 day limit of Delegateship, if a nation's Delegateship lasts this long, an election will need to be called within four days.

40 days seems like a pretty short time to be delegate. I think three or four months might work a little better.

I limited the delegateship to 40 days to give other nations a chance to become delegate rather then waiting a long time for an election, but the limit can be changed to three or four months (or any length) if the region wants to.

Thanks, I'll stake a claim to the gray area centered at M-7. (I assume I get the whole thing, right?)

As long as no one has a claim on it (and I don't think anyone does) it's all yours.

Hey .. I notice that N-16 is no longer taken up .. I'd like to request it for my old Nation Foxenburg that has returned to Simtropolis Region from the dead. 18.gif

It's a large area but with a population of almost 6billion, it would need a lot of land. I might even be tempted to redo the coastline like i did for Western Mithguard.

Okay guys, I started a couple new nations recently (the Texian Empire over in the IDU, and Texian Simtropolis here in our region), and they both have claims in the region. Texian Simtropolis claims the pink area south of Vartorgan (as a subnational entity within the Empire), and the Texian claims direct control over the enclave at the mouth of the Rio Seguin in Metropolitan Houston (a name for it will be coming shortly).
