I also hate everything I've seen and heard up 'till now. This game has been gutted of all things that made SimCity, SimCity. Shame on EA, this is an abomination!  This game smacks of Roller Coaster Tycoon.

I think (or maybe it's just hope) this game is going to be like what Legends and NT were to the Megaman series. A quick skip off into another direction, then back to the original plot.

Those "candyland" and 50s-style "futurism" gimmicks might get dropped after the people behind this game realize how STUPID those ideas are.

The only real problem I have here is the cartoony graphics and lack of zoning and power. (I won't really miss the water system. I was never really that overjoyed about having to lay miles of pipes)

That (The cartooniness) was what made SimTown blow. (Along with mind-murdering simplicity and repetition.)

This is my answer about all themes of SCS ( may be SC5 - ???).

This is really new poor game about cartoon with Mighty Mouse and someone ....

SC4 and SCS - this different as heaven and earth ...

We must real understand SCS command - their product for 6 - 16 young worth ...

This is a way for Gloria and BUCKS ... Real = Construction or Sweat Life ...

I'll never buy this game SCS - this game millions from 6 to 16 years old ...

Excuse me - not for me .....

Um...

I really like the idea of having a "feel" to your city.  It'll be interesting, if they manage to do it right.

Except with RCT3, at least you were still focused on building your dream amusement park. Granted, it was plagued with problems initially, especially performance and some hair-tearing bugs, limiting you to a dozen or so rides at best ... most of which were fixed, though still the game takes serious hardware, which is understandable considering its complexity. And the variety of rides and scenery was abysmal at first, compared with its predecessors. But the focus of the game did not change. I bought RCT3. And I still enjoy it from time to time. If they put out another expansion pack (unlikely, it's been what, almost 2 years since the last one?) I'd buy it. And if they make an RCT4, I'm reasonably confident I'd buy it, provided they don't change the fundamental reason for the game's existence.

With SCS, that's exactly what EA appears to be doing. I wouldn't go so far as to call SCS an abomination unto itself though. It does look entertaining - on its own. But if EA keeps saying it is a true sequel to SimCity - then that is the abomination, to me, and they can forget about my $$$. 28.gif

Just as jarnomiedema says in his reply, Simcity was something that was hard getting into, I know it took me a while before I understood how to make money fast, and start evolving the city into a great metropolis. I recall not getting why the freaking community in Simcity 3 kept saying they had no shopping centers lol, always zoned few plots of commercial beside eachother. And never quite understood how the airport worked... and what it was affected by...

What I always wanted to do with Simcity 3 and 4, was to create cities from different countries, which their societies actually will allow. I just hope it just isnt the resident area that is affected by the societies, I hope you can see for all buildings where in the world you are.

I've actually got a list.

It's in 3D... to me it's a plus, but I can see why some want the 2.5D.

Some buildings look pretty good. I can't say that for them all, though.

There are some small things like the Amish horse and buggy, cobblestone streets, and realistic street lights.

I do like the idea of plopping buildings, but zoning should remain an option.

Besides that, I've got little to actually like.

maybe they'll bring back the llama dome, or archologies, or something equally quirky yet useful...

the good? its sim city's kid brother. the multiple views are refreshing, top down/street level views have always been well, not there [well it was in the first one 4.gif, top down that is]. and maybe the "cartoony 3-d" will mean its playable out of the box on an average computer this time! that's a plus right there..

(addtl) Btw, I also like the fact that the camera can zoom down to street level. -Almost forgot that.

Don't get me wrong; as an SC fan like the rest of you, I generally don't like SCS the way it currently is either. Though we must admit, if there are negative sides to this game, then there must also be positive sides. 4.gif

Sorry, Tiled Tree, or whatever it is, but I HATE IT, just had to say it. By the way, is Will Wright so busy that he cant work on Simcity 5?

He got celebrity status in the video game world with the Sims. Sim City is a whim at this point.

I don't have much of an opinion yet since the game is so early in it's development. I'll wait and see what happens.
