I know that after seeing the first images of the game, people are horrified, but what would make everyone want to buy it more, out of all the things that you saw in the screenshot?

[Edited in reference to an archived post] Marc

What would change my mind is if it would suddenly look like this:

SimCity how it should be

That would be awesome. And if it would become a city simulator.

Otherwise it's not done.

Nothing would "change" my mind, because I haven't made up my mind yet. I've seen nothing that has made me not want to at least consider buying the game. The only discouraging thing I've seen is what one of the Tilted Mill's people said in a thread at the Tilted Mill's forums - that it isn't a realistic simulator, but I don't know what he considers a "realistic" simulator. So, until I know, I see no reason not to consider the game for what I know of it: almost nothing. A lot of the negativity is hype. All we have is a picture that some don't seem to like (I think it was OK, especially for a beta) and a comment by a TM employee.

No, Vice City is cartoony too. i don't know what it is from. It looks very nice though 4.gif Maybe it's a photoshopped photo, but it looks too unrealistic for that.

Could be Maxis work, anyway 3.gif

I honestly don't have enough info to be very judgmental about the game because nobody including me has any idea what it really is about. my only put down is that TM said it's not going to be much like SC4, not a real urban simulator.

After seeing the new graphics i hope it goes back to the sc4 graphics, or gets more realistic. right now it looks about as craptastic as michael jacksons nose. so yea its pretty messed up lol.

what might change my mind about scs is if they include LARGE INDUSTRIES! thats what sc4 lacked. dont lack large industries like ford factories! it will be even less of a "sim city".

LOL David, that made my day.

What would changed my mind? Open-source SC4. Then I wouldn't be mad at EA.

Regarding Rubix's pic, I think some screenshots from TM with nice skyscrapers would go a long ways toward making me happier. Also, some screenies showing the potential UI and short demo movies would be helpful. We have such things for Spore already and the release date for that is much farther out.

If the modability of the new game allowed custom content authers the freedom to make mods that would be more in line with what SC4 players would have wanted from SC5 like more realism and a better economy etc.

The only thing that keeps me playing SC4 is the mods and custom content, without it SC4 would have been thrown out years ago.

if maxis comes back and does it themselves, and it looks better than SC4 and is more intricate.

Well, here's one thing I don't get:

A lot of people don't like the game because it's not a city simulator. My question is, if it isn't a city simulator, then what is it? People keep saying it's like CityLife, but even CityLife is a city simulator. I just don't understand, really...

Once again folks - there is no more Maxis. They aren't "coming back" to do the next edition of the game because they were bought and absorbed by EA. If we're going to engage in all this tortured speculation, let's at least limit ourselves to the realm of reality.

Being outraged that Maxis isn't doing this version and hoping they'll come back is like getting mad that Santa Claus doesn't deliver your presents at Christmas anymore...

Got it, Pixelrage - sorry, there's just been so much of this "I want Maxis back" talk over the past two days...

Amen. Rubix, that is what I wanted from Sim City 5, the NEXT Sim City - better graphics, more realistic simulation, more options, etc. But build upon SC4...well really most Simtropolisians are at SC4.6 or so, but that is why 5 should have been a nice leap...Unfortunately this is not SC5, this is SCS - Societies...
