I cant find any pictures online, but the manhole covers in Duluth, MN have a map of the downtown area as their grate. They are also famous for steaming in the winter.

Why would I take pictures of manhole covers? Why would anyone look at pictures of manhole covers?

This thread is confusing...

Have you always had this strange manhole obsession ShadeSlayer? Or did you recently discover it? It's okay, you can tell us, we won't judge.

only special ones worth mentioning from my town is the 150 year anniversary of my town, manhole cover editions, but otherwise that's it. who cares about manhole covers anyway unless they're some special kind of gold or silver, or something???

Well, you see these all over New York. This one's right by the front gate to Manhattan College. It was winter, and that white stuff's road salt, which the physical plant always throws down in excess around here.

And apparently they're made in India....

If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

Yeah...my pic of the Portland manhole shows an older one...most new ones now say made in India. Apparently the shipping costs aren't that prohibitive...those covers are freakin heavy.
