Actually, it's believe that the next Star Trek will be after (in Star Trek time) the events of Star Trek: Enterprise and before the events of the original Star Trek series. It may be the Earth-Romulan War.

Well, they plan to start a new trilogy for Terminator, according to this article. They're still working on the script but I don't know if it's coming out on 2007 or 2008, or if it is even coming out at all. I sure hope it does.

Ah! You're totally right. I read that on MetaCafe. They're also creating Men in Black III.

I tend to find that sequals aren't always as good as the originals but i think some of these will be good

Hollywood has lost its ability to be creative. All it can do is recycle old plots, or resurrect films that were perfect the first time. I see the same thing happening in music... my lord, someone actually remade a Cure song!

Are you on anti-depressants? Transformers one of the best Spielberg-involved films?

You probably haven't seen a lot of his films. Off the top of my head, I can name Jaws, Close Encounters, 1941, Indiana Jones (all three), E.T., Schindler's List, Jurassic Park, Saving Private Ryan, etc. as his best films.

And the best he's done this decade are A.I. (underrated IMO), Minority Report, The Terminal, and Munich. War of the Worlds, maybe.

    But Transformers=14.gif

Hmm... a few originals, a lot of sequels, plenty of remakes, and some movies based on TV shows of past and present... Hollywood has completely lost it.

Although Steve Correl as Maxwell Smart was some good casting.

Why on earth are they making a Smurfs movie? I hope it isn't live action.

If you can believe it, they're planning on a second and possible third live-action sequel for Transformers.

There are definitely too many sequels and franchises, though I can't deny that I'm looking forwards to The Dark Knight, Star Trek, Bond 22 and Indy 4. Most of the others, though? Couldn't care less.

Of course. They have to make money and sell toys.

But the films I'm looking forward to next year (but I'm not sure how it can top 2007--great year, box office wise):

-Speed Racer 43.gif (I hate anime, but I grew up watching reruns on CN).

    -Sin City 2

    -The Dark Knight (duh)

    -Indy Jones 4

-That wizard kid with the thing on his head

-and Jurassic Park 4 (God, I hope they don't butcher it).

From that list, you can probably figure out my movie preferences and tastes.

I have just read through the list again and not a single film calls out to me. American cinema sucks atm. I would rather watch a British or Bollywood film.

Hmm... not very promising, if you'd ask me... i didn't knew there was already a SAW 4 , and scary movie has lost it's humor since the second part ,i can only hope that it won't be as bland and boring as the other ones...

I am sincerley worried that wasn't sarcasm. How can you call War of the Worlds a good film. It was crap. They took and amazing book, set in the British town of Guildford, moved it to the US added some short-ass actor and spent millions on it. How can you compare that to such marvels as Schindler's List, Indiana Jones or Saving Private Ryan. All amazingly deep films, well two of them.

On a different note a channel here called Film4 is having a season of "New Hollywood" films from the early 00s and late 90s which was argubly a golden period in American cinema but looking at this years releases it has been going downhill. They all have a number on the end. I mean come on! I would love another classy film like Feris Bullers Day Off, The Breakfast Club or another really uplifting high school film because all the recent films about high school have been chick-flicks. Yawn. Im also looking forward to a British film based on the His Dark Materials triology.

Having watched the preview for it several times, I am hugely anticipating Cloverfield (or 1-18-08). Both these are code names, the real name of the film hasn't been released yet, but if you went to see Transformers you apparently saw a preview for it.

War of the Worlds is one of my favourite sci-fi films, the action was incredible and I found the characters very realistic (especcially the girl who kept screaming...), and in my opinion it will be remembered for a long time. I don't see how you don't like it. Oh, so it wasn't set in the UK, oh, so the actor was short. These are trivial things, and they are grossly outweighed by the quality of the film.

Looking forward to a new bond film, too!
