Well, I'm Canadian, and I am used to the cold (Its -15 out there right now!).  Been to Florida a couple times, its hot there during the summertime, okay during the winter (Ive been to Orlando, Tampa and Miami).

EDIT: By the way, what does this have to with Global Warming?  Florida isn't at the earth's equator so its not even close to being the hottest place on earth.

It depends on what you personally consider hot. Average Summer Temp where I live in Scotland is about 15C where as the Average Summer Florida temp is about 30C... now, I get cranky enough being at 15C in summer so 30C would probably make me kill people... the Highest recorded Scottish Temperature is 33C... just 3 above Florida's average. To me, thats pretty warm... to the people who live there and suffer, they'll probably be used to it by now.

Acctually, for some weird reason the Tropics tend to be hotter than the equator. The Hottest place on Earth (Average) is in Ethiopia.

Um mm of course its hot...its Florida....its close to the equator...but what makes it hot, like easy mentioned, is the humidity

This time of year, it isn't too bad, but it can still get very humid...and what does this have to do with global warming? I really don't understand what ou are trying to ask.

Oh, and FYI, the correct term is Climate Change, not Global Warming.

Its never gotten this cold during winter that I can remember at least in central/bottom of florida, plus last year it was alot warmer than this, hey JanYpe, the british meterology team said that 2007 would be one of the hottest years ever, it would be warm in florida right now if that statement was false.

THANK YOU ALL OF YOU, You just proved to me that you all know Florida is hot well guess what Florida is only mid seventy's in south florida and up here in the middle of the state where I am currently, I have to wear a huge jacket outside now in the mid thrity's to late 60's in middle florida I don't believe this global warming theory considering florida is now getting cold and look how far it is from the north pole i just don't get it.

I've been to Florida in February and while it wasn't scorching hot, it certainly was summery- we were on the beach. Contrast that to when we went to Colorado in July and were putting on our coats. 12,000 feet of elevation will do that.

If you want crazy weather, New York seems a pretty good place for it. I've seen it drop blow 0 in the winter and break 100 in August (That's -18 to 38 Celsius for you metric folks). I've also seen Christmas be 20 degrees warmer than Easter, and the temperature swing over 40 degrees within a week. A few weeks ago it was 19 (-7 C) with a wind chill of 0 (-18 C) on Thursday and 64 (18 C) the following Tuesday. Nuts.

That's snow (and it wasn't dumped by humans either); usually we were lucky if we could get 20 cm to take out skiing a couple of times during winter. Last season however, they had to close the main roads, there was a couple of days with lack of supplies, trains stood still, power outages all over the region. I know it's nothing like the midwestern snow storms, but as we live by the coast that's something you never experiences here.

But the airport kept running all day long during the snowfall...

As long as I can play golf in December global warming is no problem (I used to live about "as" far north as Juneau, Alaska). And global warming is not about wether it's cold in a place that used to be warm or not, it's about an overall temperature rise. Two years ago, the grass was green and we played golf as late as in December (they had to close the course because it was too wet); in January the first plants started to wake to life again. And so it went on to the "real" spring started in mid-March.

Last season however (2006-2007), while it was warm in December, rarely dropping below 5 C/41 F, the winter started mid-January with this:

Snowy world

As I said, at that time last season, spring has started.

On the flip side, it was hitting almost 5C up here in Edmonton earlier in the week, where the average temperature for this time of year is -15C. 2.gif

I've always considered Florida middle of the road with regards to temperature...slightly to the high side.

I think the more important issue in considering Florida's climate is the humidity (but maybe that's just the Colorado in me)

Lol, it's always funny when people ***** about how unpredictable their weather can be.

New York has nothing...you yourself noted that Colorado can hit freezing in July.  Just since last night we've seen a 40 F temp swing.  We're already 25 F above yesterday's HIGH temp.

...and this is what you EXPECT in Colorado.

Probably the best example I can think of is the March '04 Blizzard (maybe it was 2003)...  Anyway, it was ~ 70 F one day, dumped 3 feet of snow the next, and was sunny and 60 F the following day.

Send him home.  Just send him home.  Its time for you to go home there ball...

(Putts.  He misses the hole by like an inch)

Son of a (female dog) ball.  Why didn't you just go home?  Thats YOUR HOME! ARE YOU TOO GOOD FOR YOUR HOME??? ANSWER MEEEE!!!

Do we really want to be like this?  Our natural environment, as stated above, is the hole (earth).  If we don't get this global warming thing right, missing it even by an inch (like the ball did), we will have an external force (Happy Gilmore) messing around with our lives.

    Best,

Havent been in florida since 1997, but im sure its warm now but hot in the summer. having lived in SC in 2001 it was horrible in the summer near the marsh. In a similar area in florida I would imagine it to be only a little bit worse. Id take sweat over freezing my butt off anyday.

Some people doesn't believe in Global Warming and other people doesn't know about it. Carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, sulfur hexafluoride,CFC, hydrofluorocarbon, perfluorocarbon, and water vapors are greenhouse gases and greenhouse gases are causing the Global Warming. Water vapors are the most powerful natural greenhouse gas, but they also reflect heat.  Water vapors are like heat reflecting gas. CO2 isn't the only one that causes Global Warming.

Surely then the heat would be reflected away from the Earth, making it cooler... whereas CO2 traps heat, making it warmer. Water vapour is like Tin Foil, CO2 is like a Duvet.

Methane is 25 times more effective at warming the Earth than CO2. Methane is to the Earth what Carbon Monoxide is to your blood.
