Heh... you better not come to New Zealand then...  green is the only colour we do (well maybe a bit of blue around the coast!

Yay!  I got two lines in the Beebsy's replies...  I am so special.  16.gif

Nice suburban area there! My only suggestion is to address the jagged edges of the road where it meets the grass. Maybe use some diagonal filler pieces or something.

Looks great!

Oooo! I like this update alot better.  It is great.  The mosaic is beautiful with the little suburbian houses and spell checker's telling me that's not a word... and the greenness and the trees.  It looks very peaceful!  Good job beebeth.4.gif

A+ suburbs as usual Beebsy. As I've said before, you're a master at it. 19.gif (love the mosaic as well) And as odd as it sounds I agree with Godzillaman. Surely there is a Skid Row somewhere in one of the cities? 3.gif

Chris.

Huge thanks to porter66062 for winterizing the banners! Thanks a bunch! 9.gif

Update time! Lets take a quick peek at Capilano Valley.. I've got a bit more rebuilding done, with a new commercial area to show off!

    oakcenter2.jpg

Ah yes.. Oak Center. Lovingly named for the once majestic oak trees that lined the avenue, the trees were all killed by disease and have been cut down over the past few months. Replanting is starting to occur as well.

    oakcenter1.jpg

Further down in Oak Center, you can see a few trees already replanted. The city throwing their cash away to bring in mature trees, to bring back the classic look of the area.

    oakcenter3.jpg

The eastern edge of Oak Center. Residents still complain about traffic noise. Tough beans.

    oakcenter4.jpg

And an overview of the area.

That's all I've got, folks! Now for all of you whiners complaining about the lack of slums... er.. uh... ehm.. 22.gif

    Can I take a raincheck? 3.gif

Looking good!  Time to go shopping!  Oh wait... the trees died?  A tree epidemic?  how awful 15.gif  Mature trees instead of planting new ones...  I guess they were too impatient to wait for them to grow.  Now, back to shopping... Oh hey, I want a house there by the shopping center!  Forget about traffic noise lol.  That's what loud music playing is for.31.gif  Although, I don't suppose the neighbors would like that much either.  Oh..err... Do I see a DSW?!?

Looks like all the stores have gone with Capilano's traditional blue colour 3.gif

Yet another splendid update and good to see the smaller areas again. Not many CJs have the unique feeling like yours 9.gif

Pretty sad about those trees, but nice inclusion of them in-game. It's a little funny to see all those clubs in town too. At least they're quite a ways away from the residential area, though. 3.gif

I like how you cover the ground you aren't using in that pretty included grass, it makes it look so much greener and realistic.

I also love this update, the shopping malls are very realistic to even things I've seen in the Midwest.

Brilliant CJ, I am also happy I found it and I will be coming back.

Update time!! Moving further on in Capilano Valley, lets have a peak at downtown.

    downtown2.jpg

Downtown! Whoo! You can see the Milennium Square at the bottom (re-built and re-named in late 1999, obviously 2.gif ), previously known as Capilano Square. The name change was somewhat controversial among residents, many of whom prefer the old name to the new one. I'm sure you all know how people hate change. 3.gif

    downtown3.jpg

The DoubleTree Hotel near the top of the image was one of the first "high-rises" constructed in Capilano Valley.. back in 1987. The Valley, with its proximity to Banff, quickly became a popular destination during and after the Calgary '88 Winter Olympics, with many guests staying in Capilano Valley and driving down to Banff to watch the games.

    downtown4.jpg

Oh and you can see the ever attractive NAFMIS Center in this picture. Shockingly, these colors are in improvement over the previous coat of paint. 2.gif

    downtown5.jpg

And a peek down the side of the mountain, with the radio tower in view. No development is permitted up the slopes of the mountain, in order to preserve nature.. as such, growth in the Valley has been skirted along the riverbanks. Great for nature, but ever so frustrating for the millionares who want to buy a chunk of the scenic view from atop the hills and cliffs.

And er.. that's all for today, folks! I may have a small Christmas update tomorrow but after that who knows when I may be able to update again.. things get crazy for me at work from Boxing Day until about New Years. So until then.. so long!

    commentssnow.jpg

dfnva: Thanks! Glad you liked the development 4.gif

deathtopumpkins: Yes, the dearest oaks... 15.gif Thanks!

BlondeTwiggy: Hehe, there's a bit of downtown shopping for you too. 3.gif Now what the heck is a DSW? 3.gif

    sixers33: Hehe, thanks!

    un1: Thank you!

Pocksis: Laws of physics go bonkers when time is stopped.. 3.gif Thanks!

ky72x: Clubs? What clubs? I have no idea what you're talking about. Those are daycares! 3.gif

    simcity4fan12: Thank you!

Ace_F15: Hehe, thanks! Glad you're enjoying the CJ 4.gif

    TV-VCR: Thanks!

    abcvs: 19.gif

    pilotdaryl: No discounts sorry. 3.gif

suplado!: Thank you, glad you liked the update 4.gif

Petrovar Ambassador: Thank you, much appreciated!

Theirishnintendonerd: Actually, it was built a number of years ago in Capilano Valley time. Remember, this is a reboot of Capilano Valley so technically, none of the stuff I'm showing you is "new". 3.gif

Hummm...DSW is Designer Shoe Warehouse...I don't know if they are in Canada!  I got a great deal on a pair of shoes there!  19.gif  Of course, I hardly ever wear them, but...*coughmovingon...* Millenium square eh?  I think 'Capilano Square' is more original... NAFMIS?  What was its original color, pink?  Improvement, heh...Seriously, though, there are some colors that buildings should be be painted, pink included...Unless it's a Pepto-Bismol store.  At any rate, nature is being conserved, that is always good!  All those parking lots don't make oxygen ya know... Too bad for the millionaires though.  I'm sure the view is great!
