Several Months ago I started a project to add some new football options to SC4 that's finally getting ready for release, so to catch everybody up, here's the basics:

fbpack1rm1.jpg
fbpack2bb7.jpg

The first release planned will be a series of rec football lots(outlined in red) similair to the Maxis soccer field, which is shown for comparison.  I’ve decided to release two sizes of fields, one similair in size to the Maxis soccerfield (5x3 tiles), and one that is set to real world size(6x4 tiles), so that players can pick what suites their playing style better.

For each field I’ve also created a lot with stands and one without stands again for versatility.
standsnostandsvy1.jpg

Through the miracle of timed props, the stands will fill up at game time(in this case from 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM.) Not picking on anyone in particular(so please no one get offended), but a lot of fields on the STEX have LOD’s covering the field itself which prevents props being placed on the field. Therefore I have created the fields and stands as separate props.

Given Maxis didn’t make any American football fields, there are no animated football props. To get around this I’ve just used the soccer ones instead(for these lots, the kids soccer props and effects), which actually doesn’t come out half bad. I’ve also created a mod(I don’t even like calling it that it’s so simple) that will remove the soccer ball, but of course it will remove it from actual soccer fields as well, so it would be optional.

Next post I'll have more on Albriet Stadium, my first major project:

Wow, these look pretty good. Nice textures and models, but the field numbers are awfully big.

Just a quick update, first replies

    Jacqulina: thanks for the comment

Scba:  thanks for mentioning that, I think you're right.  I'll bring them down to size a little bit.

I'm working on some more worn textures to release as well, as apperently not every football program has the money and resources to keep their fields looking spotless

And the clean texture with new smaller numbers and multipurpose field markings:

    those look great

I like the bleachers. The angled design is a nice break from the usual but is still common in real life

I also like the angled design of the bleachers, it looks very nice paired with the parking lots and the track. The scoreboard looks very nicely detailed, a big plus. Great work, and keep it up!

these will work perfectly when paired with the University, and of the included schools, JBsimio's school packs, or even his Soon-to-be released Boarding School set (not to hijack the thread, but if you havn't seen it, head over to www.sc4devotion.com and take a peek).

Very nice work, you and SCBA share a lot of similarities in that you like doing this sort of thing which the game lacks.

Those are very nice! Beautiful detail! The only thing I would suggest (if anything) is toning down the red on the track juuust a bit. Make it a bit greyer or browner... or both! 9.gif

Alright, time to revive this thread folks.  Having gotten back into the swing of things and taking a short break from the RRP, I'm trying to get this project ready for upload.  Besides the lots I've discussed back in april here, I'm preparing a prop back that will include a number of additional fields for lotters to use.

A number of them will be in a pack of lots Travis at SC4D is working on right now that will be released likely at the same time as my lots.  Others will be there for anyone else to use in lot editor, or I might eventually release additional lots.  At any rate, enough talk.  Here's what's in the works:

This one will actually be in my lots in a prop family with the ones already seen.

    soccertexturecomparisonrj4.jpg

One for Travis, with it's source pic:

    previewkingstonnq2.jpg

    vfiles18577.jpg

One based around Nomad's old field on the STEX:

    nomadpreview2tf7.jpg

And an update of the $ Dirty texture:

    dirtypreviewyp9.jpg

And finally an update on the Albriet Stadium field:

    albrietpreviewnewtracktem4.jpg

Lastly(actually the last one this time) a press box for the metal bleachers:

    pbpreviewvy9.jpg

Last thing I'd like to say is that I can make custom fields for anyone if you get me a good RL source pic of what you've got in mind, doesn't take me too long.

Well, not sure if anyone is really watching this3.gif, but seein's as I'd updated it a couple times at SC4D, I figured I post up a couple new pics here as well, starting with some ingame pics of the press box for bleachers.

I'm finally starting to get some of the new fields into the game, which has me a little excited.  I've added one more field to the prop family for my lots and updated the original one a little.  It's had some more blue tones added, lightened a bit, and most importantly I backed the markings off a little bit to match in with the newer ones better(compare with the picture just above):

    threefieldsds3.jpg

And here's the Track and Field I just put together for new field(big time closeup4.gif)  I think the colors compliment each other quite well on this one.  Think I spent an hour just tweaking the orange in the track to be just right21.gif:

Nice Work. Would you please release the model files and texture files for those fields? It would help me construct some large stadiums.

I've certainly considered it, though I'm curiose as to what format would work the best for everyone, or if there are enough people interested  to justify a release of the textures and models(if you truly choose to call it that, simple rectangle with a UVW map.)  Here's the present problem, I don't want to release .bmp's or .jpeg's as they'd be very hard to modify.  I use an older version of JASC Paint Shop Pro (ver. 7), and thus all my layered textures(the real meat of this discussion) are in .psp format.

I can save them to a Photoshop format, which would no doubt accomidate more people, but I haven't tested(and can't for that matter since I don't have it) how the saved files would work in photoshop, e.i. what information and layers would be carried over.  So ultimately I'd like to get people's input on the matter of what type of file/files they'd like to see.  Also I'd like someone to test it in photoshop to see how it would work.  Until then, I can send out files to individual's as they request them and am more than happy to make adjustments and modifications.  I've been working closely with Travis at SC4D in making several field textures for a football pack he's working on right now, some of which I've showed above.  So just let me know what you have in mind.

At any rate, I'm all but done at this point (last render just finished an hour ago thumbsup, then redo a few Ltexts, and readme's Worried), so here's some, well, almost finalized pictures of my lot's I've put together.  Any criticism is quite welcome and encouraged Wink.

These three are a prop family on one lot.

    blackfd0.jpg

Not a prop family, separate lot.

And here's some new pictures of Albriet Stadium, which I haven't really showed in this thread yet, though you might have seen it around.

It's kind of my baby.  My first major Bat project.  Finally about to be released Smiley.

    Till next time,

    Chris

Wow, very nice. Maybe you could make one with a sunken playing field, so that the top of the bleachers are at ground level and go down towards the field.

Aye, I've seen a couple of source pics I've looked at like that.  The stadium Albriet is based off of is actually of a similair configuration, though I've modified it considerably, but I won't get to any more stadiums until I get a few things done with the RRP

Well, I've almost given up posting this project here, as there has been little interest, so I've been continuing it at SC4D where it's been actually quite lively, but I'd like to show for any who've at least been watching(though not commenting22.gif) what I've got done so far.  At the top of the first pic you'll see the original fields from the project, while the bottom half are the result of pics and feedback from folks over at SC4D that I'm quite satisfed with9.gif.

I fear this might just be a smidge too late to be bringing it up, but why only 4 lanes across? The track's lanes appear the same width as a sim is high....

But i'm very happy to see that you have what appears to be a dirt track, splendid, and an asphalt/tarmac/parking lot track which reminds me quite (not so) fondly of my high school days. I was going to ask that one be included, but it seems as if you're spot on top of it.

Very impressed withe the textures of the fields, all of them. But what happened to the checkered endzones? I like those, they seem so old school and quite possibly the greatest thing on ever to be painted on grass. Ever.

Scotty222 and Jacky:  Thanks guys, I kinda needed that1.gif.  It's just nice to know sometimes someone cares.

brtm2:  Indeed too late on the track48.gif as I'd be rendering for another week if I decided to change them all now, but that's actually something I decided on from the beginning.  If I tried to make them too much smaller, the lines would have all just blured together, particularly through the turns I'm afraid.  So I chose to make sure they look clean rather than to scale.

I love your description of that one field by the way, lol.  It's one of them that came from a member over at SC4D, here's the sat. photo he posted.

    LHA.jpg?t=1191332759

    9.gif

The one with the checkered endzones I wasn't planning on using in my lots seen here, but Travis will be releasing some lots largely using my fields and will have one just for that one.

great job on the stadiums here 4.gif I think brtim2 brings up a good point though, there are 10 track lanes at my school, and most track events i go to have similarly large numbers of lanes.

    Looking great!

I too notice the lack of comments sometimes on BAT threads..however, just keep updating and people will come...if you BAT it...they will come..

Sim shady:  Yep, but even if it looked alright if I put more in, I'd have to redo 6 different textures and rerender 9 different track and fields, in which case each takes about an hour to an hour and a half to render.  It's just too far into the project to make a fundamental change such as that.  I'd kinda wondered for a while if anyone would ever ask about that though...41.gif.  Plus it still looks good as is, so that's one point I can live with.

Skyliner:  Aye, and thank you for the inspiration on it, you and everyone else that contributed to this have really added alot to the effort44.gif

Frankie:  Yep, it's just nice to know your not talking to yourself sometimes21.gif.  Thanks for the encouragement.

Now for what I've actually accomplished.

I decided that the aluminum stands I'd done for the previous fields wouldn't fit as well with the new, um, older ones, so I made some smaller, worn wooden ones for them.

Excellent. You may know me from SC4d - beta testing the RRP.

I'd love to DL these. Perhaps a field with no numbers and a patchy dirt/red track but relatively nice grass

    Scotty:  Thanks, really appreciate it.

Flame:  yep, I recognized ya, even without the storm trooper doing, well, what ever it is he does47.gif5.gif.  Right now I'm cleaning up a few things in some renders, then I'll be finishing the modding and documentation to get these uploaded, so I'm not doing any more requests for the moment.

As soon as I'm done with these I've got some rugby fields I'm working on(which I realized I haven't shown over here, perhaps I'll have to do that) that I need to get done before I can finally get back to the RRP, so, what you see is very close to what you'll get1.gif.
