Wow, I just discovered this thread and it's bookmarked now. Very impressive work here! You have a great eye for arranging your scenes.

Fantastic work on terraforming you planets as well. The starsport planet looks great with the use of the  retaining walls.

Where did you get the underground city lots??? And the blue round, geometrically shaped building (on spaceport planet)?

Keep up the fantastic detail work!

The updates on this page are jaw-droppers indeed..

jacqulina:  Ha...creating awesome terraforming Jacky Style is part of why I wanted to venture outside Crystal City.  I love doing it, and I see why you love it so much.

2ch.net simplayer:  I can't tell you how big of an influence Naboo is on my style, especially after playing Star Wars: Battle for Naboo for N64 back in the day.  The spaceport was lifted directly from Naboo, after I saw a picture of it in a book in Barnes & Noble.  I love how it looks combining - as you said - Mediterranian architechture with starships.

Sirithil:  I'm glad you found what you were looking for.  Any questions, just ask me.

Schulmanator:  I do believe - let me check with the judges....yep...extraterrestitalian is a new word you invented.  congrats....

mjig_dudy:  Haha...yeah, that waterfall proveded the inspiration for the rest of the island.  I built that, then I decided to make a whole island out of it.

crushedcar:  Better pick it up in time for this one, my friend...

andisart:  Thanks for the compliments.  It means a lot to me when really experienced people like you come in this thread and are impressed and can be inspired by my ideas.  The underground lots are by 2ch.net Simplayer, just like almost everything in this thread.  They are called geofront, and can be found here:

    http://www.yuhisa.com/cgi/c-board/file/GeoFront.zip

As for the blue building, I'm not sure of the name, but it's by Tonks and can be found on the STEX.  Thanks for visiting!

Ok, on with the update.  I posted the new chapter of Crystal City, so now I can show off the island that I've wanted to show since I built it.  I'm not sure I need to say anything more, so I won't say much.  Just know that the island is 3 large tiles and 4 medium tiles.  This tour will take you all over, so just enjoy the show.

The Northeast part of the island contains the spaceport, the training facility, and a city called Saphire.

    01-5.jpg

    02-5.jpg

    04-5.jpg

    03-5.jpg

Can you see the Naboo influence?

    05-4.jpg

The Northwest part of the island contains the twin mesas and another city, which isn't named.

    06-4.jpg

    07-3.jpg

    08-2.jpg

    09-2.jpg

The southeast part of the island is pretty dull...just some buildings and nice scenery

    10-1.jpg

    Same with the Southwest part

    11.jpg

The south central part, however, contains a huge waterfall, a small modern city, and an ancient town called Saraceno, for which the entire island is named.

    12.jpg

    13.jpg

    16.jpg

    14.jpg

I love this town.  It was a joy to build, and it looks great, don't you think?

    15.jpg

That's it for now.  I have something up my sleeve for the next update, so keep watching.

Seems I really need to re-LOT those underground hangars.... It happens when the model is too close to the ground.

I like the hidden spaceport! A Star Wars feel!!!

btw, what are those loops for?

    Holy Naboo!

This is a work of pure genius! The waterfalls are of epic scale, mysterious cities shrouded in forest, modern spaceshuttles parked in an ancient city...20.gif Man, this is something.

Only suggestion, though...*looking around*...the Japanese seawall doesn't really fit the banks of the river. It's too gray. Maybe something more natural? Maybe Jeronij's green seawall set?

    Hey, who said that?

jacqulina:  Of course all my nature is Jacky-inspired...

    2ch.net simplayer:  Haha...what are the loops for...bwaahahaha...

anyway, yeah...the thing with the hangars is annoying, but manageable.  They look fine most of the time.  Sometimes it doesn't even do that.

    crushedcar:  Thank you!

arimou0:  Speechless is always a good reaction to have.  That's what I aim for.

Schulmanator:  Yah, I really should take a shower one of these days

Leech10:  They go pretty well together, methinks.

SpecialEddie:  I thought about that, but that dam that goes across the waterfall is part of that set.  I think they might have just replaced the seawalls recently...

zelgadis:  Oh yes...this thread could be called "Planning Crystal City".  There's usually more to an area than just what I show in the story.  I just want to show the rest without gunking up the story.

So anyway...besides getting this CJ off of page 7, I actually have a lil something to tease you with.  As you may know, I'm filling The city of Portalis with 6 large tiles of pure spaceport.  That requires quite a bit of imagination on how to fill the space.

I just started filling the third tile.  What am I planning here?  You'll have to wait to see.  Here is the basic development.

You can see the large valley I gouged, with the beginning of the terraforming.

    1-3.jpg

Here I finished all the layers.  What am I planning?

    2-5.jpg

It has something to do with this...

    3-5.jpg

But more so to do with this...

    4-1.jpg

A few of the towers are too large to see from the city view alone....so here is the first ever

    Portalis Region View!!

The passenger terminals are in the upper left, the initial development is on the lower right...pretty much nothing else...

    Portalis2.jpg

    Full size image click here!!!

That's all for now!  Keep reading Crystal City!  Next update will be a behind the scenes spectacular!

I'm pretty much lost for words... this is one hell of a beautiful CJ! You've captuered the Sci-Fi genre perfectly!

It's amazing how much SC4 can acheive with all these amazing BAT's and lots... its  no longer simply a city builder... its a World Creator! 10.gif

I'll definitely be back for more...

El Burro:  It is amazing...and I can't thank people like 2ch enough for what they do.  They enable us to use our imagination to the limit.  Anything is possible with this game.

2ch.net simplayer:  Thank you thank you thank you for the Coruscant stuff.  I'm ready to do it, and with the georfront lots, it's going to bring an entirely new level to this Coruscant stuff.

crushedcar:  Haha...I was waiting for it to appear in your CJ first, but I'm impatient.

homeandaway:  Oh come on now...it's not as ugly as Dubai....

beskhu3epnm:  Good to see you in this CJ of mine as well.  Welcome to The Planets.  I see it made a good impression on you...1.gif

I appreciate the link on your browser.  The Wild logo ended with hockey season.  I thought about the Twins, but they're not as cool as Conan O'Brian.

andisart:  Already answered, but still thanks for visiting.  Glad you could discover a new cool BAT for your Mars collection.

jacqulina:  Oh, you know it took some time.  I wish the mayor mode tools worked a little faster.

bartonn:  Haha...pretty close.  One of the new ones reaches 4km tall.  2ch discovered that 4km is the height limit of SC4.

deimo5:  Thanks a lot.  I wish I could update every day like I used to.  Thanks for visiting.

Ok, now to what I wanted to do.

tomdapom:  Hey, welcome back.  Glad you like the futuristic stuff.  Come back any time

Schulmanator:  I'll give you a hint, those lots go down into the ground...

jacqulina:  I actually had to tear down everything I'd built, because what you see is a much better idea than what I originally had.

I mentioned I had a trick up my sleeve earlier.  My trick isn't really a trick, but whole other world I've been building.  This planet is nothing like those super futuristic sci-fi cities...

I also have to build Earth for my story.  My main city is called Alamosa, and it's based on Los Angeles.

I'll only share a few pictures of it since it's nowhere near being finished, despite me working on it since the story began.

Here is the refinery which has been featured in the last few flashback chapters of the story.

    A movie Studio

    6-1.jpg

And finally, this is what I've been working on today.  This is the airport as it appeared when I first built it waaaay back in November when my building skills weren't what they are now.

    AirportFar.jpg

Take a nice long look at it, because I'm building one that more closely resembles LAX.  It's not very impressive right now, so I'll give you the picture I'm using to build it.

It's going to look like this

    See you next time!
