I'm definitely getting one though before April 29th... I need GTAIV the SECOND its released; a day without the game will be a day wasted!

I had a dream last night that GTAIV was released on PC at the same time as the PS3 and 360... no such luck though... stupid dreams getting my hopes up!!quote>

I loled. I'll wait for the PC version. It'll have slightly better graphics anyway.quote>

as for the pc version of the game, I think you should put the emphasis on slightly.

If I take a look at recent titles available for both ps3 and pc (and of course 360), there're hardly any differences visible.

As long as you don't have THE high-end pc sleeping at your desk, most pcs stay behind the ps3 and 360 because the consoles simply offer more graphics-processing power than an average gaming pc.

anyways, the're a lot of new screenshots published within the last few days, and these few caught my attention, talking about graphics:

    418.jpg

see the smoke at the bar? rising from an ashtray and lurking around under the ceiling?

    419.jpg

    435.jpg

finally, after the 5th 3d-gta (including the .stories games) a gta with bullet holes!

It ain't the ring of death, is it?

If so, wrap it up in towels and activate it for 20 mins, and then let it cool down for like 10 or 15 mins.

gives you a week of fun till it happens again...

It's something with very bad contacts.

When the ring of death happened to me, I got mine back within a week, even though they said 3-4 weeks.

I got the red ring of death this weekend when my brother bought it over on his luggage from Texas. Damn Airport security trashed the box and the thing wouldn't work. We turned it on and put a towel around it for 10 minutes to heat up and it started working again. Always take your XBOX 360 with your carry-on luggage. These people go crazy even if you have just a little bit of listerine!

if it's really the ring of death (3 red gizmos... ehm... lights), you should give the towel trick a try.

It really helps (enough videos proof this)

The 360 has some minor quality soldered contacts, and the solder here literally breaks up from the temerature changes when using the console.

now with the towel trick, the console gets kinda the sauna treatment, causing the solder to liquify slowly,  comparable to the actual soldering process, only at lower temeratures so the solder doesn't flow away.

actually pretty much the same microsoft does when u send the 360 to repair, only that they do it with a heat gun.

    ehm...

u guys seen the adds for GTA4 in new york?

    the-gamespy-debriefings-37-2008020104193

I wonder that this is even legal...

as for germany where I live, I can imagine some wannabe-individualists would sue the sh... out of rockstar because it might be possible that someone might probably look like nico and might probably feel accused...

Just like one of your former chancelors got sued to pay compensation for immaterial damage because he smoked on a prom although we have ban on smoking since 1/1/08.

Sued to pay smart money to people who were a mere 200 miles away!!

There's a guy I used to work with who likes alot like Nico and he started laughing when he saw "himself" in the teaser trailer but I dont think everyone would have the same approach as him.So as GMT said there could be some pretty bad lawsuits flying around soon.

Personally I think that ad is irresponsible of rockstar. We all know what GTA is about, but that makes it sound like some kind of 'murder simulator' to a passerby with no knowledge of the game.

Well, not really... its a crime simulator... calling it a murder simulator would also group Driver games, Gangster games, Mafia games etc into that category too.

Manhunt... now theres a murder simulator! God I love that game...

Oy, that's pretty big, GMT. San Andreas may have been the most hyped I've been for a video game...actually, maybe anything...

I was on that site every day looking at profiles of Mt. Chiliad, San Fierro, Angel Pine...then I got really really sick right before it was released and barely felt like playing. But I did, and I loved it. I want this so baaad!!

Ah, I thought that was just me? lol

I remember when I got San Andrea's through the post though, I felt pretty let down by it, there wasn't much new and I didn't much care for the whole 'gangsta' theme.

IV won't be like though, no freaking way... i'm looking forward to running over some ragdoll hookers and evading the cops. The chases in the game are going to be awesome! Even better than the Driver games. I hope you can use the cars for cover like you can dive behind walls, boxes and stuff... a realistic stand-off will be like a dream come true 9.gif

    Edit-

Oh yeah, and I hope the damage is a little more realistic than the last 3 (5) games... in VC and III it took 3 Handgun shots to kill an NPC, when in reality it shouldn't take more than 2 shots to the body to take a person down (unless their wearing kevlar), 1 to head for an instant kill. Hope you can wound people, like shoot a cop in the foot or leg to drop him without killing him... and I hope to hell theres some nice realistic looking blood spatters and a small amount of gore (npc's loose some limbs in a Grenade explosion), I know theres not going to be too much stuff in there I want since the Censorship body is a killjoy.

Do you guys think they'll ever make a GTA where you can bleed to death after getting shot?

Anyway I just hope they put tons of missions because i want to play the game long enough to appreciate all the cool scenery of the city.Being able to finish the game in 2 days is not cool.

From what i've read some Missions can last for many game days as you wait for occurences, events etc... its not a case of steal a car, shoot somebody, escape cops and get money anymore, its alot more tactical in its approach, abit like the Hitman games... there will always be vantage points to snipe from, back enterences to buildings, fire escapes to climb up and such.

They use an advanced physics engine, NPC's and players act realisticaly when shot; they'll stumble backwards, fall down realisticaly, clutch their wounds, walk slower, have worse aim etc.

Rockstar have taken basicaly even step possible to make sure the game is as realistic as it can get without spoiling the game play (you wouldn't want Niko to die after being shot once! We'll, I would, but i'm a realism Junkie...)

Oh, and the Cops aren't a linient as in the previous games... run a red light when a cop is watching and he'll give chase... run through a Toll booth without paying and the police will be alerted. Also, if your in need of a Cop Car to access the 'Crime Bank' that they have in their cars, you can Dial 911 and report a fake crime... no lie, check here...

The detailing is almost beyond belief...

I'm looking forward to this game so much!  I don't know if I've missed it, but have they given the release date of the PC port, or is it too far away to tell?  About how long is the delay between console and computer versions?

Its usually 6-8 months... all the previous GTA games have been released in October and the following PC releases have been in late May / early June. I'd expect IV to be on PC no later than early 2009.

Then again, it might not even come to PC (which I doubt but it could happen), thats the main reason I'm getting a PS3... the wait and uncertaintly would kill me!

One thing they should definitely introduce is fines.I hated getting busted just for bumping into a damn cop car.I would rather pay 50 bucks for peeing on the grass than spending the night in jail and lose all my weapons!

    hehe

I can asure u, you are not allone!

a hell of a lot of bfs disappear for weeks on this date, and police won't even care cuz they cruise the streets of liberty in squadcars ^^

but then again, I know a lot of girls that play gta too, like my gf. but she's more the cruise around type than the serious mission player...

damn, even glass shatters in 1000s of pieces, as one of the screenshots on the site reveals.

plus, the map I've drawn on page 4 wasn't too wrong at all, compared with the map shown on the page :-)

all EDITs: tires burn aswell, fog looks like fog and not like semitransparent textures floating around (not that this type of fog simulation from gta:sa looked bad, but... it's too countryside imho)

also, the multiplayer mode has a link on this page, just like the music (soundtrack I guess), you can dl a widget for your homepage to have all the news right at hand, and you get a lot of additional info on special places in town by exploring the map, including advertisments for sprunk, whiz, etc...

even the cavern of sorrow mmrpg has an appearance on the site... damn, the site totally excites me!

there's also some new videos to check out! (no trailer or gameplay videos, but nevertheless with ingame content)

there're definitily minigames in the game, (a screenshot reveals a dart game with niko and "opponent" written on the blackboard plus achieved points) probably you play for a wager like in gta:sa

You can get drunk, so the sceen gets blurry and shakes (one of the many new video sequence shows it)

    so much for that...

I take another look at all videos and new screens later, maybe I find some more interesting content "in between the lines"

Some of those new screens just look like concept art... they only time i've even thought that with another game is Company of Heroes.

I looked at the videos as well, it looks like some have been done on 360 and others have been done on PS3... there was a major difference graphics wise in some of them (the  Irish Pub vid especially).

Rockstar assure us that theres no difference between the platforms, but I can guarentee you there will be.

Cool, I looks like they ALMOST abandoned the archipeligo city idea....almost....

But still, this game looks amazing, shattering glass, smoke, decent fog...
