There might be more than one, VC had VCPR and K-Chat. Along with the new one they should add Chatterbox again that would be awesome.  I remember in GTAIII that mentioned 'Gardening with Maurice' on Chatterbox, it would cool if they brought him back, i found that guy quite unnerving.

'You don't know anything about marking you Territory do you? Go on, try it... pee on the front door of your Office and see if anybody dares to come near you!'

so, I've closed the poll now for it has no new votes for a while.

the result, tuning won with 30% of the votes!

well, a nice aspect, but I don't think it'll be in the game.

the following 2nd places with 20% each is shared by girlfriends, asset and gambling.

gambling... like horse races, pool games with wager are very realistic, since there scenes of pool included in on of the trailers. gamling as in casino games... idk about casinos in nyc, but maybe there's some illegal gambling going on in clubs or bars and restaurants, like illegal poker games or something.

girlfriends is another thing I wont bet on as a game content. In GTA:SA, the girlfriends give you some nice bonus as free healthcare, less trouble with cops, sex-toys, mission-related items, free repairs...

It's fairly possible that they include girlfriends in GTA4, but then again, all the bonus the GFs gave you in GTA:SA could easily be handled otherwise, e.g. with friends.

assets... they've been around since Vice City as safe houses and an easy way to earn a few bucks, so why not?

next thing were schools with 10%

Imho, they could leave school to nerds. seriously, apart from a faster increasing ability, they are totally useless and time consuming. I know some think it's all about those nifty cars you can "win", but they drive around town anyways, plus you can steal most of them at definited places (like the Bullet at the gas station in Juniper Hollow , or the Super GT e.g. at the airport in SF)

    import/export 0%

U can bet on it! really! It's been a part of the GTA series ever since, imho a surefire additional content.

my favorite, btw, would be gambling on 1st, followed by asset and tuning (tho I think latter is unlikely to be included)  on 2nd, and GFs on 3rd rank.

So much for that.well, u might have seen it already, I told you in the 2nd headline that the uk release leaked though.

I got the news from gta4.tv, the owner of the site recieved an email from an uk games-shop about it, and didn't believe it at first, until he recieved a scan of the release list:

    398.jpg

    clicky it

so it's clearly readable on the bottom of the scanned list, the UK release date for the xbox360 will be april 25th.

I'm not the one to judge wether this very list is a fake or not, but to me, the list seems like true evidence for 2 reasons:

1st: it looks like an actual release list, other game releases match official statements, and it looks like too much work for a simple hoax

2nd: april 25th matches what officials at the GTA4 development team already said, 2nd. fiscal quarter of 2008 (I know a fiscal year's and a calender year's start/finish are not necessarily the same, but for rockstar/take2, they are (as previous releases showed)

so, since it's likely that other relases are around the same week, go and mark the 17th week of 2008!! set your alarm clocks and safe some money!

and yet another great word to tell about GTA4

gamespy runs the most wanted list of 2008 this week, today it's action and rollplaying games.

    of course, GTA4 is included.

but what they wrote... it even surprised me:

Grand Theft Auto IV (X360, PS3)

Although we declined to rank the games in this feature, there's no doubt about which title would be at the top of just about everyone's list. The next game in Rockstar's wildly popular franchise was originally slated for 2007, but this is one case in which we don't mind the delay. After all, it gave the team at Rockstar North time to add a few more coats of polish, fix those nagging bugs, and fine-tune the new gameplay mechanics.

The hero of this iteration is Niko Bellic, a young ne'er-do-well from an unnamed Eastern European country. Niko has come to Liberty City (the setting of 2001's Grand Theft Auto III) in an effort to live the American Dream, something that Niko's cousin told him was within reach. Naturally, things aren't easy, and it's not long before Niko falls in with a dubious crew. You can be sure that we'll be introduced to dozens of offbeat characters, and we're hopeful that we might even run into an old friend or two.

While the game's story looks like it will follow the same tried-and-true formula that made the previous games so great, there are a number of new gameplay mechanics that will fundamentally change the franchise. The combat system has been reworked, so not only is the targeting much better this time out, there's also a cover system similar to the one seen in Rainbow Six Vegas. Did we mention that Niko can also head to an Internet cafe whenever he wants to get online?

Now, let's just hope this isn't one of the games that ends up on next year's Most Wanted list!quote>

Looks like this'll be the first GTA game I get for the Xbox, as I have a 360 and no PS3...I should get a PS3...I love Gran Turismo too and that's a PS exclusive. 15.gif

Really looking forward to this GTA though. Sounds and looks fantastic.

oh, get yourself a ps3 for the sake of gran turismo 5... one word: mindblowing! what I've seen so far of it (as a GT fan ever since the first one) is really worth waiting, just like GTA4...

    speaking of it:

folks, mark january 23rd in your calendar.

as they say, a B-I-G preview of GTA4 with loads of gameplay info and pics and stuff hit the web at IGN!

    EDIT:

let me be the spoiling a...

here's a few facts a german game magazin lists in a 5-pages preview of GTA4 (source is a german gta fanpage naming the magazin's subscriber pre-release):

    - Niko can climb phone-poles and dangle off trucks

    - The GPS doesn't show the location only, it even shows the shortest route

    - getting close to a bus-station makes the road map pop up

    - realistically simulated hitzones on persons

    - Roman (the cousin) has a wife named Mallorie

    - no explosion looks like the other one

    - you can find Lola, the prostitute, at the docks

    - the amount of cops chasing you down is not determined by the crime but by the attention it causes, further the safe-zone  to escape police is shown on the radar

    - Niko is a member of a group that tought him to shoot, swim and fight

    - Roman is a funny guy, joking around all the time, unlike the protagonist

    - Niko and Roman argue a lot but stand together as one if it's necessary

    - shooting gives you the feeling of an ego-shooter

    - Niko can hit the wall for cover, and blindfire around corners (comparable to splinter cell)

    - furniture and accessoirs, e.g. glassdoors, can be destroyed

    - Niko pushes pedestrians around and might get agressive if they moan around about it

and now something that'll make a lot of people smile:

    he's gay...

    no, just kidding!

Niko can activate a multiplayer mode via his cell phone

Wow, GMT that's an impressive list. I knew about the radar/police attention thing, but that's almost all new stuff to me. I hope they don't have the same old GTA plot, where Niko is betrayed by Roman and has to kill him at the end. Sweet didn't turn on CJ, so that's a start...maybe these two brothers won't either. You could totally see the Lance Vance thing coming, but Smoke and Ryder were a suprise. They're always being betrayed by someone. I really want them to be original with this one. It sounds like they have everything else done perfectly, even taking extra time to MAKE SURE it's perfect.

Someone finally said "you know, the last three were really glitchy and buggy...maybe we can fix that with this one, eh?"

"Good idea! Push the release back 6 months!"

I'm reading today's Gamespy Daily issue, of course with GTA4 on the front page.

let me do a conclusion of the text, as I read it:

    - previosly named frame-rate problems (as the representatives of the game magazines witnessed in the presentation a mere half a year ago) seem to be solved

    - the shown demo starts on broker, the equvalent to brooklyn. gamespy's representative mentions the amazing eye of detail R* had in recreating the area

    - new feature unveiled in this demo: what you can do when you get to use a police car.

you can access police files via onboard pcs, helpfull in certain missions such as the shown search & delete mission.

    - You can set waypoints using your gps (not just target locations), and in upper class cars, the GPS even has a voice system literally telling you where to go.

    - a chase camera locks on the target, e.g. cars to be followed (as I understand the text) instead of an arrow sign

    - you can shoot from inside a car, as often said already in previous statements

    - NPC's AI is much smarter than before, performing strategic maneuvers such as building up barricades you you can't follow

    - much higher detailed car damages (but the review sounds like there's no real-time damage model as the recent trailer make one think)

    - burning cars explode later than in San Andreas, but still do it

    - after rolling out of a moving car, it'll take a few seconds to recover, unlike in San Andreas where you can walk on pretty much directly after leaping out.

    - interpersonal relationships play a much higher role than ever before. you gotta make friends in order to get an easier gangster-life.

    - after being beaten up, movement controls and visuals change according to the feeling one would have after a bad fight

    - natural motion technology replaces motion-captured movements, giving a much more realistic look when bumping into persons or things (more realistic as in no prefab-look anymore)

    - car-handlings change when you're drunk

    - If a mission fails and you restart it, you won't get the same dialoges again. the content stays the same, but the formulations change. however, it's not yet declared how many different dialoges are "offered" per mission, so after the 10th try or something, you can sing along with all the different dialoges anyhow

    - cutscenes with the NPC and "employer" Playboy X show or imply a lot of background story for this character, what leads to the conclusion that characters you meet are even more "live" persons as they were in GTA:SA

    - natural motion technology also affects ragdoll-physics and hitzone-simulations

    - aiming is affected by the pressure with which you push the according button, in scales from blindfire to full lock-on

    - in close combat, fistfights and the like, blood splatters on the camera aswell

    - climbing a truck and staying up there is a fulltime activity of balancing and stuff. But it seem's that this feature is not available to all trucks but a few in-mission trucks.

    - swimming and boats are fully featured in the game

    BUT:

    there're still some bugs in the current version of the game, many known from San Andreas, like things suddenly pop up at the horizon, some quirky AI features, and movement errors;

an example for latter one is a ladder-climbing guy getting shot, that goes on climbing as if nothing happened. I choose this example, because the R* representative assured that this'll be tweaked until the release.

So the guys at R* still put a lot of effort in the development of the game to tweak smaller as well as bigger issues.

all in all, the review is a very positive one, making me wanting it even more than before.

and the new pics... wow... great great great.

or to quote the gamespy representative who wrote the review:

Anyone who's got dozens of hours invested into San Andreas will be

I'm looking forward to running people over with the Ragdolls... hitting a massive crowd of people in an Infernus and watching them all fllllly.

Wonder if theres gore and stuf in too... one of the best features of Vice City was being able to kill your foes with the Blades of a Helicopter... watching people getting minced would be awesomely sadistic 3.gif

folks, let me tell you a story about REAL GTA-Madmanship.

But no bad news as the GTA-haters hope to read now.

some crazy folks, even crazier than me, kinda... discovered the map of GTA4.

So, it was about the time a GTA4 trailer rocked the internet bandwidths.

In this trailer, folks like you, me and your pet saw 2 police speedboats racing down the waterways of Liberty City.

    nothing new so far,

    but now...

take a look at the screenshot of this very scene:

    240.jpg

    nothing unusual so far, either.

But now, let's take a closer look and this screenshot, by clicking it (Just in case you haven't done it yet)

    See something?

    no?

    oh... ok. nevermind.

now to the real story to tell.

    remember the crazy gta-fans?

    they saw something. something interesting.

yet, once more, the screenshot, now with a hint:

    maprevealedqm0.jpg

    ha, now you're curious, right?

this thing, circled red, looks pretty much like a map displayed on a monitor, doesn't it?

so, folks went on a step further, made up their minds and came up with this:

    lc08mapzt8.jpg

    nice map, ain't it?

of course, this map lacks a lot of accuracy, and it isn't confirmed either.

nevertheless, it's an impression based on the maplike thing seen in this screenshot of the trailer.

hm... now, it feels like pretty much noise about nothing, I know, but I thought I just let you know that it seems like the map of GTA4 was accidentally released with one of the preview trailers

That map is probably a load of rubbish. There is more than one bridge, as evidenced in on of the screenshots by the water front. Also it looks a lot different to your boat picture one. We'll only really know when the games comes out tbh 4.gif

If you look at the one in the pic of the boat, the middle island is vaguely reminiscent of staunton island in GTA III

now that you mention it... didn't even saw the error with brookyln and queens... maybe cuz I just looked at the GTA names...

as for the map's credibility, I said before that it lacks accuracy, and in now way it is claimed to be the real map. Even comparing the drawn map with the map-like texture in the screenshot reveals inconsequences, all I wanted to point out is that there's something visible inside the police speedboat that actually seems to be a map, and the drawn map I've added shows that I'm not the only one who made up his mind about it.

EDIT: to point out the differences, this is a quick paint drawing of what the map-like texture looks like:

    mapkv5.jpg

I took a close look on the texture, and found that a second, smaller on is just left above it, showing the part on the big texture that's covered by the boats windows.

compared to the map-impression I found on the web, this feels closer to the acutal texture shown.

oh, btw: a game-sells analyst named Jesse Divnich, predicted GTA4 to beat all other 2k8 blockbusters in units sold (or better to be sold)

    the ranking is:

    GTA4 - 17 million

Super Smash Mario Brothers brawl - 14 million

Metal Gear Solid 4 - 5 million (and I'll be the 5 million and first)

Hey guys whats up? I'm a big fan of GTA and I can't wait for IV(4). I doubt you remember me, but randomly popped by. It's interesting to note the massive change in attitude for the PS3 as a system. A while ago, I remember I could scarcely mention PS3 without getting a 'few' replies. I have supported it since the beginning.

Anyway, I'm a HUGE Gran Turismo fan also. I'll race you online with my GT-R. Or my A8. Or my Ferrari (yes!) ... too many to decide.

I'll check back sooner or later.

I've never heard anybody say anything bad about the PS3 except its price... but that'll soon subside in a few months time when the price drops even lower.

I'm definitely getting one though before April 29th... I need GTAIV the SECOND its released; a day without the game will be a day wasted!

I had a dream last night that GTAIV was released on PC at the same time as the PS3 and 360... no such luck though... stupid dreams getting my hopes up!!
