Uhh... This may sound dumb, but what mod?  Please provide some additional information, KingTitan.

If you're asking about the RHW mod, its not locked anymore.  It was locked before New Years to make way for the new version, but now it is unlocked and ready-to go!  Just follow the link in my signature to download it.

I have a quick question- hal, were you able to connect the express and collector routes at other points besides the beginning and the ends?? Like, somewhere in the middle?? Because I know that many highway systems that use that method have various points along the route that you can change which one you want to be on- either the express or collector. I know the highway I use to get to school- I-78- has this, especially when it hooks up with another highway, such as the Garden State Parkway. I was just wondering if this was possible in SC4. Thanks in advance for any advice.

@QMan: Do you mean slip ramps from one roadway to another? So far I havent found a way to do that. I havent had the chance to play SC4 lately but something you may want to try out is having the express lanes split, then have the ramp transition to a OWR, then use the puzzle pieces to swing it over the local lanes and convert it back to a RHW and merge it in. Sorry if that didnt sound clear...if school lets up, I might play with it this weekend and take pictures to show you what I mean. Im from the area so I know what you mean 2.gif

That's exactly what I mean. I really would appreciate anything you could do JCarter. I would really like to be able to do it, but so far, I haven't been able to (or, at least, an easy way to do it).

I honestly think "rural" is smearing this network's good name at this time. It's not very "rural" anymore.

Sorry for taking so long to respond to your question QMan! (Haven't been here in a while 5.gif)

Simple answer: Yes.  You can use the RHW 4-6 transition puzzle piece to establish a connection.  You can also use one-ways and the NAM overpasses to construct a realistic "exchange".  This can be done throughout the highway's length, not just only at the interchanges, beginnings or endings.

I am aware of many real-world examples of this.  If they aren't made properly, they can cause massive bottlenecks! (Using highway 401 as an example).

As for the "survival" of this guide, I may be making an interchange guide with the Nam Team if I ever get some free time on my hands.  This will include basic "multi-RHW" connections and will also feature similar junctions for the RHW-6 and the possibly the upcoming RHW-8.  Check the RHW thread and reference guide @ SC4D for more information (links in my signature).

Alright, here's my question. When you have a highway with lots of lanes, how do you add a way to get onto the inner lanes? The connector pieces only really fit on the outside edge.

this was my first attempt at connecting inner and outer lanes, so excuse some of the slopiness but I did come up with a pretty decent way of connecting inner/express lanes to act as exits/entrances. only way so far is to convert it to a oneway road for the overpasses.. and the transition peice to do so is kinda ugly so you might even want to consider using the 2 lane rh -> oneway instead as its a much cleaner texture.. l

ChaosEmerald: You could theorectically widen out RHW4 using the four lane shift (or whatever it's called) and have a turn lane into the inner lane with a one-way road bridge back over the RHW.

After posting this I have realised that this was exactly what dogma posted. Oops!

Dogma555, I have seen your interchange in the Show Us Your Interchanges thread, and I do admire it. Good job with the RHW and Lane shifts.

Out of curiosity when will RHW 8 and a revised RHW 6 come out?

Speaking about which, a new texture for the RHW is done.  It gives the RHW a more European look, as well as having a darker surface that blends in better with the other road networks.

-Shadow Assassin created this texture mod, just like he made a Euro set for version 13.

Here is a new photo of the Multi-RHW at work with the new textures.  This is also the first time I made a full parclo interchange with the Multi-RHW network, something I've always wanted to do since day one!

That was a pain to make.  Once the surrounding area develops it will get quite a lot of usage!

Also, the MIS/OWR transitions will be fixed in version 21, and hopefully those weird textures by the ramps will be fixed too!

With every release of the RHW network, the Multi-RHW becomes simpler and more complex at the same time.  It is easier to set up, and a lot more combinations are possible!

Here is a link to the new RHW texture mod.  It is available only at SC4 Devotion at this time, so you will have to register for a membership there before you can download anything.

-Hopefully it will come to the STEX as well in the near future.

Hmm... Did you download the latest NAM?  If you have not, then do you have the NAM Essentials file installed with the previous NAM version?

Is the RHW folder in your NAM folder?  It needs to be to work.  I would check the readme to see if you have installed everything needed and in the correct order.

If you did do all this, please provide some more information so we can get back to you.  Thanks!

I've got an idea from the latest HSRP using a technique by modding the monorail but not replacing it, so I think if we can do a similar thing by building a starter lot and drag a road (e.g. one way road?) as a highway?

In addition, if anyone here had used PEG's water channel surface kit might know there are three types that can be placed: right edge, centre part and also left edge (especially those "bridge-crossing" ones). Can it work by producing different types of starter pieces indepedently and putting them together as a wide highway??

Just some kind of crazy ideas yet I know nothing in modding/BAT-ing... lol

The RHW is exactly what you described fusion_lemon, It uses the same technology as HSRP, you drag a road (ANT, MAXIS intended it to be dirty streets) and you will be able to have different widths of highways, at the moment there is a 1 lane (in each direction) 2 lane and 3 lane highways.

oh... I thought I should have missed something before... lol

    thanks for your information~

are there any ways of making it into 4 lanes? 5? or even 6-7 lanes?

fusion_lemon: More lanes are in the works. Check out the RHW project @ SC4D (Link in my signature) for more information.

For now, using the Multi-RHW is the way to go to make highways with 4 or more lanes.

ok, i was messing around with the RHW, and i came across a dilema. how can i have a t-intersection? just like the regular highway? i saw that pic in the read me, but i cant remake it. can anyone help, cause i have not found ANY tutorials on that particular thing (which is kinda weird cause you would think someone would put that in with a tutorial about RHW).

krbe: that seriously did not help at all. i've looked at it, and it doesn't answer my question. i am asking about a t-intersection.

really, i want to know about one highway going over another. if it is possible, could someone help? (not saying that you didn't try krbe and thank you for doing so)

Well the best part of the RHW's modular interchange system (MIS) is that it IS modular.  This means you have control, and you can make whatever you want to without simply plopping an interchange.

The RHW reference guide DOES explain how you can create an interchange, and can be applied to the T-intersection you were talking about.  Simply join the ramps from one RHW to another.

-About the highway going over another, you can use the raised one-way puzzle pieces or make a tunnel.  Simply convert the RHW into a one way road and make the overpass.  This is how you can make complete interchanges.

It does take a little trial and error to get the "hang of it".  Because the MIS is modular, there isn't a tutorial about how to do it because every case is different.  Your interchange will be different from everyone else's.

You just have to be creative!  I would suggest loading up a new city and experiment!  Practice makes perfect!

    sedimenjerry...

Don't quit. I just takes a bit of practice.

Here's an example of what can be done for a T-Intersection using RHW and MIS.

thank you haljackey. so i just need to change it to one way. that is easy! will there be puzzle pieces for highway over (insert transit network) anytime soon? or tunnels for highways?

and thank all of you who tried to help me!

and captcity: i've seen that plenty of times, i just didn't know how to do it.

    EDIT:

ok, so i tried it, and this is what i got!

    T-intersection.jpg

    thank you guys again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jjune4991- that kinda looks like an incomplete cloverleaf. i guess in sc4 it doesnt really matter but for realism you may want to change that so that you don't have issues with the ramps sharing a deceleration/acceleration lane.

also you have two loops on the right side. is this intentional to offer a u-turn like option?

    still though nice work.

    due to jjune4991's work

im going to try RHW one last time

    wish me luck

    EDIT:

ok so i could only get the 2 lane to work

the 4 lane works but i can't get any of the ramps to work. the cursor wont change to green

i have the same problem with avenue roundabouts.

    help me please!!

    1. try not to double post. it doesn't look smooth. just edit your first.

    2. it was just a trial and i kinda wanted the u-turn. i'll do some more, but i'll show them on the correct thread (show us your interchanges)

    3. when you do the ramps, put it in the right direction. then use the dragable RHW to do the MIS. and i dont know about the roundabouts. go to the NAM troubleshooting thread for that.
