ok. first, see if you have the new NAM and RHW from sc4devotion. second, use home and end on your keyboard to move the pieces around. third, i didn't know they had to be green. hmm...ok then. fourth, just keep trying. move the piece for the exit around a little. try and get a pic of what is wrong if you can. good luck!

ive tried everything-ive pressed tab, home and end but nothing shows up and the cursor stays red

(when using the custom interchanges i've pressed tab before to change the type and i've used home and end to rotate it. the puzzle piece itself just will not appear at all.)

The only thing that causes the infamous "red arrow" bug is outdated transit mods that contain modified RUL files.  A pic of the problem in-game is of no use, as it only shows that there is a problem--it cannot help diagnose it.  (A pic of your Plugins and NAM folders would help more.)

If deleting your NAM directory and re-installing didn't do the trick, the outdated file is somewhere else in your Plugins.  This could include an outdated version of the RHW.   Also, if you've used the DatPacker on your Plugins, you may have an outdated  DatPacked NAM sitting around (which is why we strongly discourage people from DatPacking their NAM folder).

Do a Search on your computer for "NetworkAddonMod.dat" or "Network Addon Mod.dat".  If either of those turns up, delete them.

The fact that you have .dat files is not the problem.  (You need those. 2.gif)

The problem is that you have ones for outdated transit mods sitting in your Plugins folder somewhere.  It may not be readily apparent--they may be in some obscure location (not necessarily in your NAM folder), but they are there.

Try searching for those two filenames I mentioned in my post above.  (If you are running any version of Windows, there should be a "Search" button in  "My Computer" or Windows Explorer.

If that turns up nothing, you may need to take all your Plugins out of your Plugins folder except the NAM, and slowly add stuff back in.

Alternatively, if you are registered for the LEX over at SC4D, there is a program by wouanagaine called BSC Cleanitol.  The Main NAM Download contains a "definition" file for that program (called "Cleanitol_NetworkAddonMod.txt".  Delete your NAM folder again, open up Cleanitol and load that file, and it will remove all outdated transit mods from your Plugins.  Then, just reinstall the Aprill 2008 NAM and then the RHW.  That's probably the quickest way to do it.

Just click the little ". . ." button on the upper right corner, and find your Cleanitol_NetworkAddonMod.txt file (I've attached it here for convenience sake, see below).  Then hit the "Locating files" button, and it'll clear everything away.  When you're done, just use the "Backup Now".

Hope that helps!

I'd recommend getting it.  Even beyond this, it's a very useful program.

Here is a link to the program at the LEX over there (note LEX and Forum registration are separate--you'll need to be logged in to the exchange in order for the "Download" button to appear.)

If you ran the Cleanitol file I attached in my post above, yes, you should be good to go with re-installing.

If it was telling you that you were missing Dependencies, you may have not run the right Cleanitol file.

There's still something old in your Plugins somewhere.  Remove (don't delete) all of your Plugins except the NAM folder (including the stuff sitting loose in the main Plugins directory), and try running the game that way.

Do you by chance have anything sitting in the Program Files\SimCity 4\Plugins folder?  That may also be a problem.

sedimenjerry, congrats on getting it working. 4.gif  If you want to know a little more about using the RHW, I'd take a look at Filasimo's guide.  I am hoping to have a more thorough Readme developed for the next release of the mod as well, which will further explain the RHW's capabilities and limitations. (Hopefully, that will be quite soon--no release date, though. 2.gif)

As far as your other Plugins, I'd just slowly add them back in just to be on the safe side.  A lot of experienced players who are trying to pinpoint conflicts will add half of their Plugins back in, and if there's no conflict there, add the other half back in, and then divide things up further until they find the culprit.

Hope that helps!

good job sedimenjerry. just with some practice, you'll make huge intersections and highways across the map!

Um can anybody recommend me some downloads for the RHW so that I can create as beautiful interchanges and highways as you all have shown in the previous posts. i'm a beginner for Rural Highways so can you all teach me how you got the finished product?

Thanks. :-)

    Welcome to Simtropolis IsaacTham!

One download I recommend is SA's RHW texture replacement mod.  It gives the RHW a darker asphalt texture and some European features.  Even if you are an American player, this texture will still look amazing and blend in well with your cities.

    You can download it Here:

    https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1589

(If you are not registered at SC4 Devotion, you will need to before you can download this.  Its simple and free!)

    Best,

Well, haven't you placed a starter piece, before you draw the RHW? Or are you still working with the old side by side dragging method of v13 (which cannot be applied with v20, because it's replaced by starter pieces)?

b22rian: You're thinking about the RHW reference guide, right? I have a link to it in my sig.

xena99: The readme and RHW reference guide should help you out a bit. I also posted a revised tutorial on page 5 of this thread. I hope it helps ya!

Edit:  I have now posted a guide of how to make a Multi-RHW with version 20 over on the SC4D NAM tutorials section.  You can find it here:

    https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=5860.0

The bulk of the tutorial comes from page 5 of this thread.  Nothing new has been done to create the network since then.

I hope you find the guide useful!

    Best,

Hal how did you get picked to join the nam teamquote>

If you are deserving and have the talent for transit modding.

And please don't go off-topic. Thank you.

and...this thread is already dead. You shouldn't bump it in the first place.

I seem to have trouble with the slope pieces for off/on ramps with RHW. Like it doesn't want to build next to the road overpass pieces on one side, only one tile away. I eventually gave up and used a standard ground level diamond interchange, but is there any secret for getting the space saving elevated ones to work?

this is not in the tradition of a highway per se, but I am trying to get this special avenue intersection and avenue peice done. Since tarkus is here - this is the closest place I could get to get in touch with the guys that can do this. Basically, I've created 6 textures...

    solvedoz7.jpg

if you look carefully, textures 123, forms the peice that connects to the avenue. For the north end you simply rotate it, no need to create a new peice just use the home button to rotate it, like you would plopping a lot.

textures abc, fits seemlessly as a one peice with the connector peice 123, and can be extended indefinetly allowing you to drag out you avenue in this direction.

For application, you will notice that the angle is not 45, but closer to 30, and could create some interesting new development on the city infrastructure and your layout. This is the original footprint for my two projects Island Harbourview (completed, growable) and the CS$$ mall Olympian City. the avenue peices run down the middle. Since this is a real life creation I need a new angle, the 45 was too wide making for a huge amount of unecessary modelling, and lotting.

    schematicqq7.jpg

    40.gif

Finally here are the avenues textures themselves. I've provided both the diffuse and the alpha (check attach). If anybody could create these two peices, make them functional (like an avenue) that would be awesome.
