    Mike's Showcase! Revisited...

Can you believe it!? The last update on my CJ was June 19th of this year. Wow... haha!

Well my whole summer was really good, and so was the first semester of college. =) Have been really busy. But now life permits me to keep up on my city journal. It won't be an update everyday, though. Maybe once or twice a week. But hopefully you will enjoy the next few of my cities. I'm working on a region right now, called Ancram. Basically now I'll just showcase cities and regions randomly. I might not stick with one region for a set amount of time, but rather alternate back and forth between them. =)

Hope you all enjoy the first city in Ancram. MESA!

Mesa is one of the bigger cities in Ancram. It is located about 450 feet above sea level on a huge plateau that overlooks the rest of the region. It is located on the Scanlon River and only one highway and one el-rail track can get up to the city. As a result, there's hectic traffic sometimes getting up to the city. The city's altitude makes it very windy, but the wind is made up for by the incredible views below.

Mesa sits in a valley between two huge mountain ranges in the region. The mountains are very rocky but in some areas offer lush tree-life.

The ragged Scanlon River meanders 450 feet below the city.

Mesa's city center consists of many office buildings and parks. It is often referred to as "The Heavenly City" because of its altitude and beauty. Many people work right in the city center, which is headquarters for some very important corporations and companies in the region.

The main rail station is the epicenter of downtown. The El Rail in the region makes it up the plateu, but then descends underground for easy circulation around the city.

    THE PARKS

    Mesa-Jul121061227042468.jpg

Mesa has some nice looking parks. The parks must be maintained very well because the high altitude of the city away from the Scanlon River keeps the terrain dry. Fortunately, the city does receive rainfall, and even snow early.

The park above is Herald Park, which is located in the center of downtown. It is a great meeting spot, a place to relax, and a place to eat lunch after a busy morning in the nearby offices.

Mesa Memorial Park flanks downtown to the west, and is a much larger park with more amenities. On the parkgrounds are the city library, Memorial Museum, and Old Fort Mesa, which is an ancient fort built on the plateau. As you will see, many of Ancram's cities have these forts, since many cities were in battles with each other.

There you have it! An update since June!! 3.gif

Stay tuned for more of Mesa! Hope you enjoy! 4.gif

Very nice Mike! I like your use of custom trees, and your amazing planning of Mesa. I also like the region (that we have seen so far) and the downtown.

Be here for the next update. 9.gif

    Suburban Mesa

Thanks everyone for the comments! (Godzillaman, un1, haljackey, Stnggrl, ilikehotdogsalot, beebs, Schulmanator, SirUnger, & Artur_001!)

Today we will be looking at the suburbs surrounding Mesa, especially the ones on the northern part of the plateau!

This is a built up area just over the Mesa Expressway, across from downtown.

When the Mesa Expressway reaches the top of the plateau, this is what it looks like, signifying the start of the city.

This is Carlin Circle. This neighborhood is up and coming and features a little bit of "old town" Mesa. The suburbs around the town are quaint and representative of suburban living.

Here is Gramercy College, located right smack in downtown Mesa. Its urban campus specializes in business, education, and nursing. Nearby, not pictured, is Mesa's Gramercy Hospital, which has a training program for new nurses. The open space across the street from the college is being prepared and conserved for additional dorms and a new hall.

Hope you liked this update!   4.gif
