Stupid MySims...

Why do the MySims complain about the commute? And why, oh god why, must the contradict everything they say?

A Sim in one of my biggest city's said that the commute was killing her, YET SHE WORKED ACROSS THE ROAD! AND SHE WALKED TO WORK!
I upgraded the road with a ped bridge and a subway station, yet she complained that the commute was so long!

Or let's listen to the story of a MySim called John Stobart. He complained that him and his carpool group were taking forever to get to work. But this carpool group doesn't exsist. You see, he takes the subway. So, I thought maybe the station and tracks were overused. That wasn't the case at all.

So, why do the MySims exsist? Do they know? Do WE know? All they seem to do is tell me that they want a school down the block, or they can't find the college.
Why are the MySims so dumb?

I agree with you that the sims are very stupid.  But after years of trying I think I finally know what' s going on.  Lately whenever my sim complains about something I treat it as a complaint from the entire city.  when my sim complains about commute time I try to reduce commute time overall for the entire city.  For complaints about health or education I add a hospital or a school not near my sim's residence but where I feel it is needed.  Believe it or not this has worked for me.  My last several cities have been my best ever.

I found personelly the "my sims" thing to be a pain in the butt, they whine about everything and are almost never satisfied no matter what you do for them, and if you do satisfy them, you end up running the city in the red and go broke.

Personelly i never use them anymore, just use the graphs and my own judgment on how to set up and run the city. I pause the game and scan through my civic buildings quite often, or just wait til they give me a red alert message and address the problem then.

I never use them. The huge numbers of messages are annoying. Also, graphs are great!

I like to use the My Sims function too, but like JoystickJunkie I get really annoyed at how often they complain.  But I'm interested to see if juaquin's theory works.  Maybe their complainst are simply word-of-mouth, so to speak?  Intersting.  Oh, and Filasimo, who HASN'T sent a meteor or 4 on thier My Sims?  lol

I think the whole MySims and Missions thing sucks, it's got nothing to do with the game's premise.

Hey, JoystickJunkie!

I seem to find that the sims don't have any working purpose. I do however hear and trust the articles that appear on the bottom of the screen when in mayor mode. They may be simulated in a similar system, but I find them much more useful and trustworthy than the sims.

I find that the wealthier the MySims become, the more insufferable they are. No commute is ever short enough, no school is ever close enough. Sometimes they can be a little useful, though. I discovered by accident that the University has inter-city benefits thanks to a couple of MySims who got degrees from the University in the town next door. I just just begun building the city they lived it and hadn't made a college yet. Also, over time the MySims die and their children (who look identical to them) can take their place. I went into detail about it in another post. Usually what I do to stop their whining is to move them to a job that is closer to home, or just kick them out of my city & start over.

And when they complain about the diner, it makes me wish I could have a Health Department ordinance to shut it down and fine them, like in real life. That would be a great mod. I have one town with something like 12 Depressing Diners (or whatever they're called) in a row!

Just so you know...you should pay attention to the last post date to determine whether or not a thread is dead here...for next time of course.  Welcome to Simtropolis by the way! 4.gif

I had a laugh.

100% full ACK about the subject.

Those Sims are a waste of time.

Bread got more artificial intelligence than a Sim in SC4.

I only use like one or two MySims when playing if at all. But mine aren't as stupid as the original poster suggests some are.
