Lurk time before joining ST

Before you joined the Simtropolis community, how long did you lurk around the site?

I think I came across this site in early 2005 but couldn't register or something like that, and then many months later I came across it again and finally joined.

i believe I lurked for three or so months before joining. I remember browsing through the Map Exchange - and if I am not mistaken, one did not have to be a member at the time to download the maps. 

I had mainly stuck around the official site - but it became more and more obvious that information available at the official site was very limited. Meanwhile, RaphaelNinja kept talking about these wonderful discoveries here, and I began lurking more...and more...and more...until I decided it was time to stop the lurking.

I moped about the site for a couple months before I ended up joining. I liked the official site quite a bit, for some reason, and didn't see a reason to actually join. Eventually I joined, mostly just for the LEX.

I saw the site a few months before I registered.  Couldn't register at that time, and was finally able to register a while later.

Lurked for several years, actually. I had some bad experiences with joining online sites and refused to join anything new for a very long time. Must say I'm glad I joined as there have been exactly zero bad experiences here. GREAT site and community!

I'm in the 1-6 month crowd.  Specifically, about 3 months, between the end of November 2005.  I finally joined on 2/24/2006, right before when the server upgrade started.  I actually found the site through the Wikipedia article on SimCity 4. 

I lurked primarily to get a feel for the forum, and see how people posted and look at the information out there so that when I did finally join, I wouldn't look like a total $%&^!. I had prior forum experience before as well, so that helped too.

I haven't regretted joining ST once.  It's a truly great site with great people who are doing great things to improve the game, and I'm happy to be here!

I lurked for about a month before joining, I saw all the crazy amazing stuff on the STEX and tried my hardest to join. No matter how many registartions I sent nobody would send me anything back. As a last resort I bribed (Donated acctually) whoever replys to the registrations £10 to let me in and I got a swift reply, hehe.

Even after getting in, i was too busy downloading stuff to comment on the forums, I only started talking on these forums about 2-3 months ago

I picked the last choice.

I came here in early 2004, but at that time, the Simcity Exchange on Simcity.com was sort of brand new and the BAT had just come out around that time, so I decided to stay on Simcity.com until it fell apart in late 2004 (in other words, horrible BATs & people were copying each other which made me upset) and then I lost interest in the game until June of 2005. That's when I got back into the game. So I started searching for websites and I came back to Simtropolis which had a complete make-over since I was last here so I didn't notice it at first. At first, I saw the awesome BATs in the STEX ( ), which then I decided to finally join. In fact, I didn't actually come into the forums until a month after I had joined. But then once I saw the forums were fun & exciting, I decided to start coming here as well... and then here I am today, still lurking around, but still posting in some threads at the same time.

I had heard of the site before joining, but I only signed up once someone on the official BBS (is that thing even still around?) linked to an item on the LEX (now part of the STEX) I wanted to download.. and I couldn't do that without joining. I didn't really start posting until about a month after I joined.

I didn't lurk at all I don't think lol. I had known about simtropolis for a long time though, at least ever since I joined the original sc4 bbs about what, 2 years ago? Anyway, I was active there for a while, then finally decided to join st earlier this year.

I found  this site August/September 2005. I was kinda discouraged that my cities won't look as good as the current popular ones back then, so I didn't bother joining (plus, I wasn't that interested in SC4 as much). The current CJ's I enjoyed those wonderful days were: RALSTON, CHAUMAUNT, BRASTOVAL BAY AREA, SAN PORTELLO, and CABEL BAY--great CJ's they were, talk like Yoda I stop now!

 After realizing that my game was crap without custom content, I had to join...that took a long time.

hmmm...found the site when it had only 20k members...I remember thinking...this website looks chill....flash forward...I almost bought the game it was summer of 04 and I wanted to join...only problem was i needed an email... long story short I joined in Nov of 2004 cuz of mostly lack of computer and as always lack of money....

I'd love to have been an 03 member....

I did exactly what duke87 did. I found out about ST from the official SC4 site and my main motivation to join ST was to download custom Lots. I made my first post after around 2 months of lurking.

Well... I was lurking for a while... I had discovered the website in November 2003... by around February 2004, I was really starting to like the site, and by the time March 29, 2004 rolled around, I joined. .... this is also the first website that I ever joined
