Yeah, I think people have been on and off working on some variation of the 6-lane avenues. A while back there was talk of getting the source from Maxis and using it to create new transit networks (among other things) - if such a thing turns to reality 6-lane avenues would be the first new network I'd want.

Really nice Publix shopping center. You do as good of a job as is possible trying to combine all of those suburban plaza lots into something realistically-proportioned.

Great update! That road widening is so realistic! You've even got concrete abutments in the road blocking off one lane! haha, that is just too cool. Is there a plugin on the STEX for that? Also, great suburban shopping centre. You've placed it right at a major interchange which is also very realistic.

In terms of what you should build... you should continue to sprawl because that looks really cool, haha. Maybe a nice high-tech industrial park...? Anywho, keep it up!

I will have the new update by tomorrow, I promise!

I started working on a large area all at once, and I hate showing pictures of unfinished development, so it is taking a little bit longer than usual.  But I will give you a zoomed out pic...

After this next update, I am not sure what I will start working on... I still need to create my mall area, an industrial zone, and an airport.  I just can't decide which to do first.  I have already made a couple of airport logos though, these are my two favorite:

I love those lakes! Your terrain mod and water mod really work together there. Very good choices. Those highways are a bit crazy. :-S But they look sweet. Can't wait for this full update. :-D

Really nice touch of realism you've got in there. The phone book made me lol'd. Where'd you get the road widening thing - it's awesome. If it's not downloaded, how did you make it; was it a mod or a prop+lot? I'm personally interested in modding avenues.

Finally time for another update, but first to answer the long awaited replies (sorry)...

pickled_pig - Yeah, that would be nice, I was looking at the 6 lane avenue thread and it seems to be going well.  I'm glad you like the Publix shopping center, I felt like I need to balance out my city by making some average run of the mill shopping centers to go along with the more creative ones.  Thanks again!

Road widening Info.

The road widening look was accomplished by 1x1 lots I created in the Lot Editor.  The base texture is a light colored grass.  The overlay texture is the dirt streaks.  I used the low wealth industrial avenue median filler as barricades by having them hang off the edge of the lot.  Then I placed different types of construction vehicles to make each lot a little different.  There are also those concrete tubes and asphalt piles that I added to some of the lots.  Hope that answers your questions about it!

Very nice! Thats a very realistic looking commercial spot. Big box, lots of parking, right off an expressway. :-D My fav pic in this update is the 2nd last. That stair-step building is really cool. Combined with the green and those houses it works marvelously. Kudos on another great update.
