  1. City of Sails, Auckland.

This is fantastic. I want to ask though... is there any way for us to shrink the scale to a 4:1, instead of a 1:1.... like, do you still have the jpg on hand? That'd be so great, since the 74x74km is just so huge.
  2. This is beautiful. Congratulations on finishing another masterpiece
  3. AGS Rec Baseball Expansion

Brilliant. Maxis just got owned. Again.
  4. Borden, 'The Little Island City'

I'm amazed I have never seen this brilliant CJ around before. What have I missed?!? Keep it up, it's awesome!
  5. Osaio: Hand Terraformed

Mmm. Nice start, I like the ambience in this. Although, I have to say, I'd prefer if there were more pictures -- say, one per paragraph at the least. Also, I'd reccommend turning off the zots by going into Ctrl+X and typing tastyzots. Other than those two minor things, this is great!
  6. San Francisco Bay Area

Heh. Nice start. This is gonna be hard, I can see.... However, I would have suggest on one thing - make the eastern span of the Bay Bridge diagonal by terraforming the underwater land so that you can build a el/ground highway over it. It's gonna look pretty crummy, but the scale will be right =]. But that's your choice. I'm surprised that you decided to make the region on Maxis's regional map though - Maxis tends to make pretty bad water/hill/scale (especially scale)mistakes. Without a good basis for those three, it's gonna be hard to make a recreation. There should be a more accurate map of SF bay area on STEX (?). Bleh. Sorry about that. I live there myself....tend to be slightly picky ;[ Good luck anyhow!
  7. Shanghai vs. Dubai

I think that it's never truly fair to simply compare, "vs.", two cities. Both come from different backgrounds, different cultures, different countries, etcetc -- you get the idea. To say that "____ has taller buildings, so it's better" doesn't really have much oomf into it. Just my two cents to all the threads out there ;o. But, in this case, I'd have to agree with the three people above me - Shanghai is truly expanding due to the enormous demand of China - not just the (wild?) dream of an Arab oil shiekh. I didn't mean any offense, but there just weren't many other ways I could put it. However, Dubai IS an architectural marvel - yet so is Shanghai. I suppose both have their ups and downs. strange nonsense ramble>
  8. Our Mini Earth

Dang, I'm lost for words.. I really enjoyed the mountain pics. You definitely put lots of work in changing all the textures and stuff. Dang, Taiwan sure is small though, lol. Still, I have to point out -- Shanghai was ruined a little by the museum in the far back. Perhaps it was the color of the BAT, but meh. Too many landmarks in too little space ;D. Great job on HK!
  9. Our Mini Earth

Very nice. This is brilliant! I love the concept, and how you managed to create the atmosphere of all the "mini-cities". Great job on LA and Egypt. Looking forward to more! (Tis' a small world after all--)
  10. Aqua Vista

Really nice touch of realism you've got in there. The phone book made me lol'd. Where'd you get the road widening thing - it's awesome. If it's not downloaded, how did you make it; was it a mod or a prop+lot? I'm personally interested in modding avenues. Looking forward to the airport!
  11. Somewhere on 101

Awesome. Short and sweet, and the pictures match up well with the story. I'm getting hooked!
  12. Chula Vista Metro Area

Quite interesting. Chula Vista was what I was going to name my first SC city . Keep it going!
  13. Suburban Sprawl

Look at the enormous sprawl that horrible city created. After all, it's SURROUNDED by cities upon cities upon cities. And you forgot the San Jose in SF-Oakland! To me, suburbs are the answer to someone who wants an escape from the city - but needs its comforts and amenities. Although suburbs rarely have a special touch and "atmosphere" to them, like most downtowns do (look at San Francisco, Seattle, NYC), it's a wonderful place for kids. It's easy to get lost in all the hustle of the cities. I have to oppose hogs29, too. It's definitely not true that "nobody knows each other, and couldn't care either." Although I have never lived in a downtown, I know that it's plenty easy to make friends out of suburbian neighbors. However, as we keep expanding more and more, we need to stop - and look at ourselves. Are we doing the right thing? Consuming more and more land, chopping and smashing and claiming our spots in what used to be acres of farmland a mere decade ago? After all, as we expand further and further from the centers of our cities, we are spending more and more time in transportation. Driving to a restaurant. Driving to a mall. We are losing our sense of ourselves, our sense of true community. Anyhow, the answer is only for you to decide.
  14. Region Transport Legend

Hipshot: not too sure, but I think you have to load and save your cities first for the new legend to show. On-topic: Although I haven't tested it out yet, it looks awesome. It really has a Euro / Asian map feel to it :D
  15. Seattle, Washington

Yes! I'm back! W007! Been a little busy lately with life and some technical problems.. sorry about the lack of updates . Here's that semi-mega-update you've all been waiting for! Also, before I begin, Merry (belated) Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, etc. etc. to all! ^^ >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> @Schulmanator: Heh, thanks! @kurtvedder: Oh, I see. Traffic, horrible things that should've never been invented @pquarles: I can see you still remember quite alot! xD @thundercrack83: Thanks, I try my best @jacqulina: tytytyty!! @Mr. Beer: Rofl, nice sig btw. Now I have something to share > @asturianu: Thanks! @GMT: I kinda copied the idea from another CJ...anyways, nobody's supposed to know that xD @Skram: Tch..far from it... Thanks a bunch though ^^ >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Update 3A: Harbor Island Looming far into the murky distance is a tower of rocks unknown to the battered crew. A jet of sea spray slam into the moldy shape of the ship. Suddenly, a brilliant beacon of light flashes out a warning - and the hulk makes a desperate turn. The wooden rudder creaks, but the ship swings out of reach of the menacing boulders just in time. With the turn, the once-palpable fog vanishes, and the sailors let out a shout -- Land Ho! It's Harbor Island! "Harbor Island is a man-made island in the mouth of Seattle, Washington's Duwamish Waterway where it empties into Elliott Bay. Built by the Puget Sound Bridge and Dredging Company, Harbor Island was completed in 1909, and at the time was the largest man-made island in the world, at 350 acres (1.4 km²). Since 1912, the island has been used for commercial and industrial activities, including secondary lead smelting, shipbuilding and repair, bulk petroleum storage, metal fabrication, and containerized cargo shipping. Warehouses, laboratories, and other buildings are located on the island. Fishermen use the waters around Harbor Island for shellfishing, crabbing, and fishing." --Taken from en.wikipedia.org RL pix: ... ... >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> We start our pixellated journey at the port cranes on the East Waterway: The opposite side deals with crude... and garbage o_o Of course, all that cargo has to go somewhere! All this is shipped by train... ...and truck... ...off the island... What about the imported oil? Oh wait! Did I hear oil? We all know what oil feeds..! And with oil, BOOM comes the fire (and a fire dock!) All these ships OBVIOUSLY need a place to be built and repaired! We swivel our camera to the south end of the island. Awaow; a huge change in scenery! There, we find a calm marina, frequented by the rich. Seattle's Green Line has built a station here: With that, our trip to Harbor Island ends. Thank you, and Happy New Year!
