@stingstingsting: I really like your pictures, it's an original thing to show. Nice background story as well, it would fit nicely in a CJ. May I ask where you found the passenger carriages?

@the00guvna: Wow, great picture! What a good idea to use the row warehouses for the train station. Looks very industrial.

Bernhard, your pictures always make me drool all over the computer - and right now I'm using my wife's notebook.. I'll be spending the rest of the week cleaning up this mess.. 40.gif

That bridge is awesome; the stones in the bridge anchors, the flora, the train itself.. (reminds me of my childhood Märklin set.) I love it! 19.gif

Thanks the00guvna! Cool railyard in the works and good use of the victorian depot 2.gif

Thanks heitomat! I blv they were Oppie's. I downloaded them long ago so I don't remember exactly where I downloaded them from. Here's one site tho... http://www.simphoni.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=11048 Also, I changed the ones in game to koploper instead cos they really look amazing turning on the curves and they also remind me of Sydney trains. I still use Oppie's freight trains tho, and I have a BNSF change for my steam train. The whistle totally doesn't match tho 3.gif Are you going to have a CJ soon? I like you Bergen tram pics muchly. Maybe you could make NSB trains or even the IORE 2.gif

And bernhard thats just awesome!!! Ditto heitomat and it looks like it could well fit in MiWuLa! Great job wit hthe CJ 3.gif

Thanks for the kind words and the link, stingstingsting. 1.gif On second thoughts I didn't download the carriages after all. Until it is possible to have additional passenger carriages in the game, I can't use them as they would make my Regional Runner commuter train look odd..

I'd love to see NSB stock in the game, especially the EL18, but unfortunately I do not have the knowledge nor the time to do this myself.

I canceled my order of 100 ex-WMATA Rohr railcars, lol.

BTW, nice rail yard. I always wondered how come SC4 never came with a built-in rail yard.

@heitomat: I guess the advide to cover your keyboards came a bit too late ... but there's bad news for your keypoards: This week is going to be droolful! 16.gif

@stingstingsting: Glad you like it! 1.gif

TekindusT commented in my today's update that I could easily spam this thread with the pictures of that update. 10.gif But I would never spam here, only tease ... heavily tease! 9.gif

Well, this week is special and there are 5 days = 5 updates left.  You can bet that there will be some railway opictures this week. You don't believe me?

Well, then let me tease you with one of today's pictures:

Uncontrolled drooling is a well known side-effect of reading the "Show us.." threads.

Another marvellous picture, Bernhard. I just love the DB-sets, and especially in rural settings. The red colour is a great contrast to all the green.

I give to you no trains, but still.. Let's see if you can spot what makes this picture worth showing. 2.gif

i keep forgetting to ask you, what are you using for your fences? Right now I use embankment tiles with fences to keep dumb Sims off the tracks, but they don't look so hot when the railroads are on the same grade as streets. Yours seem to allow for trees. I'm curious as to which ones you're using.

He's using these wooden fences from the RRP. I use them too (and the RRP pasture flora aswell), and they add some beautiful details to your cities.

Thank you, ImVhOzzi, for answering questions while I'm absent. 2.gif All of your answers are of course correct - I'm currently trying to actually play the game a bit to capture some new pictures to show off.. 9.gif

mproca - To get the signals in game I spent quite a lot of time using LE. I had to modify the placement of the signals shown on the picture above, though, as some of them were placed wrong compared to the tracks. (I'm surprised Bernhard haven't mentioned anything about it yet.. 3.gif)

Ah I trough you found somewhere the lots already made 15.gif

Can youu talk to the person who made them to obtain the permission to upload some of the lots? Also if u have some extra time can u do some lots with the SFBT Catenaries for the curve rails?

the signals, personally look a little odd, after playing around with them, because they are rather tall..... or the catenaries are just short..... meh

@mproca: Andreas from SFBT told me that HD props of the signals are being made. I'm sorry to say that I won't ask for permission to upload anything until the new prop set has been released. As for the curved NAM rail, Kenworth of SFBT has already made a set of catenaries for those, found here. The site is in German, though..

@bwong: I beg to differ.. Yes, they are tall, but this picture (and this one as well) shows that they are supposed to be this size.

Oh.. and I've got some pictures to show..

A northbound express leaving Victoria at St. Jacobs Junction:

Victoria_Rail_StJacobs_01.jpg

Leaving Victoria Central, heading south. Commuter trains are directed to the upper level and express trains are directed to the lower..

Victoria_Rail_Central_01.jpg

..and as the commuter train stops in the suburban station of Upper Taplow, the express can continue unhindered.

Hope you like it. 2.gif

@bwong: Thank you. The station is a part of this set by SFBT. It contains some very nice stations for NAM over- and underpasses as well. The trains are also SFBT, made into automata by Swamper77, found here.

@heitomat: I'll answer questions again if you want me to, it's no problem2.gif I downloaded the catenaries for the rail curves, but the file type is "RAR". Should it work if I place the file in my plugins folder? I suppose you're using them3.gif

@ImVhOzzi: Yes, same procedure as always. Actually I'm not using them at the moment.. I've taken them in and out of my plugins several times - I can't decide whether or not I like them. Anyway, they are of top quality - the rotation of the catenaries is just perfect for the NAM curves.

Note: I got a CTD the last time I used them. I'm not saying it was because of the NAM catenaries, I'm just mentioning it (At the same time I was testing the rail signal lots as well.. Might have something to do with it.. 3.gif).

when you were playing with the idea/concept of express trains and local trains, would you implement that simply by making one route with more stations than others? or was that simply used to make some coolness into the story?

Thank you, Josh6. I've gotten so much inspiration from others, and it's great if I can give some back as well. 1.gif

@bwong: I actually got inspired from YouTube videos of German S-Bahn concepts, where you're likely to see the S-Bahn run parallel to regular rail - but with more stations. But in my recreation, the two types of trains also share the track now and then. In fact, they are only separated in my bigger cities. Also, I think it looks cool.. 2.gif

More pictures of this concept:

St. Addieline Station

Victoria_Rail_Central_02.jpg

Upper Taplow East Station (Looks like I captured a little bit of GLR as well.. 2.gif)

More to come in my soon-to-be-presented CJ.

@heitomat: Again, always a treat to see your work. ImVhOzzi answered my question about the fences. Thanks, ImVhOzzi!

BTW, that's the embankment wall I tend to use. I like the moss covered wall thing. The other walls in that set seem too clean for me.
