I'm drawing this map in Inkscape.  As soon as I think the region has achieved critical mass I'll try and make a CJ out of it.

Photobucket

the subway/el/glr system of my latest city, New Chicago

there are 9 lines and 4 shuttle routes currently

in order of construction: red, green, orange, blue, yellow, purple, brown, bright green, and pink.

the dashed lines are still under construction...i haven't finished the map which is why there are no stations listed.

I decided to get involved with the community. I'm working on a city I call "Marlboro" (yep, after the smokes). Here's the town so far:

MarlboroPoint-Mar11541207105927-1.png

And here's my subway map. The two on the left are residential neighborhoods. The Commer Square is a small shopping center and Brown Hook (a homage to my beloved Red Hook) is the industrial area.

Thanks all for answering my query; I like the idea for getting a Google/Yahoo map look...makes our creations feel more "real"!

Here's the map I've been working on. It's for a city called Lescquin which has only been mapped out for transportation purposes:

2vcdo47.jpg

Brief explanation:

The jumble (that makes kind of a box) is Downtown Lescquin and that all runs underground. The orange line and the yellow line surface as a railroad, while the other lines are GLR. Thus, the railroads continue to suburbs while the GLR's terminate within city limits. The purple line (or the Industrial Loop) serves the Industrial Park and only runs on weekdays (as stated above).

Comments are welcome! Much better than my last one, if you saw it... 4.gif

All I might recommend is renaming of some of the stations, especially the end of the blue line there, where it stops at 14th street 3 separate times, unless it's a unified transfer station, which maybe you should make look different.

An update to my map: I've taken your suggestion zakuten (thank you), and I've renamed those stations and made transfer stations clear. Transfer stations have an extra circle around them (just like the Toronto Subway & RT). I also changed some stations around.

ifr3es.jpg

Also, to clarify about the Industrial Circle, some labeled blue line trains from 7am to 7pm Monday-Friday use the industrial circle and skip Airport, Charlemagne, and Chantall, and then continue on in the direction they were going. In that sense, it is kind of part of the blue line, but I thought it necessary to make it visually differ.

Again, comments are always welcome. Thanks 4.gif

spacedragonblue, nice map, I think you chose a creative way to show Lapis Creek Park and Azuredale stations. And a bonus map further down! Nice stuff.

legalizeit, I've commented on previous maps of Neorvins, and I love your extended map! Lots of info without looking too cluttered, and great symbols for the metro stops.

Evil Weasel, I like your map - an unusual angle. I always look at my own transit systems in my cities and think of ways to make it more functional - and I was wondering if the red stub could be extended to the purple branch to create a new line in your city? I like how you drew the lines on your city view tiles.

Joe90 Ah, yet another amazing map. Love your style.

Wallasey I use photoshop.

stratusmonkey, very nice google imitation

Shingure, nice map. I think you have an unnamed station on the green line, and I thought the green stub looked a little confusing... where does it connect to?

hawkpride147, thanks for showing your map - be great to see it with stations added.

Evolution, nice, simple map. Plans for extensions as your city grows? And how much use does it get?

kj3400, I like your map, interesting idea to have the background be black.

JOndude, I like your map, but I think the purple loop is still a bit confusing as to how it works...

I had some spare time and decided to see how well I could redraw the moscow metro map. It was tough - I eliminated the cyrillic versions of station names and the river.

The green stub was serving an Island just to the north of the City. But if you look at my Cj now , It shows that I lost the city and had to rebuild

Also Im wondering how to go from straight to diagonal on the lines. Iam limited to Horizontal and Vertical

This is the Cole Rapid Transit map.  It connects to its larger neighbour to the South, Bergen, whose subway map will be absurdly complex and large.  Any comments or questions are welcome.

kwo150, thanks for posting your map - looks great! I think you left off a station name at the end of the College line.

Callbat, I posted a couple of beginner tutorials to the tutorials section of the forums. More complicated techniques require more complicated and longer tutorials, and I just haven't had the time, but hopefully soon I'll get to the smooth diagonal transitions.

rodrigogua Very creative map - I like the transfer symbols, although I do like them better when the station symbols are placed on top of the lines.

Shingure The map would look better if the stations were evenly spaced out.

I took benedicts advice and spaced the stations generously instead of bunching them up like in my other maps.
