Looks good to me! And no one should feel intimidated to show their map. The more the merrier. I think we all like to look at maps and everyone's map is going to look different. Plus this is a place to get ideas, get inspired, etc.

Nice one porter, thanks for posting it here. I don't know exactly what you did, but it has a cool, almost "sketched" look about it.

Looks like you have more great maps - I really like the latest one. Come post them in the thread in my signature if you'd like (I believe you posted one there before).

A nice CJ, I really enjoyed the last update. I like your transit map (of course!). Post the new one in the thread in my sig if you like. I know you've been there before.

Cool graphics, looking forward to seeing the city.

Good start, good luck.

Nice maps! If you like such things, you may want to check out the link in my signature if you haven't already been there. -
Thanks to everyone for helping keep this thread going strong! I really enjoy looking at these maps even though I haven't had time to work on my own for awhile. Thankfully there is a lot of creativity to see here from others. Again, I want to encourage anyone to post any map they've made of their city; it doesn't have to be as fancy as some of the great ones in this thread. I at least am interested in seeing them all. For anyone who'd like to look at some real city maps out of curiosity or for some inspiration, check out this link: http://www.reed.edu/~reyn/transport.html A bonus link with other nifty kinds of maps: http://www.radicalcartography.net/ Confidentially to webmaster76, you may want to adjust your pics, they are too big right now.

I love the three newest maps, guys. Awesome work.

Great maps, emilin, I was really blown away. I think you should post them here too, but whatever you want is fine. Anyway, great job. And thebanjo, looks like you've got a great start on your map.

If you read through the thread in my signature (I'm assuming you've looked in that thread already) you will see that some of us have taken a stab at explaining techniques. Not full-blown tutorials by any means, but a little bit of explanation. I pretty much taught myself, but I do have some (pretty basic) knowledge of PhotoShop, which is the program I used. And I used the traffic view maps, like ACEfanatic said.

Great map!

Looks good, I like all the effort you've put into your roads and transit system. Also, I like the maps you have in previous updates, if you want to post them in the thread in my signature (I think you have posted another map there before) they would be welcome.

Looks great! I'm looking forward to seeing more as you complete it. I'd love to see some closer or bigger shots if that is possible. Yours looks quite a bit like Google maps to me. The main thing I did that you could do as well is to make sure you are using the same colors as a Google map (or Yahoo or whatever your choice is). What I did to get the exact same colors was take a screenshot of an Google map image, then opened that in Photoshop and use the dropper tool to pick up the colors from the map. Then you just use those colors. So for example, you need more of a cream color for your city background, a less bright green color, etc., to get closer to the Goole map look. Once you fill in all the terrain background that is showing through right now, it will look more like a Google map. Another thing is to maybe draw some of the map lines over your streets a little less literally. What I mean is in some cases you can create a sort of cuve instead of the up, down and diagonal that the real Sim City streets have to be.

A great CJ, love the way you do suburbs. Did I miss the turnips?
