Good Day to you, people of the red planet!

Would your community be interested in a mod that would make the Mars day reddish in hue? This would give everything - terrain, buildings, automata, flora objects reddish tint (totally customizable)

In case of some interest PM me...

That would be helpful. Just ask andisart for that. Also, can you BAT for the Simmars team if you can? We really need more high-rises for this mod. And added china or japan stuff to it if you like.

    Evillions: there seems to be confusion about foreign language elements incorporated into BATs. I said they should be avoided, not added to BATs (see my post above). So please do not promote this.

    I hope I made this clear now for every body.

    Although what I'm talking about there is going on a skew. Any-hoo, I uploaded all of my BATs for Simmars that I didn't show or released. One of them is but you are free to edit them much as you want.

    Of those fighters. It needs to be areodamic. Make it more sleek so it can go faster if it has wind drag. Also, try to make the model a bit cooler looking.

    No air means no aerodynamic. Why don't you BAT launchers and hangars for the set? I'll see what I can do about the 'coolness' issue.

    Here is an update on the space station - here you see it in game. It still has a few minor problems.

    The station itself is 4x11 but it only has a 3x4 footprint. Prop height is 750m and texture issues sometimes occur for me after zooming - like Zoom 4 and 5 wont come into focus.

    Now that's what I call SimMars. For some reason, the space station reminds me of the ship they would suggest that would bring people to Alpha Centauri...

    There is no breathable air but there is an atmosphere on Mars, even tho it is a thin one.

    So I'm not sure how far aerodynamic designs make sense or not, but someone should look into it to find out more.

    The issue with the textures not coming in focus is related to the height of the BAT, I experienced the same with my Burj Dubai model .

    To solve this u need to scroll from the bottom of the lot upwards to make the textures appear correclty.

    Um sorry to sound condesinding but mars does have an atmoshere it's just not breathable for us or animals but great for plants

    Mars planes would probably have a simular wingspan style as a glider on earth, as gliders have these wings to generate more lift.

    I think it might be possible to give it an orbit effect.
    You can make it automata, and then make it drift
    slowly from one side of the colony to the other.
    It has to be an actual 3D object, though, not a BAT. 14.gif
    And you'd need another model for the nightlights.
    And it's possible to convert a GMAX file to a 3DS file, if you made
    it in GMAX. Just export it as a Quake III mesh and convert it to
    a 3DS with a program like 3D Explorer. <- Hover for info
    The Quake III export requires a plugin for GMAX.

    looks more like a mix of office and some industry than a fusion reactor (scale, many windows)

    if you want we can use it as another type if building as it is.

    if you wanna keep it as the fusion reactor I think it needs a lot of upscaling (take the door entrance as an indicator)

    From the layout of the buildings at the moment it isn't obvious where the actual reactor is placed in (it should be really obvious, shape and desing wise, if possible)

    That thing will take hours to render in BAT!
    Can someone render it? It'll take a PC a lot more powerful
    than mine to render it in less than a few hours.
    I uploaded it as an archive that GMAX made. If you load
    it, you'll have to relocate all of the textures.

    I think it might just be easier to make it something else.
    It didn't really turn out right, anyways.

    I like it. Maybe if you repeated the entire taller building about 5 more times in a row you would have an interesting little factory lot, like for synthetic materials. Maybe you could do a separate warehouse BAT with airlock truck bays and such. I like the details and the textures are very agreeable, but for a factory BAT I think either all the windows should be lit at night or else only the office should be.

    And six to eight hours is not a bad render time for a decent BAT. You can minimize this by breaking your lot up into different buildings, shooting them separately, and afterwards putting them together in the Lot Editor. Another solution (one I favor) is to get the whole shot set up just before bed and then leaving it to render overnight.

    As for my air forces, I have done considerable research on the subject and I'm not afraid to fly one. They are not wing-dependant but rocket assisted and perfectly mars-worthy with platinum-catalyst hydrogen reaction drives that are effecient and environmentally friendly (they exhaust water vapor). They may be used for launch to the space station but are not designed for reentry and must be disassembled and airbag-dropped onto the surface for recovery. They are intended for medium to long range troop deployment, not dog-fighting. The RAT mounted rail guns are intended as a substitute for artllery and must be landed in order to fire.

    Unfortunately, I don't think animating the space station is feasible since a 4x11 area of screen floating around blocking the view of the ground would quickly get on my nerves.

    I got looking at the building, and I got thinking. Maybe it can be a hydrogen power plant. It's got 2 vents, 2 tanks, and 3 pipes.

    It looks a lot like the 4x4 sunken plaza I showed previously and that BAT may need to be canned or reshot with other props.

    That's a cool building!

    Once I tried to make a Bottomless Pit dump for SC4. I used that idea and I made a pit that's suitable for a bottomless dump SimMars. (Perhaps it could be a conditional building, too.)

    Here's one I've cooked up. I was thinking this could serve as a City Hall/Colony Administration Center or an office.
