I'm getting the hang of the picture thing. Here are hospital (not Martian!) and medium wealth services "iBot Store".

Can't seem to get the custom nightlighting to work in game.  It does render with it.  Also haven't figured out the settings on the glass yet either.

How is your BATting coming along? It's tricky but not tough. I saw where you posted that you wanted to upload drawings but I haven't seen them yet - did you work it out? Sometimes the hardest part of BATting is coming up with new ideas (if you don't count texturing, scaling, lotting and waiting for it to grow in game).

I'm still working on iBots to make it more realistic but stay tuned for Levy's Genes (tailored reproductive services) and the Nu-U (cosmetic surgery, gender reassignment and noodle bar). Currently rendering soccer field but keep crashing it to tweak the glass settings.

Still haven't figured out how these guys get the large pictures in their post - the thumbnail trick is an attachment through the edit function. You could post your drawings that way.

timcravey: It is working, just I am a little overwhelmed. I have kind of stopped working on it. The iBots looks ok. Anything else I dont know what you are talking about 43.gif

Here is R$$ - Haiti House lotted with some of my props and the Discussion Forum nearby - glass is starting to show - have to reshoot the parks with the new settings.

BTW - Time    I know what you mean by overwhelmed - I have never been so mad in my life as when I started learning this suite of programs.  I swear they intentionally made it difficult just to spite me and frustrate my creativity.

hello everyone

I am leaving the sim Mars Project for Good. I am saying good bye to all of you its been a joy to be on this team but I am now living in the real world and I no longer want anything to Do with this project. Please take me off the moderator lists. Take care all of you and good luck with the project.

Don't go Mary! I have your very first lot! I cherish it when it grows in game because its discreet.  It keeps the Farley's at bay and the I-h thrive.

Nonsense! This project is made up of volunteers; each doing whatever he or she feels they can best contribute when they have time and sufficient inspiration. We have no deadline anymore. We are doing this for FUN. I'm sure the moderators will work it out.

Timemaster and I have been working hard at producing parks and rewards and discussing BATs. If you have an interest in Transit - why don't you look at the beta and tell us what still needs to be done. If you make your presentation interesting enough, maybe someone will want to help you.

As for modding - take over the thread yourself if no one else is posting on the topic!  Find out what modding entails and post what you think still can be done to improve the game.  It might be just the thing to get someone else excited about SimMars.

I have something better. Just look at my BATs and look for Futurisic Pencil Towers. Tell me how is it and some of the comments said that this BAT can be great for Simmars.

There's your link. That just my upload section. I have more BATs, just didn't upload them. I have a mech, dance clubs, and offices. Just the lot editor will not show up. Like it wouldn't get to the point where you can edit stuff. Anyways I'm playing City Life so I'll upload my other lots soon. And trust me you will love them.

The link works. Its just you have to copy and paste. That B House is good as a 3D model. But not a ingame building.

My progress of my Martain Mech is done. It will be uploaded as a prop for my upcoming lots and it should be editable in the lot editor. I completed my other lots just the dumb lot editor won't show up. So I might uploaded as a 3D model soon.

Andre, I finished a To-Do-List in the R&P workshop. If you want to, stickie it. Timcravey is steadily producing BATs for it.

    A little discussion please about landmarks! 4.gif

    Since Tim uploaded the Renemone Foundation plopplable landmark with jobs I was wondering should we add jobs for other landmarks too?

    I was thinking of the two highrise megatowers we have already as landmarks. I know a lot of people dont like to plopp towers without jobs and think it's a waste, others like to have non-functional landmarks because they don't get abandoned. what are you thoughts.

    I was thinking it would make sense to add jobs to all landmarks where it is obvious that they should have them (like the two big towers).

    Landmarks like Anakins Hovel wouldnt get jobs as they are more "scenic" landmarks.

    Problem with the big towers, is, they would contain SO MANY jobs. It would destroy a city!

    One solution, include an option to plop either the static, or functional versions of the largest ones. (Either by the installer or through the menu in SimMars)

    I think that most of the smaller to medium size landmarks should have jobs. This would make it more like SimCity is, in that landmarks don't always mean landmark.  It could also mean "extra C$$" or similar. 4.gif Plus, this allows for diversity in developments with downtown areas and stuff like that.

    andisart: I agree with Swat.

    I've been thinking, that the Utilitarian style can be broken down into different sub-styles that could replace the current in-game ones:

    Prefab:

    The Prefab style has buildings mainly composed of buildings that are made out of one to three main shapes, such as the Prefab Single Unit and the Artificial Photosythesis.

    Terra:

    Terra buildings resemble much to buildings on Earth, and also hold other buildings like mining pits that don't fit into a style.

    Modular:

    Modular buildings have a very complex look, but are made out of rather simple shapes. Examples of modular buildings are like the Modular Homes and Methane proccessing.

    Dome and Pyramid:

    Dome buildings have domes built over the main structure, such as the Community Pool and the Agrar Center.

    Pyramid buildings look like pyramids, such as the Pyramid Greenhouse. Pyramid buildings also have large or many slanting sides.

    This is just a thought.

    ok so what about having only solid landmarks and none with jobs to keep it clear?

    re: different building styles: in the beginning of SimMars there were 4 building styles discussed and graphically laid out (if I remember correctly Utilitarian, Dome, Mars natural and a kinda Geometric style).

    Due to the very huge amount of BATs required to sufficiently replace MAXIS content we need to focus on completing one style first which is Utilitarian.

    After that we can start working on other styles and assign them to different building styles in game.

    Regarding ploppaple BATs for Ultilitarian style we are doing really well already, we need many more for growables tho (i'd say at least 50% more than we currently have)
