Looks excellent. Love the rain effects, though could i suggest you turn the U-Drive-it mission icons off? Can't wait for more, looks like this is going to be a great cj!

guurgkud: Thanks for the comment, glad you like it,

eggie99: Yeah, it was a sunny day then a clear night when suddenly KA-BOOM! LOL!

jacquilina: Thanks, hope to see more of you soon.

luigiguy: You'd better wait, cause I got some serious gameplay to do.

cityhawk: Don't worry, by next morning, the storm will be over.

owenluby: It's not a severe thunderstorm, it's just a regular storm.

aleko: Thanks!  Glad you like it.

simcitystar1167; The next update... I got this football game on the 18th...  Maybe by around Wednesday or Tuesday for the next update.

pickled_pig: There isn't that many thuderstorms in the Manchester area.

Big_Gun: Yep.  It ws done in the GIMP.  I had to make a new brush for it.

Sim shady: Yeah, and it's been bothering me along with the no car zots.

Hey, everyone.  It's been a long time since update, but that's because I've been working on this:

    stadium01jt6.jpg

The Manchester Stadium.  it will go in the University Area.

I still have a lot to do with it, so expect a further delay for Update 2.

    What needs to be done:

Shops and restaurants at ground level.

    Roofjunk

    North Entrance

    West Entrance/Main Entrance

    A lot more

    A lot more

    A lot more

And a lot more again (LOL18.gif)

Render the BAT (Over 130,000 polygons, I will render it in low quality as there aren't going to be many details, except on the lot (props and stuff).

Building the lot and modding it.

And finally, placing the lot in Manchester for in-game testing and getting Update 2 ready!29.gif

    Credit:

    scba for seating tutorial.

Philippbo for his excellent BAT tutorial..

    My BAT Skills (LOL17.gif)

Amd um, others who created the first custom stadiums.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.  Please be friendly as this is my first time BATting a stadium.1.gif

There have been countless delays in the update, but after rethinking it I decided to have Update 2 as this instead of the University area.

Anyway for the update, here it is:
    Preface
    Narrated by
    : lenny215

By the next morning, the rain stopped though it was a foggy day.  I was downstairs in the hotel having breakfast.  I had already sent the pictures I took last night landing at the airport to this guy named Daryl, who said he was gonna use them in his upcoming CJ.  Soon, we arrived at the airport and I decided to help with the story once my flight arrived at Nicholson and send him pictures I took from the plane above Midtown.  From here, he will narrate the story for his CJ.

    Timeline
    Made by:
    Pilotdaryl

    August 1948
: New airport needed to support the now demolished Stamford Field.
December 1952: Plans for new airport made.
    May 1953: Construction begins.
September 1955: First plane lands; airport officially opened.
July 1969: Airport becomes overcrowded; another new airport needed.
July 1972: New Airport (Manchester International Airport) officialy opened; most Midtown operations move there, with Midtown now only operating domestic flights and general aviation.
October 1989: Plans for new bridge made, approved.
February 1990: Bridge construction halted, cancelled.
August 2006: Plans for a new airport in Torin River Valley.  Midtown Airport along with Manchester International Airport is now planned to be closed, with operations to move to the proposed Torin Valley International Airport.

    Midtown Airport
    Narrated by: Pilotdaryl

    Pictures by: lenny215

Here is an overview of the Midtown Airport Island:
    overviewci8.jpg
The Airport Terminal Building, built in 1968 to replace the old terminal, previously kocated at what is now the fuel farm.  The control tower and part of the maintenance building can also be seen in the topright corner:
    terminalviewit8.jpg
Though the maintenance building is close to the terminal, most of the maintenance areas and hangars, as well as the fuel farm are on the other side:
    maintenancehangarsyi4.jpg
There is also a small helicopter terminal for those times:
    heliterminaldn8.jpg
Now to escape the airport let's take a look at the residential areas around the airport:
    residentialviews01pw3.jpg
Here's the north area showing one of the ferry terminals for accessing the island.  The school is inside one of these buildings.
    Speaking of ferries:
    ferryrouteah9.jpg
most of the people who live here prefer to take the ferry to the mainland to work at the seaport.
    Here's the south residential side:
    residentialviews02ir9.jpg
Between them lies a fishing port and market:
    fishingportxu7.jpg
Surrounding the airport on the north, east, and south is a park called Planespotter's Park (Obviously named after all the planespotters who go there).  The park is dangerous, though:
    planespottersparkeunwayendjn6.jpg
This is the parking lot and shows a view of the end of the runway.  It is possible to have a picnic with a plane only 9 feet above you, and it is possible to walk on the runway (which is why they put guards and signs there).  And a plane could overshoot the runway and squish you before splashing in the ocean.

The east side is especially dangerous.  Because the park goes right beside the runway.  However, that doesn't mean there are no guards there, there are more guards there than at the north and south sides:
    planespottersparkrunwaysidehs3.jpg
And for a final view, something I've been working on for Update 3: The University Area (Along with the stadium):
    apartment01fm1.jpg

    Notes

lenny215 is not an actual person, just in the story.

Since Nicholson fans are getting bored, I'm gonna have to delay Update 3 to work on Nicholson for a while.

I could not turn off the no car and no work zots, because how do you do it?

Unfortunately, I forgot to add the PAPI lights.  Oh no!!!

    Comments and suggestions are welcome.

    New BAT!!!

For Update 3, I will be working on a new Modern Elevated Rail station.  Here are some pics:

    Test rendering:

    previewsouth01cc1.jpg

    GMAX View:

    previewgmax01ex8.jpg

It's called "Stadium Station.," on Rapid Transit Line 925 (Known as "Blue line").

I decided to make the lot "overhang," which explains the crosswalk and sidewalk (Note: Not using in-game sidewalk texture!) without a network texture (2 reasons: 1. So that any types of networks, including roads, streets, and one-way roads, can fit in. 2. Because when a road, street, or one-way road crosses under elevated rail or monorail, there is no sidewalk making it look unrealistic.)

So far, it is the closest to being completed in all my University area BATs.

    Still need to do:

    -A few more details

    -Nightlights

    -Exporting

-Putting it on a lot, modding

    -Public release onto STEX

    Credit to:

Redlotus's RLI Prop Pack-Doors and Glass texture

    The internet, for other textures

    Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Note: There aren't 925 Rapid Transit routes in Manchester!  That's their numbering system.

Thanks for the comments, Cjah and capitol1.

I don't know about Edmonton LRT stations...

    So anyway, here's a special:

Did you know that there is a section of track shared by blue and green line trains south of Stadium?  See a map:

    stadiumexpressxh7.jpg

    Green Line-Line 920

    Blue Line-Line 925

    Dark Green Line-Special Line-Line 920B

    Turqouise-Line 920B to Depot.

Line 920B is a special line that combines lines 920 and 925 to form the "Stadium Express."

This special line is for travellers who use Rapid Transit via the green line (which heads to downtown) to get to the Manchester Stadium without walking all the way from University Station.

The line is in use only before and after Major League Soccer or NFL games (usually 2 hours before and after the game).

It follows the normal green line to where green line and blue line shares tracks, until it follows the blue line rather than green to "Express" to Stadium Station.  Then after Stadium, it follows the blue line passing another busy station which lies beside a mall (with the exception that it doesn't stop there) to the depot, where it stays until the game is over and it comes out going the other way to Stadium, the back toward the green line.

This idea was inspired by special trains going from the depot (Near 29th station) to Stadium-Chinatown station on the Skytrain, so you don't have to wait for a line coming from Waterfront.

    EDIT:

Final look for Elevated Rail Station:

Your bid has been accepted for the November Simlympics! These are what i see your unique features that will help your bid: Transportation; your transportation system looks excellent, with custom stations also the Airport looks as if it could meet the demand. Also a custom made stadium is an advantage and finnaly the Simlympics would cause a huge boost to the growing economy. However in your next update could you possibly show some clear pictures of where you plan to build the venues? If you don't want to post them in your CJ feel free to post them in the Simlympic bidding thread.

    Thanks,

S1acker (President of the International Simlympic Commitee)

P.s the decision will be made by September 15th.

    Thanks everyone for the comments!

Update 3A: SPECIAL: Simlympic/Olympic Sports Venues Part 1

    manchesterolympicshw8.jpg
Due to the Simlympic events, updates have been changed.
This is a special update on the Olympic sports venues that are already built (With the exception of the lake, mountain, and the Hudson Sailing Center).

I am proud to announce Manchester has reached the 100,000 mark!!!  Also there is a new record for getting from 30,000 to 100,000 in just two days (0 to 30,000 took a little longer (say a week or so) due to low demand)!!!

Unfortunately, due to limited space and time I have dropped the idea of a custom stadium.  Here's the Manchester Stadium now:
    manchesterstadiumxf2.jpg
As you can see at least the El-rail Station made it in.  I had to configure the lotthat way, because of LOD Problems.    Serves Rapid Transit, Buses, and BRT.  There are two RT stations on the lot.  One for 952 (uses modern station) (Opened early because of heavy traffic on roads) that only runs to Hemlock (the 3rd) station.  The Olympic Extension will (if voted) extend it to the future site of the Olympic Village.  The other is 925 (Uses older station behind newer one).  Wait a second, my mistake.  That's vice versa!

And now for the newer Stanley Sports Complex:
    stanleystadiumpx8.jpg

Here's the Midtown Coliseum, serving us since the 1970s:
    midtowncoliseumvz7.jpg

Here's the Olympic Swimming Center, which lies near Midtown Coliseum:
    olympicswimmingcenteryl2.jpg

Also near the Midtown Coliseum is the Yankees Stadium:
    yankeesstadiumsl5.jpg
This pic was taken just before we reached 100k.

Here's the Barringtoin Center, it was built for the '84 Olympics, and sees the possibility that it might be full of people again:
    barringtoncenterud1.jpg

Wait a second... [searches room, banigng and clanging]  Oh no!!! I forgot the Stanley Velodrome!!!  Oh well, I'll post it in the next update.
    Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Yay! Finnaly some pictures of the venues 4.gif. They look good, I especially like the Tennis courts (JtPortland is truely amazing) and the Swimming pool. I also like the Logo, is the image in it from NYC's 2012 bid? Can you post your last post in the Simlympic thread, or can I?

    Thanks, S1acker.

Yes, you can copy it to the Simlympic thread and forum.2.gif

Just keep in mind that this is not all the venues (The Olympic Village, the Hudson Sailing Center, the Olympic Aquatics Center, and the Stanley Velodrome are missing).

Yes, the logo image is from NYC's 2012 bid (But after all, as I said Manchester replaces New York in my wolrd)2.gif.

You can also notice that some NYC buildings are used, such as Madison Square Garden for the Midtown Coliseum, and the NYC 1940 tileset19.gif.

I knew it, that's the stadium made by JTPortland that your idea was inspired on!!!

I have cancelled the stadium, though I am looking into making a volleyball court (There are only 2 (Just Two???) on the STEX, and none of them are good for the Simlympics).
