So, just how accurate are you trying to make this? The High Level Bridge and Walterdale Bridge should be one way 1.gif

Your right they are one way. But I wanted to use double width bridges more for the look. As you can see on either side of the brodges all roads are acurate and one way. Lets see you give it a go. Maybe you have a sollution lol. Also The Bridges are at angles.....infact alot of roads are at slight long angles and nearly impossible to emulate. The east side of Downtown is such. I have no idea how to do those roads with out them looking horrible. Updates will tell how close I came. 11.gif

This region is coming along very well.  I am really impressed by the transportation.  For some reason I stopped getting my subscription to this CJ so I needed to re-subscribe.  I can't wait for more updates.

Nice use of bridges and tunnels. As a map junkie, I have always liked the layout of Edmonton and Calgary.

Wow cool city Jersey Devil. I think you are going a bit far on the realism. Actually I love realistic cities. The region is very accurate. I cant wait til you start making more buildings in downtown Edmonton. I also suggest that you use the Edmonton bus addon from sim city central. Keep up the great work. Great Job. 1.gif44.gif

Your CJ is awesome and the fact that you have the patience to work on it over time to get it as close to what you want is amazing. I look forward to seeing more of this beautiful city.

Lookin good! I also did my map from hand, and found using the valley tool works best at closer zooms while holding the Shift key down. A lot more control that way, but painfully slow. It was my tool of choice for putting in the hundred or so miles worth of creeks and shoreline in the region.
In the future , don't look for the Devs in East Rutherford, or even Newark for that matter. Once my region is developed ( and I can find a suitable arena), the mayor will be contacting the Devils about moving to Cape May, as far away from New York as you can get in New Jersey. Make those Ranger and Islander fans drive four hours in traffic to crash a game ! Of course, I'd have to install a special Flyers fans tax to drive them out of the region ( they're insufferable this year... but I guess I deserve it .. I've been abusing them for years!)

Thanks again for the replies and patients...When all is said and done this region will be up for download. A blank copy is downloadable now threw my MSN account newjersey73@hotmail.com . As always I work on it a week straight then take a few weeks off. I should get things rolling again soon. With work, being sick, having a sick baby, the wife going back to work and her taking night school and running a house I havent been playing much SC lately. More roads to come. I'm also looking for Edmonton Skyscrpaers or other landmarks to be made. I am offering small cash rewards for most any building. 11.gif

I really like this region and the journal of it. If there was a BAT of the west edmonton mall, then it would be perfect!

This is a new update of the Westmount area and St. Alberta Trail area. With many angled side streets it took some time to do this.....aswell with groat road which is in a valley that comes up from the river plus having bridges above and interchanges I had to redo a few things.11.gif

    Dan,

That looks awsome! I love the detail you are putting into this. Could you put a zip file containing all of the cities and the map as it is now so that the rest of us can do the region as well.

    Once again great job.

You know what? Even as a person who loves maps, I have never been able to find a good map of Edmonton or Calgary. Does anyone know where there is one? Also, this is a great realistic city, keep up the good work man!35.gif39.gif

GREAT!!!!44.gif An update! It is looking great! DO you have an estimate of when you will be completely done?
I wish I could help with building buildings but I dont know how. I will try to find people who can build them though.

Completely done......good question. At this rate a year. The little update thats in that circle probably took 5 to 10 hrs alone and thats just the roads parks and schools.
Things I need to figure out to finish this....
-Demand levels..Edmonton is Mainly houses for sqaure after square...then Industry in massive areas. How will this work in SC4
    -Specialty buildings like...
        -Outdoor Rinks
        -Community Halls
        -Large Industrial Buildings
        -Realistic Playgrounds
        -Landmarks
        -Skyscrapers
-Stripmalls Every named     store....   McD's etc.
        -many many more
(I dont like a ton of add on lots)
-For all those squares/cities.... Edmonton as a whole doesnt have hospitals in all of those squares or fire/police coverage.....Do I make up police stations etc..?
-WHat about the LRT and CN rail....Both running diagonal....and with the subway going under dround how do I blend a ground rail and subway. I dont want a raised rail. SO Should I use just one rail to act as both?
-Not every Sqaure has a power plant water or garbage...do I cheat use mods?
-Will city after city/square of housing develope with next to no relative jobs in that area. (In SC to commute in one square to the next or so is measured in hours - when in real life you can drive threw Edmonton to a job in an hour)
-Small roads curve they dont look right zig zagging....
-What if the schools in there proper spots dont cover all areas.
-I play SC without altering mods...so do I use them just to make this city work?

-Main question is..when I hit the go botton and let time roll will the city develope? How do I get around this.

For other questions I'm not zipping the city every time I do an update to give out. Plus I would have to include all used lots.

The roads and scale is nearly exact in 98% of the map with a few exceptions that a hard to get around using SC. But for every building which would measure in the 100's of thousands how do I get everything to an exact look. Especialy the look of A shoppingmall or commercial strip that normaly would stand out in a nieghborhood.....WHere do I draw the line. When the roads begin to finsh and I answer some of these questions then I will start placing buildings to gain the look. But I dont wont 300 Bat lots in my game...And when I tried the plop mod I lost an entire region.....so now I think of ways to answer these questions....these are just a few off of the top of my head. An ideas please tell lol....

Wow...thats an amazing picture of the skyline there...my favorite view though is the one from the kinsmen sports center area looking across the river valley...

those are good questions, and i guess you will come across them when ever anyone tries to realisticly rebuild a city.

This is amazing, and be sure to show the lessard/callingwood area when your done...i can really help you with strip malls location and the class and zoning of houses
