Just a little history... it used to be called Campbelltown and was basicly just an agy community with a post office. Now it is a bustleing suburb of Edmonton.

    Sherwood Park - Sept. 5th

I've put in alot of hours so far and the suburb is coming along great. After doing so many roads for all of Edmonton it's much easier when confronted with curved areas. I know many tricks to get the recreated look.

Here is the progress so far. Maybe 20% of the areas roads are done. You can almost tell where my mapped version ends...I have to look up the outer areas of the expansion for the recreation...

Time for a regional pic updates. You can see the new areas come together. Plus I added thousands of residential on the north end. Due to the regions large size these aren't the most detailed pics. But when Sherwood Park nears its completion road wise I will probably have some large linked pics of the region.

I assume you live in Edmonton because I can't imagine anyone modelling it otherwise.

Packersfan : The demension are very different from one block to another. but I would say 4 x 9 on average. And it all came down to the scale I decided to use. I find that commercial lots are to small on SC and residential lots are to big. So it really depends on your viewpoint of what you are trying to recreate.

Pursoo : I would assume someone should do southern ontario. Shame is it is endless boring sprawl with the only sign of a landmark in one city.

Wodsworth : Any questions please ask. I would be glad to help if ever needed

Shaggy01ca : Edmonton has taken in many towns over its history. I can see in the next 20yrs Edmonton taking in another 10-15 into city limits. Other notable ones in the past are Jasper Place, Beverly, and Strathcona. All older areas of the city that at times where there own cities.

Wow, your City Journal is still the very best! I'm still really enjoying your work here. I really like your idea on how you are expanding your region more farther. Great work and yet still very realistic. Wow![:0] This is some work44.gif

Just a small update of the Londonderry area in NE Edmonton. I've laid alot of housing in the area... and this medium map is about 80% finished.

Pursoo : I don't know where you get your ideas... Provinces in Canada have total control of there resourses. So I doubt Ontario sells Alberta's oil. Aswell, Ontario probably does have R$$$ housing. But also the only true ghetto's in Canada occour in southern Ontario. As for your economy your increasing your debt quite fast and you have alot of corruption in your government. As for Alberta, it is the only Province or State in the West to be debt free. And each year we get billions of extra dollars into the black. It also helps budgeting for $40-45 a barrel when it sells at $70. I guess thats a few extra billion for us. And to leave you on a good note. Remember....people move to Alberta from Ontario....in the thousands each year. Not the other way around. if you would like to continue this debate.... please make your own forum and keep Ontario off of this CJ.

1ajs : You can find the cemetary lots on the stex by typing in my name. I would also recomend my transportation map modd.

packersfan : I got the airport pack with diagonal runways from a friend on MSN. The deal was though I wouldn't share it. And I'mnot sure if its on the net anywhere. I don't know what kind of airport lots are out there. Or if this one has been released yet. I've had it for over a year...

JerseyDevil I really think what you are doing is amazing.  I am in St. Paul, MN right now and cannot imagine what it would be like to map out the entire metro area here in SC4, and I am pretty sure that Edmonton is bigger than the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.  It is especially amazing with how accurate you are.  Also, I really love the pictures that you put at the top of each page.  It really gives you the feel that you are in Edmonton.  Keep up the good work.  44.gif

I find it amazing that after all these years you still find the motivation to keep this level of attention to detail in your work with SC4. Keep going, Dan... and say hi to the family.

Wow tjd thats amazing, I still cant get over how great it looks.  I think my area would be prity tough to do due to the mountainis parkland that we have.  would be hard to get the details, all the other areas would be prity easy to deal with.   Then again getting the terraforming right would be prity hard.  Even tho I could get the exact hights off of google earth.  And with the suburbs, in my area all the houses are cramed together(aprox 1x1 for each in game, but even that would be way to big).
