Feepa : I said a turn for the west in regaurds to the LRT, not an entire route to the west end of the city. With  the new McEwen College boom going on and the redevelopement along the old rail tracks. Aswell as the plans for all of the areas along 104th avenue and north a few blocks and StationLands. They have put an idea forward to run the LRT along 104th in this new developement. It would service the College and probably end there. This is what I seen on the news a month or two ago coming from the mayors mouth.
Here is a map of the area. These are all things city council is looking at. And are not set in motion plans yet.
    <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//104th.JPG align=baseline>
The redevelopement area currently is R$ Cs$ areas. And should have new shops put in place with plaza's, trails, green space, fountains, different sized appartment buildings...

Vigo_Zerox : After Ajs put a map up showing that.... It is correct? I don't see why or how you don't get that 50th Street is straight from 153rd avenue all the way to Highway 37 where it ends at a T intersection. Highway 37 is well of my map. It is a straight stretch the whole way. You could probably watch your dog run away along it for a good hour. But I guess I'll need some more maps or pictures to convince you, so... here goes...

    This is getting old fast...

Ok...lets say he is thinking of this intersection....the damn thing is still straight. North of it the damn street is straight for 36,534ft and 5inches. All the way to Highway 37 where it hits a T intersection. Which again is well off my map.

Vigo_Zerox : This is going to go on forever. So what your saying is there redeveloping that area....
Becuase I know they are building alot of new houses in that area. But as far as any map on the net, store shelves, or google earth shows..... 50th Street is straight. But so where alot of other roads before new developement sarounded them. And are they currently doing this, planning on doing it, or is that in full use. I have been at the intersection just south of there within the last month. And I didn't look north to note any change?

I know it's probably frustrating for TJD, but this whole is the street straight or not? argument makes for some great reading!

Holy crap thats a long read!

    Amazing job you're doing!

The detail you're putting in makes me wish I had some of the basic skills (and patience) to attempt something of this scale...

    Edmonton Nov 2nd...

I've been fairly busy with RL so I appologize for no updates for the last week or so. I should have a new update in around a week...

Louisville327 : Glad your read is entertaining....

Fabiocb : Thanks for keeping up with the CJ. It's Simtropolis members like yourself who keep me going...

r0g3r : Thanks for reading threw the whole CJ.... alot of other members or new members only check out the last page or two of this or any CJ... at times they miss alot of previously made efforts.

Oborro : It mainly takes time. You pick up new skills when recreating after doing it so long lol.

Spacenuteskimo : The Edmonton metro area is 1,014,000. And my recreation is at 500,000+ so far. I should be well over the real amount.

I am pretty sure Stationlands will be built. Its a garantee. The only issue is when. I have heard about this project since last century... and even then it was said to be in ten years. Now that most of that time is up and downtown is booming with new life it should be a shoe in to break ground within 18months.

Stationlands is simply too large, too fast, too out of the way.  Office clients looking for AAA space have far better spots to choose from.  Melcor and Pro-cura are already position themselves for the next tower development by purchasing blocks of land on Jasper proper.  If Stationlands is built, which is a very large if, it will be only when better sites in the core have been exhausted.  I would much prefer to see plans such as Manulife II, Bell II and III, Commerce II, the Commonwealth Square lands, etc, dusted off.

Don't be surprised in 10yrs to see the 97th St. area and west be cleaned up and a new life enter that part of the city.

How the east Jasper area develops will depend entirely on what Mandel's task force comes up with.  On major battle to fight is that there is a certain person whom through various numbered companies owns more than half the area and is just sitting on it until property values increase.  This can lead to a real problem of stagnation.  Much also rests on the federal government's decisions about the minimum security prison in the area.

WOW! So I just found this City Journal and its mind boggling. I went through about fifteen pages in 45 minutes before I needed to take a break. Keep it up, I really like it, the work you do is amazing.

Also, is it still possible to get a version of this map from you? Thanks =)

    Edmonton, Nov 8th...

Falcon49 : It's always great when I get views and people reading it from anywhere, but I especialy like seeing people from Edmonton come across it. Edmontonians can truely see how accurate some areas are...

Tbar220 : Thanks for taking your time going threw the Journal page by page. I can tell you it only gets better as you go on. As the city begins to take shape and roads begin completion it starts to gain momentum.

Helomoto : It's nice to see you back and on the CJ. One thing though.... this being Edmonton true...but Oilers lol, Go Devils.

Vegata : Keep posted I should have an update soon. It's just deciding what area to show...

2005 Trixies : For anyone on Simtropolis please take your time to nominate people for different catagories. If you feel this city journal has earned a trixie for its years of work please drop a nomination. 11.gif

    Just a small update...

I was going threw different areas of Edmonton adding some flora and diagonal streets when I figured I would snap a picture or two of areas that haven't been seen for a long time.

    Fox1.JPG

I was going to re-do the Whitemud Drive - FOx Drive interchange with NAM but the original Sim City is fairly close to the real thing. I added the dirt road and dirt parking lot to the head of the Whitemud Creek trail system. Aswell as the foot bridge that goes just beyond the ranch. Anyone from Edmonton who hasn't been down Whitemud creek should give it a go. There is alot of very old growth forrest in the valley. And you can't even tell you are sarrounded by a city of 1million...
