  1. Eureka! --- Planning For The Future

Unfortunately I work full time and attend law school in the evenings, so my spare time is very, very limited. I'd love to do another CJ some day, but I'm pretty sure my days spent playing SimCity 4 are over. It was super fun, though! Thanks again for the support.
  2. Eureka! --- Planning For The Future

Funny this got bumped on the same day I stop by for a visit---the first visit in more than two years! There will never be another Eureka update, but I appreciate everyone's encouragement and kind words.
  3. Eureka! --- Planning For The Future

Dear Faithful Eureka! Fans, I began this CJ several months ago with the intention to follow the legacy started by one of the finest CJs of all time---"Digby-East Coast Region". I poured a lot of time into building Eureka!, into constructing the stories and characters that made it interesting, and into the image editing necessary to make it appealing to the eye. I was devoted to this CJ far more than I was with "Adventures In Urbanism". My hard work on Eureka! (and Adventures as well) paid off handsomely, winning me a Trixie for "Best City Planner." That was an honor I still can't believe I received. A couple more months passed, and I kept working on Eureka!. Unfortunately, real life was bound to catch up with me sooner or later. As I've said before, in addition to my full-time employment, I race road bikes at the amateur level here in Louisville, KY. Bike racing is an extremely demanding endurance sport, and it requires many hours a week of training---training that can't be done sitting in front of a computer. Naturally, Eureka! took a back seat to racing. I had every intention of returning to Eureka!, to picking up precisely where I left off, telling the tales of Mayor Hiro and his nemesis Peter Wendgren, all while following the urban development of the once-sleepy fishing village. However, a few weeks ago, Simtropolis was completely overhauled. In my opinion, the new design of the site is horribly user-unfriendly, unfamiliar and unhospitable to my past creativity. In short, I HATE the new design of Simtropolis. It sucks. To make matters worse, when Eureka! was taken offline and then reposted under the new site design, ALL of my links were lost. Each long entry in this CJ contained as many as ten links to various off-site images, sites, references, etc. Restoring each of those links, one by one, is a task too demanding for my limited budget of time and patience. I originally had html copies of each and every entry, but a computer crash last month destroyed those for good---the only surviving record of the Eureka! CJ was here on Simtropolis. Because of this---the poor new design of Simtropolis (or perhaps my unwillingness to adapt to change) and the loss of important content I cannot replace---I have decided to end Eureka! for good. After all of the hard work I put into this, it breaks my heart to have to stop prematurely, but I see no other options. Call it real life syndrome, call it an unwillingness to accept change, call it whatever. Eureka!, as it exists on Simtropolis, is over. I'm extremely glad so many people enjoyed this CJ, and your kind words and encouragement mean the world to me. Creating Eureka! could never have been as much fun as it was without all the great members of Simtropolis. I'm sorry. Please understand. And most of all, thanks so much for the support. Louisville327
  4. NHL Trivia

It's looking pretty bad for me at this point. Because I'm so busy, my time on the Internet is incredibly limited, and add to that the fact that I'm never EVER on SimTropolis when MiniMark posts new questions. Looks like I'm out of it. I haven't scored any points in a long time. Maybe I'll luck out and get back into it, but at this point it's pretty safe to say I'm going to lose despite my strong early run...
  5. NHL Trivia

I can't believe I missed this one by two minutes!!!!!!!!
  6. NHL Trivia

Uh, yeah, those points better go to Canuck where they belong. Beebs is catching up fast but not THAT fast!
  7. NHL Trivia

Good work, Beebs. It's pretty close again! This game is going down to the wire.
  8. NHL Trivia

Sorry about the format of the above post. My "reply" window is acting screwy.[p] I've edited the above post but only to add commas to separate the teams (for better reading).

Don't worry, I'm still around. I just keep missing your posts, MiniMark. I'll get back in the game as soon as my schedule allows me the free time. Hopefully it's not too late!
  11. Eureka! --- Planning For The Future

To All Eureka Readers:[br] I apologize for being away so long. Unfortunately, due to my busy real life schedule and so much going on with work and bike racing, I've had very little time to sit at home on the computer. Because of this, I've got no choice but to put this journal on temporary hiatus. I'd much rather make tons of posts like I used to, but I just can't at this point in the year. Hopefully, this time off won't last much longer, but who knows? Keep checking every once in a while, okay?
  12. NHL Trivia

I thought I WAS going for the bonus. He already beat me to the first five, but because he only submitted five, I submitted my own thinking I could score the bonus points. I mean, all that hard work for nothing...
  13. NHL Trivia

Brett Hull wore number 16 in honor of his father, Bobby. Vincent Lecavalier wears number 4 in honor of Jean Beliveau. Ray Bourque switched from number 7 to 77 in honor of Phil Esposito, who's 7 was retired by the Bruins. During the ceremony, Bourque pulled off his 7 jersey to reveal a 77 below. Evgeni Nabokov also wears number 20 in honor of Vladislav Tretiak. Maxime Talbot (Little Berge) of the Penguins wears number 25 in honor of Marc Bergevin , a former teammate who he was nicknamed after. Thought you might like that last one, MiniMark.
  14. NHL Trivia

Only two players have scored more than 7 points. Patrick Sunstrom, 8 points in 1988 Mario Lemieux, 8 points in 1989 Wayne Gretzky scored 7 points three times, in 1983, 1985, 1987.
  15. STHL--SimTropolis Hockey League PreSeason

Yeah, since we're not betting any money here, let's keep money out of this as much as possible. Adding a salary cap makes the game far more complicated---especially for you, since you're doing all the work by hand!---so let's just keep it as simple as possible. The draft and the trading has gone well so far, so let's just keep it streamlined and see how it works out. And as for the Eureka exhibition game, that's what I'm talking about!!
