It's pretty clear to this old cowboy that the only hope we have for the enjoyment that SimCity promises is that another company either buy the game or -- and this would probably be better -- just rebuild a better urban planning game from scratch. SimCityX was a great start but it has/had a lot of naive concepts that prevent it from living up to reasonable expectations.

One of those would be support but when you get tired of this world you can just turn around and ignore your customers.

you can phone EA games help line,and if you have a genuine disk there is a number on the disk that they will ask for,and they will ask where you bought it from,and they will issue you with a new serial number,and i know this as i bought rush hour of ebay and i had to do this.

It is painful to see EA pulling the plug on SimCity. It's hard to imagine them treating customers in this fashion if there were any intention of an update. They seem to be letting it die on the vine.

Hello and sorry 4 me english (i'm a poor french). I bought a few weeks ago SIMCITY 4 and have downloading some lots and bats from this site. But, I wanted to register on EA site and couldn't : I didn't buy a new game but a second-hand game and the first user had already done this. I bought the Sims extra deluxe box and simcity 3000 "new" and now i can't download these 2 sdfggs.dat. Help me please !

You might be out of luck whoever originally bought the game owns the serial #. Unless you can get him to give you his simcity.com login username and password, you will probably never get it.

Pixelrage is right. If there is any way to find the person who registered your program, do that. Otherwise not much chance of breaking through. I would never buy an EA product because of this experience with SimCity.

How did you lose your serial?  It is on the jewel case or on the manual.  Do you have a second-hand game?

If you'll trouble yourself to read back in this string  you will see -- if you can see! -- that it isn't that easy.

What's easy is for you to go online and buy a new copy. What you ask can't be done by the volunteer corps here. As I understand it, this is not the company and they would not have done what you ask if they were still here.

Good info, but ya got one thing wrong. It costs $10.00 for a new CD key. Thx for the help on getting to the original CD key though...for some reason mine is in use when I never entered it ( I had a huge conversation with the EA staff and they said it kept being re-entered by a different guy )

EA support is horrible, and trying to even send a message to them is worse. I almost always get an error message that says something like "GAME needs a required value - PROBLEM needs a required value ( When they are already filled in completely )

I unistalled my game after I had technical issues then reinstalled it and now it will not let me download and I do not remember my master account username or password. I cannot register my game on a new account because it is still registered on the master account. Is there any way to unregister a game?

I recently got a mac version of simcity 4 deluxe edition and there's no registration number anywhere. I've looked all through the manual and on the case but there isn't one. Is this normal for mac versions? Is there any way I can register it?

Um...this is retarded, why do they block you from getting things like the night time BAT ect if you havent got a serial...YES I WANT THE BAT TO PLAY WITH MY BATTLEFIELD GAME...

the only people who download of their site is us, end of, and it really grinds my gears that they restricted downloads, arg.

Someone should figure out what files are the nightime BAT fix and the lot editor and make them PUBLICLY available, and that is the solution

What stinks is i registered, then forgot i ever registered, then ended up deleting my e-mail adress (I had a dial-up adress that i deleted when i got hispeed) then when i try to resend the email i can't change the adress i send it to and i cant recreate the address so...oh well lol

I have to agree with the guys that are totally turned off by this registration crap. I bought this game legally 2 years ago - I was into it for a while then quit. Well now I have a new computer, and discovered BAT files and I have a renewed interest in the game.

Instead of the above being a positive for EA (consumer finds new interest in their company's game, he is more likely to buy the next in the series), because I am having one hell of a time registering MY game to get an update to make it function as intended - I will never buy an EA pc game again.

1) Registration should never be a prerequisite for a patch - EVER. For extra cool stuff, props, whatever - fine. But not for something that fixes functionality of a game.

2) How is it the gaming industry gets away with making people divulge personal information in order to get something they purchased to function properly. Did you ever buy a DVD movie from a store and had to activate the movie before you could watch it? Or the last 10 minutes of the film are cut out and they say, we meant to put an ending to the movie and now we have one - if you want it please give us your information. Seriously, FFS.
