Bought the SimCity Box a week ago. But the registration process has proven to be a pain.

The first thing I tried was registration via EA, but all I'm offered is "cheats and hints", so I turned to my old Maxis user account. The thing is my account has been around since the beginning of time (since The Sims (1) was new), but I have no way of registering SimCity 4: Deluxe via Product Registration because my username is "used". Reading recent comments before mine, it looks like I'm not the only one expressing displeasure of the old SimCity site's lack of recent maintenance.

In the end, I still ended up downloading the BAT and the Lot Editor via "illegal" means, but not the Terrain Generator and patch needed to resolve the night light bug.

Talk about faulty customer service.

Hey again.Sorry if I caused any uproar last week,but I finally did it,after painstaking,reading my serial number and entering it in endless possible ways,I got signed up: )!And I got the my custom lights working.However I really think EA is mad to put us through all of this crap.I swear,if it wasnt for simtropolis with such a broad and loving community,I'd had been driven insane by simcity.com!. . .oh too late they already did that!

the same goes for me also....my brother formatted the pc without my permission and puff all the stuff is gone!! today i've been trying to login but normally i dont even remember which e-mail i used...then i tried registiring and the same thing happened: invalid or used serial number!

i really need bat, lot editor and g-max and every lot back! so do you guys have an opinion on what should i do now??

Some people in non-US country experienced problems with registration of the game.

The problem is with simcity.ea.com/index.php because it's a very old and buggy page, made by Maxis, and the EA doesn't want/know repair it.

The solution:

 - Take your serial number (what you bought) and bill.

 - Take pen and paper

 - Call your local EA support (telno.-s are here), and tell you your problem them.

 - If you're lucky, you'll give a new serial, what is registerable. You can register this on the page and I recommend to change your serial in registry to the new code. To change, open regedit, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\ergc and replace (Default) value to the new serial without any dashes.

This worked for me with Deluxe in Hungary.

Remark: the HU CS told me, the US support doesn't know what needed to do to solve this problem, but the local CS knows, so I very-very recommend to try your local EA support before any communication with US CS.

So what was the problem? Because I recently re-purchased the game and I'm getting the same invalid/already in use cd key error and the email listed for tech support on the first post isn't working.

you have to register on the EA website in order to get to tech support. In that email, "account" =your account name, i think

I've got a problem here, i followed the instructions on pg1, but when a i finish the product reg from Simcity 4 Delux_eREG it tells me it can't send it.

Hello, guys, I'm new here.

I just bought a SimCity 4 Rush Hour original game and I wanted to register this at the http://simcity.ea.com/ (The SimCity 4's official website).

My problem is, uh, I don't know where the serial numbers are. Can I become a product-registered member without the serial numbers? If I do need the serial numbers, where can I find it in the whole CD box.

Hey, welcome to Simtropolis.

Before I tell you what you might need to  do, I need to know what you want to accomplish. It seems like you lost the serial code so yes it is possible to register on the EA site without the code but you will not have access to downloading landmarks or the exchange. If you need the landmarks for dependencies in a file, check out "Get Your Maxis Files Here" by Zelgadis (Links at the bottom of reply). If you are really concerned about your code there is an omnibus tutorial that will probably help you, I've linked it at the bottom of my reply. Also if you have the CD box its on the back of the case on the bottom left.

I have a problem

I registered on the EA site an account, to download BAT and I had to type in the serial #s. I have sc4 deluxe edition, and I typed in the exact serial #s on the back of the card inside the CD case where the serial # is. so I typed my serial # in with dash ---- signs between the groups of letters and numbers

Then in red letters it says:

Your serial number, (my serial #), for SimCity 4 Deluxe, is either registered already or is not valid.

ive got the same problem as LEO when i type in my my serial number it comes up with the same message on both my sc4 and rushhour i tried using # spaces - _ and nothing in between but still no difference i uninstalled it and bought another copy (it was cheap then, so i got it for about a

i bought a brand new sealed game at Target, so its not stolen or illegal. the serial number is printed on 1 of the pamphlets inside the box

What has my feather fluttering about is the fact I bought Sim CIty 4 myself around when it came out, in UK, and never registered it or even used the online service. I recently started playing it again and came across this site and of course the official site, I go to register my game as I have all the relavent box/manual and product code - yet it tells me it is invalid - how can it be invalid?

Its not a copy, not 2nd hand.....its the version I bought personally.

Not that it is much of a problem because any downloads I get from here.....its just something that gets my knitting in a twist!

I've got exactly the same registration problem as you seem to get here. I want to download RH prop pack and some other files from the Maxis site, but it's not possible if I am not registered.

The "menu registration" (from the window menu) doesnt function (error: cannot send registration form, but in French for me!) and not better on Maxis site.

I sent an email to EA support. They advised me to register here: gamereg.ea.com, but SimCity 4 Deluxe is not in the list of proposed games for registering. And so on, I created an EA account, and navigated from french site to us an back and again and again. Enough !

I'm looking for "Airport pack " dependancies... Where can I get them ? I didn't see them on Zelgadis site (homepage.mac.com/zelgadis/instructions.html).

Unless I didn't understand what is RH prop pack !

Could somebody help me ?

After many tries it got on my nerves... Now I'm not even expecting a solution from EA support.

When I see their 'minimal' (?) answers, I imagine they don't really care ! (French support at least)
