Admin convention in Seattle...

Sounds like everybody had a great time at the convention. It is pretty cool to see most of the admins get together over in Seattle.

I’ve been going through my pictures, seeing what other ones I have. I’ve been trying to figure out a way to show how steep that drop off was. It’s difficult to take a picture that conveys depth. So let’s try it this way:

 

Here is a picture showing the height of the trees, as compared to Ryan and Samantha walking along the road:

 

 

Here is a picture of Ryan standing at the edge of the road. Notice that he is looking down at the tops of the trees growing next to the road.

 

 

Here is a picture of Dirk standing at the edge of the road near the tops of the trees.

 

 

Here are Dirk and Ryan on top of some rocks next to the road:

 

 

Here is a picture I took from the top of those rocks.

 

 

We also saw a few television landmarks in our travels. This is the helicopter pad from Gray’s Anatomy.

 

 

And we stopped in the town where Northern Exposure was filmed.    You can see Ryan pointing at the moose as he wanders past the mural.  (and, yes, I know most people here are too young to get this joke but some people might.)

 

 

Seriously, though, I had a great time. I would like to thank Ryan and Samantha for being wonderful hosts and kindly putting up with my many eccentricities. And to thank Ralphael for doing all of the difficult driving, both downtown and in the mountains. And to thank Dirk for providing me with the opportunity to have many cool experiences that I would not have had without him. You guys are great.   I would love to do this again sometime.

It was, a bit.   The thing that concerned me was it was a one lane road with two-way traffic, lots of blind turns and few places to turn around. And, in many places, the “shoulder” of the road was a couple hundred feet down. And I think we might owe Ralph some new tires and shock absorbers. He did a great job navigating it.

Well, I’m back home. Ralph is back home. And Dirk is leaving tomorrow.

 

We all just managed the time out there as best we could. Next time I’d like to schedule things a bit better. As it was this time, it was very short notice and anyone who had to manage both time off work and airplane tickets didn’t make it. I think we are doing Washington, DC next time although no date has been set yet.

I am glad you all had fun on this Admins convention! I hope on the next Washington, DC convention all of the Admins can go.

Awesome. Washington DC is wonderful! One thing you need to visit (trust me) is the Smithsonian: National Air and Space Museum. It is the best Smithsonian musuem out of all of them. Here's a link if you are interested: http://www.nasm.si.edu/

Oh, and for some advice since I experienced it, never ever walk across any Potomac bridge because it will take you at least 30 mins just walking across... especially don't do it in 97 F heat.

Of course, visit all the monuments and avoid bad taxi drivers and please show many more photos to the next convention, btw.

HEY GUYS!    Don't forget the other Admin Convention held this weekend in Ohio between Mr. Cinatit & myself!

These pictures were taken of Mr. C and me courtesy of The Magistrate.

Mr. C was easy to recognize from all of his ST pictures when we met...  He's the spittin' image of John Lennon! 

In Real Life he's like his persona on the Internet.  He's a down-to-earth guy with a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor.  He really loves to write and loves his Cincinnatti Reds.  He absolutely had The Magistrate, the kiddoes, and myself in stitches!  

He also taught me the correct pronunciation of his cyber name ...and mine too!

And no Sloppet!  My face is red b/c of lots of coffee, miles on the road, and the clothes I was wearing.  NOT due to so-called adult beverages!
