The Committee Chronicles

Issue: 1       

    The creation of the city of Committee.  There are 30 suburbs that make up Committee.  I have created the terrain and configuration.

What I would like from you all is 29 to be the other mayors of Committee.  Since I came up with the city I feel it would be correct for me to be the

main mayor.  So there is an election for the other 29 mayors.  How the voting will be held is any one is welcome to pick up to 4 suburbs that they

would like to be the mayor of.  So before I go into other information here is a picture of committee.

 

More on how the election will be held.  The polls are open for people to reply with the number of the suburbs they would like to be mayor of.   The polls will be open till there is atleast 1 name for each of the suburbs.  Then the polls will close and the next issue of this news paper will be out. 

 

Ps.  The other mayors really don't have to do anything if they don't want to.  If any thing all they would have to do is send me a private message with what they want in their city.   No one else but me will be really playing this city.  I have replied to this with my vote on which 4 suburbs I would like to be the mayor of.  It can be used as a reference on what to do.

Do to the votes via the newsflash  poll here's the deal.  If you want to partake in the interactivity Here are the ways to interact. 

 

1.Reply to this cj with which 4 suburbs you might want to be a VMayor.  

   [just let me know what you want in your suburb if you are elected]

   [note the reply I made stating my name and the 4 suburbs]

 

2.Once there is atleast 1 name for each suburb the mayor election will be open

   [cast your vote(s) for the people you would like to see be mayor]

   [you can vote for your self]

   [if one person has the highest votes in more then 1 suburb there will be something created at that time]

 

3.Once we have the 30 mayors  the can send me the name they want for thier suburb.

   [New map will be posted]

 

4.Mayors can message me with what they want buildings named roads  ect...

 

 

5.Make comments or sugestions for any of the suburbs

 

6.Ask any questions you may have.

 

I hope there are enough people to have the election.   I will use another poll for that.

although i think you have the right idea.  I dont think that its a good idea that you do everything and the people just tell you want they want in there city.  Perhaps let each player update there own city on this CJ.  Just an idea though.

Since there has been a over wellming of people voting for suburb 3 it is now close.  as of 4/11/2005  6AM mountain time.   [at 7 names on the ballot]   ie 7 names is the max.  1 name is the minimal however I would like to have atleast 2 names.

 

Later this week there will be a poll to see how far interactive you would like to see cj get.

 

Once there are names for the above listed suburbs then I will put out the next issue of the newspaper and have the ballot.    The election is open to any one who wants to vote.     I want to thank everyone who has submitted their wish list so far.

I'll go with 19 or 18, I'll love some small area to have some low commercial areas next to busy highways. And then also build low res and med. res on small streets!

Hmmm, going for small suburbs might be a good thing here - glad I did it anyway

 

I'm personally veering towards the mayor providing some kind of 'action plan' for their suburb. Here's a random example for an imaginary small suburb by a meandering river:

 

Riverside West Action Plan

 

The Mayor's intention is that Riverside West suburb will be a low-density, high-wealth riverside development, with narrow streets around apartments and pedestrianised shopping centres coupled with large areas of parkland offering views of the river. A monorail or elevated rail running parallel to the river and possibly linking with other suburbs would reduce car dependency and potentially encourage tourists. Inland, away from the river, low-density housing with a small shop on every corner would create a true neighbourhood feeling.

 

As you can see, the intention is that the Mayor spells out his vision, and PhatHead would be the man to turn it into reality (well, SC4 pseudo-reality). This allows a nice amount of creativity for all concerned, and also means there's no incompatibility issues.

Here's my master plan if I become mayor of 3 and/or 8:

I envision a nice downtown on both sides of the river, but not a skyscraper forest, but a nice resort area with hotels and many tourist attractions, and nice suburbs with many parks

 

My plan for the inland cities:

 

I see a nice, centralized, classical type of city, where the downtown is the center of it all, and everything radiates outward from it
