I really want to make a good cj of my favorite city- New Orleans. But the map I found is a tad small... I tried to make one, but all my map making attempt fail. I was hoping for this:
A map of New Orleans and the New Orleans metro area, including Slidell, and if possible, Mandeville and Covington (north side of Lake Pontchartrain) Also, if possible, it would be nice if the streets in the french quarter lined up ti the SC4 straight lines. (if possible, but not neccessary)

I know its a large request... but I thought I would try and ask here since I can't make good maps.

Could anyone turn this following map of Westeros into a useable map for SimCity?  I don't have the accuracy or patience to do so myself. 27.gif

The picture I was using is attached.

The picture as attached would need to be resized to attach it to the post I was required to size it at 1025x512 but would prefer it atleast 2050x1025 or larger.  Anyone that picks up this project please PM me.  I would appreciate any help with this anyone is willing to give.  It is already grayscale but needs the water added around it and properly shored and such.

Thank in advance. 9.gif

How big will that Sydney map be Mallow ? depending on the area you could endup with a region something like 80x80 km for the entire area. In other words it would have to be split up into possibly 4 regions. if i did it i would be doing it as a half scale of maybe even quarter scale map relative to simcity scale.

Err, yeah, so I just looked through the STEX to see if anyone's gotten around to making a map of my hometown region. Nope. I did notice a lot of nice work by Mallow there though. So yeah, tack my request on to the end, I suppose. No hurry, I have yet to get around to reinstalling SC4+RH, after my 200gig HDD died as a result of my PC's power supply deciding it was tired of this life and wanted to go out in a blaze (it caught fire as I was on my computer. Shut the whole thing down, of course, but I think it spiked the HDD, such that I can't even rescue the data off it period). [/pointless rant] So yeah, my request is for Mishawaka, IN. Seeing how you do the maps, Mallow, I'll at least save you a small step and provide the Lat/Long. detail. Latitude 41

Could you suggest the sort of locations you'd like included to give an idea of scale? Things like which towns might be on the map, how far up which rivers' valleys you want to go, etc.

A little more specific please? Tredegar, at the top of the Sirhowy is 20 miles (30km) from Newport. A large city tile is 4x4km. Are you looking more at the Sirhowy itself, north from Risca, or south along the Ebbw? If you could list some of the towns you'd like included, I can cut an appropriate sample. For reference, the following guide image shows an area around 25x20mi, roughly 10 large cities wide and 8 high.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask but I'll ask anyway 43.gif) Has anyone tried to create a map of Iceland? I know there's an attempt at a Reykjavik map on the stex, but I actually had in mind the whole island... It would most certainly be a very beautiful and challenging map (I'm not Icelandic but I happen to love that country) Of course it wouldn't need to be to scale 43.gif)

In order to get the whole of Iceland on a map, it would be impossible I think to get in game scale accuracy - but a simple map of Iceland would be easy enough to make, the intricate streams and rocky areas would be a bit difficult though !!
If you would like an accurate coastline map with major rivers, and a stylised terrain, I would be happy to oblige

OK - well I will be happy to make a map of Iceland for you. I will make the coastline accurate, but I emphasise that the terrain will be stylised, I will however put in rocky terrain to make it a little like Iceland - which is, as you say, a magnificant country.
I have important business commitments this weekend, so it will be Monday (27 Mar) before its on the STEX ok 9.gif

Sorry it's late. The levels as they are right now generate all land, and seem a little rough, but you can sculpt the rivers out as you . Two JPEG files can be found here and here. My test render looked something like this: (names added, river lines painted in)

Go here to get a map of Santa Barbara Ca.  SB happens to be my hometown and I remembered downloading it a while back, so I did a quick search.  As far as San Louis Obispo and Santa Maria, I'm sure one of the real-world map makers might make it for you.

I make Chester to Oswestry to be about 25 miles, about the length of 10 large city tiles.  Care to narrow it down a little?  Also, some idea of which points east and west of Wrexham you might want would be helpful.  I might suggest keeping the entire area down to around 10-15 miles each way, which is around 4-6 large city tiles.

Cheers,

Hi everyone,

Can anyone make a new map of Hong Kong Island? I have seen several maps of Hong Kong in this site. However, most of them do not focus on the Island and therefore cannot shape the Island accurately. Moreover, these maps cut the Island into smaller pieces. So, if anyone can make a map foucusing on the Island and not separating it in too many pieces, I would be very very thankful!!

haydnchoi, the largest "chunk" as youy call it is a 4km x 4km square...so cutting up the island is unavoidable, unless you have it in a single city region which is just plain boring.... The HK maps on this STEX are pretty accurate but if you want, you can alter the config.bmp in MSPaint..Simply flood fill the entire file with a solid blue (R:0 G:0 B:255) That will give you the least number of tiles.
