How about The Greater Twin Cities ( Minneapolis-Saint Paul).  I want more than just-outside of the 494-694 belt, and if you now how far out these two rivers are: the Crow River and the St. Croix River, include them.

Thank you for considering my request.

I'm going to get MicroDem and see what I can do today. For now I will reserve the following requests and will say that they should be done before the end of the week.

Greater Minneapolis-Saint Paul area for djrules5454_simtropolisedition
Fort Myers for Granthos
Dover for Ginchael (I live in NJ so I definately want to tackle this one!)

So to the other squad members, I'm filling these requests now but if it doesn't go well, I might not be able to make them. Hopefully they will be done within the next few/several days though. 10.gif

I would like a map of New York City. What I specifically want is all five boroughs (that means Staten Island, Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhatten). I want every part of the borough included in the map, not one area missing. Also, you don't have to add all of Long Island, just Queens and Brooklyn. And make sure Governers Island, Ellis Island, and Liberty Island get in there too. And just to make it look fancy (and because I live there too), include the NJ cities that border the Hudson River, which are Jersey City, West New York, and Union City, just to name a few. That's what I want. One question though, are you using USGS to make these maps, because that's what I would prefer. Thanks.

EDIT: Make sure everything is to scale.

I'll keep my requests for now, but it's just about impossible to make them. I can't get past the part where you download the DEM data in the tutorial by the7trumpets. A folder pops up with a zipper on it and I closed it. Then I opened MicroDem and had no idea where to find the folder. I really need help here.....this stuff is impossible. I hope I won't just have to stick to ficticious maps, but it might have to be that way.

If anyone can find the solution to my problem, please help. It would be much appreciated. Thanks. 10.gif

When you unzip the file unzip it to my documents, an easy to find place. Then open up MICRODEM and go file open dem. Then navigate to the folder and inside the folder there is a tiff file. double click on the tiff file to open it. MD will do the rest. Once the file is opened complete the tutorial on ST.

Well, a map of the New York City area was done, but it looks like you want a more specific one, right? After I finish the Delta Region in the Netherlands I'll look in to this request as well.

How about the city of Las Vegas and the surrounding areas?  I'd like the city's of Summerlin, Henderson, and North Las Vegas available, make sure you add the mountain ranges, mainly Mouth Charleston, and Sunrise Mountain.  I would also like Boulder City to be shown in the map if it isn't too much trouble. 1.gif

Thanks for the help TNS, but now I have another problem. I can't get the grid to appear. Can someone help me on this? I filled out the grid parameters exactly the way that 7 did in his tutorial, so I'm lost. Sorry.

Alright, the map is made and ready to render. It might not be to perfect scale because I couldn't understand parts of 7's tutorial so I had to use rybolton's tutorial and it wokred well. Now, it's time to render. 3.gif

Sorry, but I have to give up my requests. After I spent so much time and energy on the Minneapolis-St. Paul Region, guess how it rendered? All water except for three tiles in the bottom right corner. I have no idea why that happened, the greyscale looks just fine. When it was rendering, my computer went to the screensaver and then I couldn't open SC4 again. Maybe that's what did it. Still, it takes a lot of time and work to do these maps. I'm going to stick to fantasy maps. Maybe I could be the unofficial ficticious mapmaker or something because right now, everyone else is taking requests for real-world maps.

Again, sorry about this. But I will still make fantasy maps, as I said before. Well, it's time to start cranking out some good, realistic ficticious maps. 10.gif

I also want this one to be bigger and exactly to scale because the other one looks way to small.

Please Read:

Here are the requests which are yet to be fulfilled...

Minneaoplis, MN
Fort Meyers, FL
Dover, MJ
New York City, NY
Sydney, Australia
Washington, DC
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Las Vegas, NV
Everett, WA
Columbus, OH

We don't mind working on all of these, and can probably finish by late tomorrow. However, two things are stopping this from happening.

First of all, even if we finished all these by tomorrow, at this rate there will be 15 more maps to do by then... and we would just continue to be backlogged.

Secondly, it has come to my attention that many people here at Simtropolis do not like the STEX being flooded by all these maps going in at once.

So, unfortunately, and sadly, the MAPP Squad is going to have to stop taking requests until further notice. We will complete these maps in this list, and once finished we will likely start taking requests again.

We are very sorry for this bad news, but please be patient and sometime in the future we will get to your map.

Sincerely,
Mallow The Cloud
MAPP Squad member

Yes, what Mallow said above is exactly correct. All requests from here on will be disregarded, we just have too much on our plate. Thanks for your overwhelming support, but remember, there can always be too much of a good thing.

I just made a really long post in the Mapp Squad Discussion thread, but I'll make a much shorter version here. I don't think we should take requests at all. For the amount of work that goes into them, I just don't think it's worth making a map for one member. BATs can be requested because many more members than just the one who originally requested the building will download and use the BAT. It just doesn't work that way with maps, unfortunately.

Date: 4/3/2005 4:21:28 AM Author: el_grande02 when you guys have time, how about the whole southern california region, include san diego, los angeles, ventura, santa barbara, the inland empire, and the desert cities closest to the valleys. It seems like a massive region but would be cool to see the whole southern california built with sc4.
    quote>
    Hey,

I am sorry to say the high deserts of California are very hard to do. This is because the elevation is higher than SC4 will allow which would create a huge plateau. It would not be appealing nor good looking. The best way to do this region would be to only have the coastal regions. I hope you understand. I will try to get your map completed as soon as possible.
